Where’s the new MMP. Wake up Mumpers MMP

The grands are gone and peace has returned. I got rid of our garbage, but for some reason, the weren’t accepting recycling, so that’s all still in the truck. Supper was cream of N.O.T. soup - yum!!

It was a nice day, weatherwise, but nasties are forecast for tomorrow. I’m about to run to the dollar store - I need scouring pads, and chances are, some ice cream will leap into my hands…

{{{VanGo}}} Skritches were given in your name.

Isn’t it good to be able to navigate going places nellie?

That was hilarious unknown!

taters, I hope that there’s no permanent damage to Adam’s foot (says THAT kid who was always in and out of the ER).

{{{butters}}} I hope that your pain subsides quickly.

It was 54F and raining cats and dogs (I know! I stepped in a poodle. :stuck_out_tongue: ) when I came home from irk, so out came the ducky slicker. It’s supposed to get down to the teens with freezing rain and snow tonight. Ma Nature needs to get back on her meds.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy Hump Day!

No park, no daycare, I slept in. Which is becoming a VeryBadHabit.

I made myself eat something this morning (Bob Evans mac and cheese) and it does make a huge difference in how I feel.

Waiting for groceries to be delivered. I don’t know how badly the order is messed up. I got a call that they brought them out, way early, then realized they were missing a bunch of stuff and had to go back. I ordered over $200 and my bill is for $120. I hope it gets fixed.
If I’m paying a delivery fee, I want my money’s worth.
We really don’t need anything but I am having weird cravings, like for stewed tomatoes.
Just got off the phone with them, what’s missing is missing and I am a bit annoyed.

I dream about my pets from the past. Always kind of sad.
Then again, I dream about people who have passed. Those dreams don’t bother me so much for whatever reason.
The weird one is when I go to the cemetery to visit somebody. I’ll knock on the tombstone, the ground will open up, and I’ll walk down into the grave and have tea with them. Always tea, and a nice chat per Sometimes they even invite a few neighbors over. All perfectly normal.
In real life I’d faint.

It’s awfully hard VanGo.
I know.
I swore when Mackie died that I would never ever get another dog, that I would not put myself through that again.
That lasted about 2 weeks.

{{{Butters}}}

MetalMouse, I do not hold it together well at all.
I was telling a friend the other day, that when I was growing up, my aunts on my father’s side were always upset about something. I used to look at them and think they were crazy; I could not understand them at all. They were nothing like the women on my mother’s side, who were the strong, stoic, farm wives.
Now, I am one of them. I get rattled very easily, and I don’t like it.

I dream about a few past pets. Sometimes, I dream about pets that were years apart hanging out together. Most of the time, they are comforting dreams.

Thank you, all of my imaginary internet friends. Y’all have made this past week a lot better.

I don’t think Cin and my previous dog, Tango would have gotten along. They were both sooo sweet with people, but neither one of them liked other dogs. Except for my best friend’s now gone dog, Dini. I bet old disapproving-grandma Dini has the two of them romping happily together.

Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions and I got church janitor JW stuff done. We had sup. That, along with nappage and sloth comprised the day. We are grumpy old men who are slowly becomin’ grumpy old recluses.

Taters hope Adam is not broken. Kids break themselves. I know cause I was one and I did.

Butters what an ick thing to happen! Everyone I know who has used one sings the praises of knee scooters. Hope the house works out for ya.

Boo here’s hopin’ Sorenson does not have the plague.

Nellie that’s a lot of medical stuff in one day! I’ll bring the cheese straws.

Oh, the room full of onlookers seemed very amused.

Why would you steal In and Out trays? More to the point, what do you use In and Out trays for.

Geeze louise, that just isn’t fair. I’m so sorry.

I know. I was young and immortal back then. I wouldn’t consider doing it now. Of course, I wouldn’t being a vibrator with me either because I’m old enough to know that Japanese people use toys as well.

I will send prayers and good thoughts that everything goes well.

Today was a free produce day and holy cow, they had a lot of tomatoes. So much that after the regulars got their boxes, they still had cases left over and were posting on facebook and Nextdoor hoping people would come and get some.

I had lunch with my BFF. 6 months ago, a stray cat showed up on their doorstep. They didn’t want a cat and while they did like petting the kitty, they weren’t going to let her in the house. Today she told me she had to buy a new robe because kitty liked using her old one as a bed.

Evening all. The rain that has been promised all day finally showed up about an hour ago, and it is trying to make up for it’s delinquency by pouring down fairly hard (if my ears are any judge. Hope it’ll stop (or at least pause) soon so I can get the garbage out to the corner. I also need to set my alarm, the Pest people are doing their semi-annual termite inspection and they said they are coming by between 8 and 9am, so I need to be presentable for them.

