Dindin got ingested and the kitchen is all cleaned up. Chillage has since ensued. As I post OYKW is in the tub. He does love that tub! 'Tis rainy out which should make for good sleep weather tonight.
gotti  Stay cool and well-hydrated. 115 Amurrkin is just way too hot!
Good on you with the flute lessons roadrunner. Someday, I may go back for more piano or guitar lessons.
Moooom, I don’t know about sunny Merryland, but here in Tennessee, we tend to change from summer blend to winter blend around this time of year. It usually coincides with hurricane season.

gotti, I’ve lived in teh south for so many years, it’s hard for me to imagine life without AC.
Month end has been survived. I was in meetings half the day and doing last minute crap the rest. Tomorrow is looking really good though, then I’m off for five glorious days.
I filled up a half tank yesterday, and the prices was 5 cents higher than Tuesday. They went up another 5 cents today. But the pipeline from La. is shut down during the storm.
{{{{BooFae}}}}. I’m losing a friend a year from my hockey Convention group.
Reduced for quick sale due to being near the sell-by date. I think I stole that one from Moom or some other person around here. Anything like that is considered “used meat”.
On an unrelated note -------- TPTB at Da Jungle announced that in a few weeks our starting time is moving ------ back ------- three hours! Our shift will now be 6-11pm. I can live with that but I seem to be very much the exception. Day-sort is moving from 9:30 to 12:30 and are even less happy than us. The natives are very restless and sharpening their arrows. And guess who the lucky fellow is who is doing a double tomorrow surrounded by pissed off people? Lucky me!!! :smack:
Speaking from my own experience with Katrina, you begin by making yourself available. Your friend is going to feel like they are throwing their whole life into the junk pile on the curb. Having someone to talk to always helps. If time, money, and health allow for it, an extra pair of hands to help with the work would likely be greatly appreciated. If you can, see if you can find some memento or keepsake from times gone by to give to your friend as a “house re-warming” present for when they are re-furnishing their house.
My MiL is leaving early tomorrow (woo), although it’s for a sad reason. Her uncle is about to pass, so she’s hurrying home. He’s a fine gentleman and he will be missed.
We went on a short hike today and saw some waterfalls. Gotti’s heatwave is coming this way too.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 85 mostly cloudy and possible rain this afternoon. We shall see. The big project today is rib smokeage which shall crank up shortly. Dindin will be majik intartoobz pizza.
{{{Sunny and MIL}}} Also be safe and stay cool.
OK, now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. I also need to get goin’ on the ribs and then purtify I reckon.
I was jarred awake this morning by a dream that my mother and BIL were coming to our house, BIL walked in carrying Taz, and Bernie was with them. Bernie has been gone for 6 or 7 years and I’m not sure why she’d pop up in my dream. And that’s why I’m up stupid early on my day off. Dammit.
I will take credit for used meat. It became part of the family lexicon decades ago and it warms the cockles of my heart to know I’ve spread it to Mumpers far and wide!
From the unused meat department, I put 2 racks of ribs in the fridge last night, well covered in our favorite rub. Once **FCD **and I move the smoker on the porch under cover, smokeage shall begin. We’ll take some to Mom’s tomorrow for lunch - a little treat for my still-crippled sis.
Speaking of my sis, she had a phone consult with the orthopedist who was my bro’s roomie in college and who did several of FCD’s surgeries. He told my sis that the problems she’s having with recovering from knee replacement occur in about 5% of cases. She’s none too thrilled to be one of the special cases, but I think it put her mind at ease to know that she can trust her doctor. Doesn’t make the pain and agony any less, but it’s one less thing to wonder about.
**gotti **- 115??? Yoiks! I’ll refrain from mentioning that it’s 64 here right now and our house has been open since the weekend… ooops, guess I did mention it.
I know there’s more I wanted to say but it’s still too early and I haven’t caffeinated yet. So Happy Firday!
Got up at 5:30 or so, and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I drank a coffee and ate some cereal, and here I am.
I have a lot to do today, so maybe it’s good I got up early. And now, to kill some more time online.
They took our Ambassadors away from learning and made them OPS which is why I basically resigned the title more than a month ago. I have several serious bets out there right now that someone is going to try to pop one in the snoot as a way of getting their voice heard. Really and truly. You took a lot of unhappy people and basically told them they are going to have to leave. The next month is going to be very dicey and tense.
PS – not time to try anything but the Board is acting up bad. I had to hit reply and sign in several times to make any sort of post.
**swampy **- I’m warming up the smoker. The ribs are on foil on the 4 shelves, waiting to be slid into the smoker when it comes up to temp. I’m using apple chips for this batch. GMTA!
Afghans have gone thru a rinse cycle and they’re in the dryer now in an attempt to remove all feline fur. Then I’ll bag 'em and toss 'em into the trunk. Jeans are in the washer - I’m going to do dryer today rather than the clotheslines. It’s not supposed to rain till later, but it is forecast to stay cloudy, which means drying may take forever. Ergo, the dryer.
I need to box up a bunch of the spare picture frames we’ve got - my sis said she could use some, and my mom might want some. I’ve also got to get some of the old cheapie plastic pots out of the garden shed for all the plants I’m getting at Mom’s tomorrow. And I need to put a note on the door so I don’t forget to take the smoked salmon with us. So much to remember, so little brain…
Took a tumble in my kitchen and busted my elbow and jammed my shoulder. Sore today. Got 4 stitches and xray… nothing broke. Wet tile, barefeet not a good combo.
{{{Butters}}} - you just can’t catch a break, can you?
I figure the ribs should be done by 3 or so. I just dumped some more chips in. Afghans have been rinsed, dried, folded, and bagged, and they’re in the trunk of the car with the pots for the flowers I’m getting from Mom tomorrow. **FCD **still at work - so much for “I won’t be long.” Maybe I should call him and meet him for lunch? That kinda depends on the timing of the laundry. We shall see.
Meanwhile, it’s mostly overcast, breezy, and quite cool - like mid-60s cool. It’s great having the windows open!
Rib smokeage is completed. They look and smell so nummy! OK, they are nummy. A little bit just fell into my mouth. Smoker has been sprayed down. I’ll fool with it at some point either tomorrow or Sunday.
It has been a rough couple weeks with the sinus infection/bronchitis whatever, new staff, busy and now a bum shoulder and elbow. I am really sore. getting too old to be falling down.
2 and a half more hours to go. My house is a disaster but it will have to wait. I am working half day tomorrow and then 2 and 1/2 days off to recoup. We have some ribs that need cooking as well but it will have to be in the oven.
