Where’s the new MMP. Wake up Mumpers MMP

I’ll hafta go back later to read, I’ve gotten behind. Just poking in to say “hi” before heading back to work. Much love to all y’all today, you’re my rock lately.

MetalMouse - I meant to mention earlier, some eons back, we had a membership at the Y to use their gym, and it was really nice. There was a variety of well-maintained equipment and the staff was helpful in explaining how to use it. Unfortunately, there’s no Y within 50 miles of us, but our county has a really nice facility at the local college (it used to belong to the college, but they sold it to the county.) Similar setup, not at all crowded, and not stinky/sweaty like some of the local gyms. FWIW.

Just got off the phone with Medicare and the billing office for my dermatologist - for some reason, several of the contractors who act between Medicare and insurance providers didn’t get the word that I’d dropped PartB. But it’s all straightened out now, theoretically. The derm’s billing office agent wasn’t very good at listening, but I think I got her to understand what’s going on. We shall see. It would probably be easier to just pay and submit the claim myself, but I ain’t gonna do that.

Tobster has been fed and he’s snoozing. I dusted and vacuumed, and shortly, I’ll make myself some lunch. It’s still raining and icky out, but until I turn him over to his mom, I don’t have to leave the house. FCD is napping again - poor guy. He hasn’t has a solid night’s sleep in ages. I feel so helpless - there’s nothing I can do for him.

I had a bit of a fright this morning. I’m in the left-most lane of the 5, driving south through Everett. It’s raining enough for my intermittent wipers to be on their quickest setting, but not so much I need to turn them to continuous. Traffic is moving well, right around 50 to 60 mph. Suddenly, I’m passed by a faster car in the HOV lane. He drove through a puddle and absolutely inundated my car. Since I couldn’t see anything, I applied the brakes, hoping I’d stay within my lane and hoping I didn’t hit anyone. At the same time, I swatted the wiper stalk down all the way. (Toyota. Down is on.) I could not see out of the car for a full second, which is a long time on a crowded freeway at a reasonable speed.

Forgot to mention - BIL went home from the hospital yesterday. Honestly, I didn’t expect that. It appears the vax really can keep one from dying of COVID - go figure!!

Small kids need small sleds. And the thought of tiny infants bouncing down hills on tiny orange trays makes me giggle.

I’ve been waffling over retirement (May 6, 2022). This morning I got an email that pushed me over the edge. My last day of employment will indeed be May 6, 2022. I just announced it at a staff meeting.

I like your small reddish dog.

talky sending my best wishes to your mom.

nellie I’m glad your contact is working. I know you were quite worried.

shoe hi! back atcha.

Wet One congratulations on your impending sloth. I’m using Swampy as a yardstick, not FCM. I don’t think she does sloth. Metal Mouse is more on her side of the teeter totter. I blame the military. Clearly, you are needed to balance things out!

I managed to get my hands on some COVID tests - wheeee! If all goes well, 'Beamer shall attend school tomorrow. He shan’t want to, because Friday is the day that they do activities that they have earned through the week and he hasn’t been there. I’ll have to talk to his teacher to see what can be arranged.

I was up and down most of the night. I think I’m through most of the ick, but my asthma, gone for decades, is back with a vengeance. They want to see me at the clinic to evaluate it, which is fine, but I’m not sure I can drive that far yet. I may have to go to urgent care in the meantime.

Happy Weekend’s Eve everyone!

My insurance provider has this ‘wellness’ thing. Once a year, before the end of March, you fill out a self-assessment of your health online. Then you have a ‘biometrics examination’ from your PCP. The PCP faxes the completed form back to the insurance company. The patient receives a $100 Amazon gift certificate in a couple/few weeks.

What a pain in the arse! The self-assessment is a piece of piss. Getting the form for the PCP? Not so much. There’s nowhere obvious to get it. I had to spend a half hour or 45 minutes on the phone. There’s a link on my profile that eventually appeared, and that took me to Quest Diagnostics – where I had to log in (after already being logged into to my insurer’s site). What, I’m supposed to know my login in formation? I had them email my username. Then I had them email a password reset. Then I reset the password. Then I saw that I’d last logged in 11 months ago. I’m really going to remember my password from that long ago, right?

Anyway, I eventually got the physician’s results form with the barcode and everything, and I’ve printed it out.

Here’s the thing. The hunnert simoleons is supposed to be an incentive to get a physical every year. But the process of just getting the Fabrique Nationale form almost made me want to say, ‘Get a physical? Too much trouble.’