Did visit a couple of gyms, one took a great interest, asked me lots of questions and let me play with a couple of the machines, but they’re expensive. The other one handed me info and just gave me a tour, not as well equipped as the other place but a lot cheaper. Need to visit 2-3 more and pickup info at the YMCA to compare.

Sari, I am one of those stoics (albeit I’ve never farmed a day in my life) and I think you’re hanging tough…never underestimate yourself.

talky, best wishes for Mom-unit, and that surgery is relatively uncomplicated.

Cookie, Unknown, never have used any illegal substance, but I did get some looks in London once when they opened my briefcase found some…ummm…‘grown-up’ magazines…the lady inspecting the luggage looked at them for a loooonnnnggg time before letting me proceed (hey, it was 30 years ago!)

Butters, I think the knee scooter is a good idea. Hope it helps. And that the housing issues get resolved to your satisfaction.

Ok, need to do the weekly shredding and get the garbage out, rain or no. Everyone have a good night.

So a friend called me today: “Hey, Nellie, just thought I’d call while waiting for the results of my home COVID test! How was your trip? Is your sister–oh, shit.” Yep, a positive test. She’s fully vaxxed, wears N95 masks, but none of that was enough. A couple hours later, Old Flame called to say his mom and his daughter both got positive tests today. Getting this is starting to feel inevitable.

Yes! Before, my world was very small and very blurry. It’s still a little blurry, but oh, so much better! It’s like being able to take a full breath again, if that makes any sense.

You are hereby the guest of honor.

I’m impressed that you skipped right over the 4 handbags and 50 bottle openers to get to the heart of the matter.

Getting enough rest is something many people rarely do. You deserve some you time, enjoy!

I did get some looks in London once when they opened my briefcase found some…ummm…‘grown-up’ magazines
Ya shoulda gone to Okinawa. Back then (+40 years ago) business men in suits often read adult magazines on the bus. Nobody paid attention. I once watched a couple of 14 or 15 year old girls run into each other at a park and admire each other’s blouse so much that they traded right then and there. Nobody paid attention. OK, so I paid attention, but I was a big nose, so I didn’t count.
LOL, I can easily figure out why anyone would need 4 handbags and everyone needs bottle openers but can never find on when they need it so having a few extras makes perfect sense (I have about 30 thread pullers which I never use because I’m too vain).

As I recall In and Out trays are orange so won’t really match someone’s living room colors, they have a rough surface which isn’t good for most crafts and the small lip means they can’t be used as dustpans. The best I could come up was to put under plants or pet bowls and pretend they aren’t orange? I have so many questions, LOL!

Despite having serious vision problems myself, sometimes descriptions like this make me gasp irl because of the impact. Wow, that was an amazing metaphor, very powerful.

Shortly around the time our Lucky cat went blind in his old age, I read a book about a teenager who was born blind but got a decent amount of her vision back due to experimental surgery. The one thing I took from that book was when she had to learn how to run because blind people don’t run. The things you don’t think about until someone slaps you in the face with them…

Hubs has banished GG’s water fountain to the catio. GG is big enough to splash water four and five feet away when he’s having a good time, so he doesn’t get water in the house again for at least 6 months. Every time hubs tries to give me grief about buying a slow maturing kitten I tell him that getting vaxed sure would have been a whole lot cheaper and easier. Then we don’t talk to each other for a couple of hours.

Hubs spoils GG just the same as he always does with our pets and he’d be horrified if I suggested giving GG away, he just really wants GG to turn into a cat.

The canvas for my unfinished project hasn’t arrived yet and I find myself unwilling to spend much time stitching. I think my subconscious is telling me to slow down so I don’t run out, something like FCD and pain meds.

Napped.
Why would you steal In and Out trays?
Because we don’t have In n’ Out in N.C.

Put food on 'em, let preemies go snow sledding in winter…

{{{{wordy}}}}

{{{{Butters}}}}
but good for ordering the scooter.

Well, now that you have explained, I understand perfectly and am sorry that I doubted you!

GG has proven that he can track water from the catio door to the dining room. That’s my Kovid Kat, go GG!

If you could explain the rest of it please, I’d like to know.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. We might get :grimacing: Snopocalypse II: Electric Boogaloo :grimacing: tonight

Well, the puck bottle openers were leftovers from a giveaway, and the purses(gold lamé) had been used to haul things around Vegas. Nothing exceptionally wierd.
Although a friend from Philly used to bring one of his wife’s toys(green, suction cup base) to Convention, and put it in one of the hospitality room beer coolers.
Person: < reaches for Bud Light >
Toy: < squishes seductively >
Person: :open_mouth:
Us:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 41 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 62 and rainy this afternoon and evenin’. We have nowhere we need or want to go, so let it rain I say. Sloth skills shall be honed today. We shall break the fast for sup with ham 'n cheese omelets, grits, and bizkits. YUM!

