Where’s the new MMP. Wake up Mumpers MMP

As I predicted, much sloth happened here. Hubs thinks he needs to downsize his gun collection so took four of them to town to put on consignment. I opened the door for him and hit the fob to open his trunk because I’m so helpful.

I attempted to make my calls, but holiday, so I’ll be putting that note back on my monitor.

VBC has a sore on her paw again, poor girl. She has a wonky dewclaw that has turned so far inwards that even the shortest claw spike sticks into her paw. I’m a huge fan of having cats fixed and happily paid to have her reproductive organs cut out and removed but I am having all sorts of problems with the idea of having her toe cut off .

My thumbs have also been hurting and I agree, holding a cold beer helps

I’d ask the vet about the claw. It might be kindest to just remove the dewclaw, or there may be another adjustment that they could make that would help. I don’t think it would be the same level of severity as removing a claw from a toe. IANAV (obviously)

I agree with you that I need to talk to the vet, but I have a visceral reaction to declawing a cat, which is what it will be. I have a vet appointment next week and I think that he will agree with both of us that the dewclaw should be removed.

For the record, removing the claw from a toe is declawing. The distal joint is surgically removed taking the claw follicle away. It’s something like having the first joints of a person’s fingers cut off to stop the nails from growing.

And lets be happy that I figured something out. I’ve been trying to figure out how to blur things since I joined, my distaste for the subject finally motivated me to pay attention and do it. Go me!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Bizzy day ahead. I’m letting the pellet stove burn out so I can clean it before refilling - there’s a fun task. At 9:45, I need to meet SIL at the Dr office - today’s Toby’s 2-month servicing. Roxy’s school is closed thru tomorrow because of COVID, so I’ll be taking her to the library while her papa takes her brother in for his checkup. Then they’ll meet us at the library and I’ll give her back. (Speaking of COVID, BIL is out of ICU and in a regular room. Frankly, I’m amazed, considering all his health problems.)

Higgs has a grooming appointment at 4 - she desperately needs her nails clipped, plus all the rest of the stuff. Even tho FCD has theoretically been cleared to drive, he’s not ready to manage a dog in the car, so I get that honor.

Between those two errands, I have a metric buttload of laundry to do, since it includes sheets, and I should clean Higgs’ bedding since she’ll be clean and all. So, yep, bizzy day. But I’ve got a couple of hours to chill and caffeinate before I need to shower and don goin’-out-in-public clothing, so there’s that.

doggio - I don’t get cramps, but occasionally, my fingertips will go numb. I strongly suspect it’s related to my posture because it seems to happen when I’m bent over knitting too intently and don’t look up enough. Still, this getting old crap is getting old!!!

Happy Tuesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 30 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 57 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. YEEHAW! I shall also plop a small beast roast in the slow cooker along with some peppers 'n onions. That shall get turned into cheesesteaks for sup along with oven fries.

Nellie that was a weird thing for him to say. I lean toward thinkin’ he has been on flights where the oxygen masks dropped. I would not want to see that either.

Gettin’ old means various parts of the body decide to randomly hurt for no conceivable reason. Indeed, it ain’t for sissies!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Good morning everyone.

It’s around 44 degrees and cloudy outside with the possibility of a couple of rain showers in the afternoon. Temps will remain firmly in the mid to upper 40s, so no wild weather is coming our way. I think…at least for the next couple of days.

Well, it’s back to work today, not that I’m looking forward to it. I am sure there will be many WHAT?! emails in response to the email I had to send out on Thursday concerning another FS employee who tested positive for COVID and had been in our building. Plus, the new Director is officially sworn in today and starts her training. She won’t physically come to the office until next week, but I am sure I will be in touch with her over the next few days. Hopefully, she doesn’t have any computer issues. Hers was supposed to be shipped to her house.

Ah well, it’ll be a short week which means I have a lot to cram into today, tomorrow and Thursday.

I am thinking I probably have a pinched nerve somewhere. My right pinky finger constantly goes numb.

