When no one wants to start the MMP.

I replace the grunge encrusted grills on my late FIL’s gas grill. I have been scrubbing it with a plastic brush. How do our grilling and smoking experts keep their grills clean?

Majik Intartoobz Pizza and bag sallit have been ingested.

flytrap I spray the racks, drip pan, top, sides, and bottom of my smoker with a degreaser and let it set. Then I wipe down the sides, top and bottom of the smoker with hot water and old cloths I keep around for such things. I usually do that twice. The racks, drip pan and water pan get washed with soap and water. As for the grill, I clean the grids with degreaser, soap and water from time to time. The innards I replace maybe once or just buy a new grill after a few years. I don’t buy the super expensive gas grills so I figure I get my money’s worth.

Couldn’t decide what I wanted for supper, so I made a scrambled egg sammich with a slice of provolone on top. Turns out that’s not what I wanted, either. <sigh>

We went to DQ - a peanut buster parfait makes things better.

Thanks!

We had some tornadic activity in the area last night along with accompanying flooding. Harvey’s like a bad case of herpes, it doesn’t just stop with one. It’s been cold, drizzly and windy all day. Nelson refused to do his business outside last night, so when I got up to go to the bathroom around 2, I noticed that there was a lull in the rain and leashed him up.

Sonic fixed me a bacon cheeseburger on Texas toast and tots for supper. I’s tahred.

So glad for the long weekend! RT will be able to make it home in the morning so that he can go with me to my race. This makes me happy as I don’t like to go alone. Especially when it’s going to be cold and soggy. I think he actually gets the whole weekend off and won’t have to go back until Tuesday.

In other news, one of my aunts hates me because of something I did to help my mother years ago (like, probably 20 years ago or more). Well, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Whatever.

With a (gas) grill; just put it on high when you take the food off; when you’re done eating, go out & turn it off. It’s kinda like the ‘self-clean’ option on your oven. It burns everything up to a crisp, then just brush it off before next use. The hardest part is remembering to turn it off; otherwise you’ve got an empty propane tank / used a lot of natural gas/created a fire hazard if you forget.

For the smoker, the parts that touch edible things (food racks & liquid/drip pan) are brought inside to the sink & liberally scrubbed w/ steel wool. I don’t see any point in cleaning out the insides of it for a number of reasons:
No [ul]
[li]No food touches the sides.[/li][li]Anything on it is smoke residue; good luck cleaning that off.[/li][li]It stays outside.[/li][/ul]
If/when it gets dirty, I’ll hose it off.

/so far today we’ve had a tornado watch, a tornado warning, a flash flood warning, and golfball sized hail(15 miles south of me). And Gas is up to $2.59. Thanks Harvey.

I’m making spicy teriyaki chicken with rice and green beans.

I spray them down with Easy-Off oven cleaner and let them sit in the sun a while and then hit them with the wire brush.

Unless they are really bad and more rust than grease — in which case I use a sanding-sponge.

Work is done until Monday afternoon and we’re heading for King’s Island. WOOHOO!!!

Gas is $2.69 so far.

The dishwasher is washing dishes. I’ve been crocheting, but I’m tahred, so I’m thinking it’s time to go back to bed. We’re heading up to Mom’s kinda early tomorrow so we can get home at a decent hour.

<yawn>

do they still have the beast ? I was there when it new and everyone who rode it got a free shirt that said "I survived the beast "

I had one of those shirts.

When I filled up this afternoon, mid-grade was up to $2.69. I was down to one bar and it took $28 to fill up a Yaris. That’s eight dollars over what I have ever put in before.

For the…everything challenged, perhaps. :dubious:

The old porcelain withstood wire brushes (which can loose wires and impact your gut, I should have invited you and Dogbutt over for ribs), being dropped onto concrete and being banged with the business end of the above brush.
Burned debris clung to food.
I am cleaning the new grills with a soft brush after each use now.

Thanks!

I still have the old grill, come over for ribs! Bring Dogbutt!

What does it mean, “sanding sponge”?

doggioo I heard bout the hail in Raliegh.

Off to bef for me.

$2.59 would be low here in my area.

Not sure why it’s so hard to find out what today’s high temperature was. Bonus points for smoke and gunk in the area that make my sinuses unhappy.

PJ day at irk tomorrow (it’s been a week of dress-oddly days, ranging from hippie to tropical to “team color”).

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work. Then I get to watch football after work.