Wordy hope all goes well for mom today.

doggio I would have been appalled to find the toy in the cooler. Not because of the kind of toy, but because it was takin’ up space that could have been used for beer. One must have priorities!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Good morning.

It’s around 50 degrees and there is light rain. It’s supposed to rain off and on most of the day, I think.

It’s going to be a long day. My first meeting is at 6:00 am and my last meeting isn’t scheduled to end until 5:30 pm.

Wordy, I hope everything goes well for your mother today.

Butters, I used a knee cart when I broke my ankle. Trying to crutch around a multi-story and spread-out hospital campus (where I worked at the time) was really difficult on crutches. I loved that cart. I put a cup holder on it for my coffee too.

Adam acted like his leg didn’t bother him yesterday and did not want to sit still. He was crawling everywhere since he couldn’t walk with the splint on and my daughter was having a heck of a time keeping him still. They probably won’t get to see the orthopedic specialist until next week. It’s going to be a long week for Adam, the kids, and his sister.

Nellie, I’m so happy that your vision has improved enough for you to be able to get around and do more.

There really isn’t much going on. Today is my Friday and tomorrow I get my hair done-did. I haven’t had a haircut since July so I am very much overdue.

With doggio, I find it’s just safer to smile and nod and move on…

Just Toby today, and he’s crashed in his swing, giving me a chance to eat breakfast. I was running way late this morning - woke after 6!!! So I barely had time to shower, dress, and tend to the critters before I had to meet my daughter at the school. I hope things chill a bit now. I don’t need a crazy day.

FCD got an appt today with the oral surgeon - they called yesterday with a cancellation, so that was good news. He’ll be heading over to Prince Frederick after lunch. I hope they can get the teeth yanked soon - he’s got enough to deal with the knee without a painful jaw.

Just a word or warning - I plan to dust today. :open_mouth: So if you feel a disturbance in The Force…

After I deliver Toby back to his mom this afternoon, I’ll run to Food Lion for a few things, then home again. What a fun day ahead!

Happy Thursday!!

Morning all. Termite control guy is here to inspect, hasn’t found any yet, so looks like I’m good for another 6 months. Haven’t had termites in 15 years, so I don’t know if it’s because of their service or just good luck, but it’s not to expensive and does give me some peace of mind. At least it got me dressed and ready for public, so I may head out this morning to continue by gym browsing and maybe phone shopping.

Rain is gone but so in the warm (for the season) weather; it’s 29F outside and only due to get to 35F today. Heater will get a workout.

doggio, I may be wrong, but I think Sunny might have been asking about the

remark–that puzzled me a bit too.

nellie, must have missed that, glad you’re eyesight is better. But sorry so many others tested positive; hopefully being vaccinated they won’t get sick (or at least to sick).

Unknown, I do enjoy my daily updates on GG the cat. And regarding the girl’s trading blouses, if that had happened where I lived (Abu Dhabi, UAE), they’d probably have been arrested…world is weird.

OK, termite inspection is complete, so need to forage for sustenance here in a bit. And I just realized that I hauled the garbage out last night in the rain, but Monday was MLK day so they probably won’t come until Friday now…do wish my brain would work a bit faster…

All y’all take care.

I hope that everything goes well for your mom today wordy.

I left for irk about 15 minutes early this morning. Once I got out onto my street, I decided that home was the place to be, so I turned around in the parking lot of a factory down the street. The rain (and snow) turned to ice overnight and my street had not been brined.

I’ve spent the morning finishing the studio organization and will begin a new project in a bit. Right now, there’s a little reddish dog sleeping in my lap.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a whopping 4C/39F out there, sunny but very cold. Apparently we are set to have our coldest night of the year so far tonight…good job I have no reason to set foot outside the house (unless you count scuttling across the road to post a birthday card, and it will be a very quick scuttle!).

{{{{{Wordy}}}}} hope all goes well for your mum today.

{{{{{Butters}}}}} sorry to hear your tale of woe, I hope the foot feels a little better today. Good to hear that the housing situation is getting fixed too, hopefully you’ll get what you want from it.

Sunny it’s becoming a daily challenge to find a new name for our tow-headed wazzock, not that there aren’t several I could choose from already!

unknown I hadn’t considered blind people and running either, only because we have a local celebrity blind guy who runs marathons (he has a guide dog and a sighted helper though). I did have a moment’s pause at the vet’s the other day when the two receptionists were discussing someone bringing in a guide dog for treatment. Normally the owners leave the animal and go off to do other things until they are ready to be collected. Guess blind person can’t easily do that either.

Nothing exciting in my day today. Irking at home, still irksome as I’ve got a problem student to sort out. Fortunately the commute is very short, and I have an exercise class to look forward to. I sneaked a look at it this morning (new classes come out on Monday and Thursday), today’s is a classic rock special so full of songs I know, and routines I’m more familiar with. Fun times!