Butters, I hope all goes well and you get the house and location YOU want.

shoe, I’m hoping for only good things for you.

Well, I need to get another cup of coffee, so I’ll quit here. Have a great day everyone.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a whopping 6C/41F outside today, been sunny for a while and now it’s cloudy. I am at irk, it is irksome as ever.

unknown, the vet diagnosed hyperthyroidism in the end so we are starting Ophie on low dosage Thyronorm oral solution. That should be easier to get down her, she won’t take a tablet and I can’t easily crush one to put over food as she and Whisper have some kind of tag team thing going with food bowls. Shadow doesn’t eat wet food so he’s not a problem. I might end up putting some on a little bit of food and shoving it in front of her face, making sure she scoffs it before he gets his big noggin in the way.

Also, sorry to hear about your own feline woes - declawing is something I can’t agree with unless it’s absolutely necessary and it sounds like this would be one of those very rare exceptions. Still, good idea to talk to the vet and get their opinion in case there is anything else that can be done instead.

nellie that was definitely a strange thing for a flight attendant to say. Maybe he’s just bored with safety demonstrations that nobody pays attention to.

Mooom good news on BIL then…I suppose that means you’re stuck with him for a bit longer…

Nothing exciting in my day, grocery shopping tonight when I get home from work, and I have leftover chilli in the fridge for dinner afterwards.

Well, not too stuck - he lives in Texas, so like 1500 miles away. But I’m glad for his mother’s and wife’s sakes.

Verizon debited our account, but we’re no longer with Verizon, so I need to get my $59 and change back somehow. Dammit. Always something.

On the plus side, I’m showered and dressed and about to clean the pellet stove. Then in an hour or so, I fetch Roxy. Sheesh, too busy…

Guys, so far I hate this year. I’m a whiny asshat because none of this is actually happening to me but it still sucks.

Because Alzheimer’s taking my dad wasn’t enough, last week a friend passed away of stomach cancer. We got the text on our way to Costco and at first assumed it had to be a joke because the text came from his phone and he’s pulled really off-color, inappropriate pranks in the past. We called his wife and she confirmed she’d texted from his phone. He was in hospice, they’d just taken him off life support and he died later that night. Mom’s chemo starts Thursday, port goes in tomorrow. I’m actually happy about that because I hope that after the side effects wear off it’ll give her some relief, assuming it’s successful.

In a plot twist, we learned Friday my son needs a spinal fusion, which is no small surgery. Poor kid. He has severe scoliosis and his curve has progressed beyond the point of no return. If we don’t do it now, the deformity could get way worse really fast. There is a bright side, though, which is primarily that it’s doable though it’ll hurt. Also, he will literally grow about two inches within a span of three hours. He’ll have a straight spine and a badass scar. I told him he needs to take the time spent in bed to make up a really cool backstory.

Such is the litany of my complaints.

Anyway, the day is bright, it’s supposed to be absolutely beautiful this afternoon. I’ve already hopped on the treadmill and feel marginally less insane, which is nice. I’m going to have a cookie later because I really want one. My daughter and I pick up a packet of oreos every couple of weeks - the rule is that we have to try a different flavor every week, especially if they have a special addition. Last night’s purchase was some chocolate cake type oreo, which we’ve hidden from my husband.

Morning all. Was another 'sleep in past 8am because I can" day. Need to go to Target later this morning and check out Consumer Cellular as some recommended last week, and also stop by the Drs. office regarding my prescriptions, so that should eat up the morning. Have a soccer meeting at 6pm, forgot the last one so I’m making myself notes to remember this one (I give myself a 70% chance of remembering it).

FCM, glad BIL is doing better, some folks just seem to manage to live on no matter what their condition is. Have a good day moving folks around.

Hope all the felines get better soon.

Taters, best wishes for a competent boss.

nellie, Flight attendant was probably was having a long week and you have to think they are as bored with those presentations as most flyers are. Wouldn’t have that job for anything.

OK, onward into the day. All y’all take care.