Afternoon all. Dishwasher is happily washing away, visited two gyms and the Best Buy (regarding phones) and have more information on both. The gym I like the most is also the most expensive ($40/month) and the one nearest to me has the best options for a workout (including a pool) for $25/month, but looks overly crowded to me. FCM, good suggestion, I’ve got a YMCA about 6 miles away, will probably go down there this afternoon or tomorrow and get their information. Might be a viable alternative.

doggio, thanks for the information, I thought that too, but rejected it as being too weird…I should have known better…y’all take care…

flyboy, I’ve that that blot-out before, usually from trucks coming the other way on a 2-lane road, but having it on the freeway–Yikes! And Fabrique Nationale is a name I know; dealt with them on helicopter mounted weapons for some of my international customers way back when.

wet one, welcome to the land of sloth come May. And Sunny, I take exception to

I am as slothful as Swampy!! I’ll have you know I can sloth with the best of them, if you could see me now…

OK, will now sloth my way through the afternoon. Take care all.

WOOHOO!!! Congrats!! :confetti_ball: :confetti_ball: :confetti_ball: :confetti_ball:

OK, it’s about time to give Toby one more clean diaper before returning him to his mama. Then I’m FREEEEEEEE!!!

Just using the initials as an expletive.

Ah…I see.

Howdy, not much happening today. We had a power outage for about an hour. I took a long nap, watched a sappy movie and made a pot of chili. And that’s all I’ve done all day.

I shall make for the shower soon and in a little while the neighbor will get Buddy for his walk. I have a check that needs to go to the bank and some cable boxes that need returning to the nearest UPS store. I think I will give my yard girl a call to do those two things for me. She offered and I gave her a bunch of kitchen stuff so she will be happy I asked. Plus I have her a cake carrier.

Then I shall find another movie or three to pass the rest of the day.

When I returned to Germany from a business trip to London, I was carrying a collectible replica house from a company called Lilliput Lanes as a gift. I got stopped by customs agents, even though I had a diplomatic passport (Germans really don’t give a shit about any of that), and they asked in German “what’s in the bag?” I don’t speak German, but I did know enough to be able to say ein kleines Haus (a small house). They pulled me out of line, probably thinking I was being a smart-ass, and called over a security guy with an automatic weapon, and proceeded to carefully lift the box out of the bag and open it. The guy looked in, looked at the others and said “Ja, ein kleines Haus” and waved me through.

Fourth use of my sous vide cooker - I’ve done steak, chicken, and poke, and tonight, it’s salmon. With salad, but that will be consumed raw. I’ll finish the salmon under the broiler.

FCD is getting his tooth yanked next Firday. I was absolutely amazed that our share is going to be just under $200. I was expecting 4 figures, as well as a longer wait. So yay!!!

Ugh, this new project is taking forever to get started. Do I tell them that lack of planning on their part does not make an emergency on my part? Or that delay in starting makes for higher cost? It’s now gone from 3 months to do the damn thing to 1.5.

Howdy Y’all! Sloth has reigned supreme today. We had a late N.O.L./early sup of breakfast. 'Twas sooooo good on a rainy, icky day. We now switch from sloth to chillage. OK, so there’s not much difference in the two, but one chills after sup. One must do these things right after all.

doggio you brought back memories of goin’ dinin’ hall trayin’, as we calleWIt would be the cause of my death if’n I tried it now.

WetOne congrats on the pendin’ becomin’ a retired drain on society. It’s the best. Gets better every day! I take great pride in my sloth skills and continually work to hone them even finer. World class slothin’ is a job in and of itself.

I figured, but I haven’t translated the “N” yet…

My apologies good sir. We’ll have to let FCM manage her side of the teeter totter all on her lonesome. Of course, I can’t be arsed to even get on.

I have fallen in love with online deposits. Snap a few photos and bam, it’s done. I highly recommend it, if they offer the option.

Well, yes. Something, something “compressed timeline” plus something, something “priority delivery” = this shiny new higher rate and/or project cost. I can massage the wording if you like.

We used to take cardboard boxes and “sled” down the hill behind the dining hill. You know, the one that stopped at the (hopefully) frozen lake. No one died, so there’s that.

I finally got a COVID test result - guess what? I have COVID! Good thing we have such easy and timely access to tests.

Say the letters together.

Was it a PCR test? I just took my first test (a rapid test) Tuesday.

A PCR test? It is to laugh. I took one days ago. No result yet. I finally got my hands on an antigen test. I thought by now it would be clear. Nope. Still infectious I am. Grrrrrr.