Short heave. End of the quarter budget cuts and all that. At least they haven’t run out of tape and package labels.YET

Maybe he was flying with Ted Styker when they lost George Zip?

Sleeping wrong, and being crippled for a week. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Yeah, officially known as a plate joiner, but nobody but the manufacturers call it that. It works pretty well for making strong edge joints in woodworking, but I think I only used it a few times.

Well I s’pose I ought to put on my boots and think about shoveling the thing at the end of the driveway. Sadly, I forgot the shovel in the garage before the snow started. Detached garage, it’s like 50 yards down the driveway from the house. I don’t really need to shovel the whole drive, I can just put the truck into 4x4, but I doubt it’d make it through the plow pile.

Back from first errand. Roxy got bored at the library pretty quickly, but we sat in the lobby on library WiFi and I let her watch some Cocomelon till her dad arrived. Tobias was not happy, what with getting his 2 month vaccinations, but he’s over 11# and almost 24" and apparently growing well. So yay.

FCD, on the other hand, has an infection in a molar and it needs to come out. Our dentist doesn’t do extractions and he’s trying to find a place that can get him in fairly soon. Because spinal surgery and two knees aren’t enough for one man in one year… He’s able to drive, but he said getting in and out of his car is tough. Poor guy.

I’ve got the dog’s bedding in the dryer and our bedding in the washer. I’ll drag the rest of the dirties downstairs after I’m done lunching. The only remaining errand is taking Higgs to the groomer for her 4 o’clock appointment. And I need to decide what we’re having for supper, if FCD wants to eat.

And the good times keep rollin’ along…

The Toffee Crunch ones are pretty darn good! :yum: I’m still annoyed that they took away the pistachio ones though.

[quote=swampy]
Best wishes for son’s surgery. Sound tough.

Preach it, brother!

36f and cloudy here today. Driving back to the valley today. I hope we get done with this move soon. we’re reaching our wit’s end.

Happy toosday!

nellie I think he was making a not funny joke.

You absolutely should have a strong reaction! I’m with you. I don’t like it. This may be a unique case though. Poor cat.

doggio how are you feeling?

talky {{{hugs}}}, {{{hugs}}}, and {{{hugs}}}.

Akiko is super annoyed about something. No clue what. I have been up for 30 minutes and I’m ready to sleep again.

Take care everyone

… and I bet you’re SOOOOOO SAD.

Thanks. Y’all are the bestest. {{ happy sounds}} I am shoveling myself together, and getting my mental s#!t together.
Much of my angst was work related, but that’s being slowly sorted out.

Oh, yeah. Inappropriate Crushy-Poo thought I was permanently leaving (and seemed sad about it!) and we had a few brief text chats. He mentioned being glad I was back on the schedule.

Me: “I wanna learn to be Pit Boss. Then I can feel like I kick ass.”
ICP: “Okay bet you already kick a shit ton of ass but I can teach you how to kick some more.”
Me: { happy noises }

I’m slowly learning how to stand up for myself. It’s something I was taught to NOT do, but sometimes, ya gotta.

Me, too. I have two humidifiers going simultaneously; not sure what else to do. Feels like being punched in the face all the time. Heated winter air is so DRY dammit.

Isn’t it interesting that men are assertive, but women are bitches? I find I still want to apologize for being a bother when I know full well I’m not a bother - I just need to have something settled. It’s tough to change that mindset, especially when it’s pounded into your head from childhood that you need to be a “nice girl.” The trick is to be firm, know what you want or need, and insist upon it without playing games. You know, like a man would…

You got this!!

Fourth load in the washer, third in the dryer. That will be all for today. In an hour, I have to take Higgs to the groomer. FCD is snoozing again - he’s got an appt in 2 weeks to have his bad tooth evaluated. In the meantime, he’s taking antibiotics.

I got things straightened out with Verizon - I do like using the chat function to deal with them. It’s a little slow, but I have a record of what was said, and I’m not left hanging on hold. My questions were answered and it’s all good.
