Where’s the new MMP. Wake up Mumpers MMP

Moooooom, when I had a tooth pulled last summer, my part of the bill was only $164. It’s replacing them that goes into four figures.

swampy, GMTA. Tonight’s menu is brinner (Flornetine omelet and bacon).

Congrats on the upcoming retirement wet one! I’m envious.

{{{sunny}}} May your case be mild.

I slothed (is too a word!) most of the day, although I did manage to get the pharmacy to call my PCP to straighten out a prescription (the PCP office tends not to answer voice mail from patients, which is why I’m looking for another).

Just a couple of little venty things. Am I the only one who thinks that box o’ wine packaging has entirely too much glue holding the ends together? And I need something chocolaty and it’s only 6 PM.

sunny Best wishes that it’s a mild case.

doggio I remember tray sledding up at UMaine. Not big hills in Orono, but we made the best of them. It’d be a bad idea to tray sled where I live now. Hills are too steep.

He was tested negative and Grandma got to go over and work her nap-inducing magic. Well, they call it Grandma magic anyway. Tickles me to no end.

Then the two of us played on the living room rug while lawyer mama did her Zoom conference call. We clearly had a lot more fun than she did~much cuter attendees. Sorenson was wearing pjs with adorable sloths in cute poses. He handled all the cute for our team.

That boy has a tractor beam smile. He can haul you in from all the way across the room and won’t stop until he does. I hope he only ever uses it as a force for good.

The mental picture of this made me smile.

Hoping your new puppy finds you soon, at the earliest right moment. Then…pictures, lots of pictures!

I don’t know where everybody lives but I do know swampy is in Georgia and there’s an ugly storm supposed to be going up the east coast. I hope everyone has what they need and can be warm inside somewhere.

Yeah, it’s supposed to get down to, like, 9 F here tonight. Brrr!

CupCakes no worries about the storm here. I am way west of where that will be. doggio, however, could be in or at least real near all the excitement. I’m sure the folks in Savannah will be clutchin’ their pearls and makin’ French toast and tp runs if they haven’t already.

3 degrees where I am. You bundle up, girl! The wind off the water where you are is gonna be brutal.

I may not even leave my house tomorrow. Zip up the thick old robe and hunker down.

Stay warm and safe everybody. I have :crossed_fingers:t3: for everyone’s electricity and gas (& internet) to stay on, no matter what. I’m lighting a candle symbolically so none of has to light a real candle.

I forgot that we’re completely out of kitty litter (a.k.a. cat toilet paper) and braved the cold to go get some.

Putting it into my trunk, I found … the kitty litter I bought during the last grocery run & hadn’t gone back to fetch after bringing in the perishables. {{ facepalm }}

TLDR: the cats are enjoying a ton of fresh litter.

shoe I’m down to a rousing 8 right now. Stay safe and warm.

I heard some weather blather folks talking about -10 tomorrow night around here. My clever ploy of not shoveling the driveway and just bombing through in 4 wheel drive may have been foolish. I might now be left with big ol’ ice trails. Oh well, it’ll warm up in, checks calendar, 2 months.

Whew! That wind out of the west is me heaving a sigh of relief. The neurosurgeon walked in, said, “Your back is no good!” and showed me on the MRI why. His metaphor is that the nerves in the spine are like noodles, and the spinal fluid is like the broth. Below a certain point, I have zero broth. None. Arthritis has choked off the supply.

Luckily, the fix is simple: he’ll shave out the excess bone, and presto, as soon as I recover from the anesthesia, I’ll be able to stand and walk without pain! I don’t remember what that’s like, but I know it’ll be great. There’ll only be a 1" incision.

My sister told me this morning that our sister-in-law was all set to come help me after surgery. That is so nice of her, but Mumpers, much as I love her, she’s very pessimistic and anxious, not to mention a fuss-budget about cleanliness. Also, she has her own back issues, and traveling cross-continent wouldn’t help. I can get a friend to take me and pick me up, and that’s all I’ll need. Were I not retired, I’d be able to return to work in 1-2 days.

I feel so stupid for my silly “Suck it up!” approach these past 5 years. I could’ve been pain-free all this time. Live and learn. Surgery is Feb. 4th, and it can’t come soon enough.

WetOne, congrats on the upcoming retirement! You’re gonna love it!

Boo, yay on Sorenson’s negative test and more Magical Gramma Love!

Doggio, I understood about the trays, and it gave me a chuckle. Do you still have the gold lamé purses? When I was a kid, I thought gold lamé was the height of sophistication and couldn’t understand why Mom didn’t have any. I still think it’s kinda cool.

Waves at shoe

Thanks Boo I’m sure the old doggies are keeping each other company.

nellie Best wishes for the re-supply of broth to your spine. Prolly could use some in your front in the meantime. Soup heals many things.

Up from naptime. Having cavatappi and meatballs with the last of homemade sauce.

Most of it will hit west of me. HT was still blown out of milk, eggs, and…frozen pizza. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO KAREN, PICK OFF THE FRICKIN’ TOPPINGS AND MAKE ITALIAN FRENCH TOAST?

Sadly, no.

Yay for spinal broth, nellie!

I’ve deployed the electric blanket (which the cats have already taken over) and both humidifiers. I have a space heater if it gets really bad, but so far, the furnace has powered through.

That’s very good advice for many situations.

I finished reading before replying, I’m really happy that FCD was able to get an appointment so quickly. I had a tooth go hot 6-8 months ago and it was almost a month before I could be seen. That was also the time I learned I had developed an allergy to penicillin. Go me.

Is that a kind way to say that I talk about him too much? You are so right about the world being weird. Sadly, it seems to just keep getting weirder.

Much love back, have a wonderful day.

:fireworks: :sparkler: :mirror_ball:
Congrats, you are going to love it. Start going through your desk now, you are going to be amazed at all the random stuff you have. I haven’t achieved Swampys expertise at slothage but I’m practicing almost every day.

And that’s how you do proper slothage! How’s the leg doing?

Dang about the COVID, I hope you have an easy time of it. Drink lots of water and rest as much as you can.

Considering the weather you are going to be getting, maybe put a bag back in the car so you can use it if you get stuck in the snow because of course you are going to have to go to work no matter what. People need their tacos dontyaknow?

OMG!!! That would be amazing. I sure hope it goes well. Standing up without pain, wow, what a concept.

I have an appointment with a spine surgeon in a couple of weeks. I’ve got degenerative arthritis among other issues and once in a while I’ll wake up without pain and wonder if I’m dead. Then I move and I’m all owie again.

Today I was happy to learn that I don’t have to worry about having to deal with contact lenses, which makes me happy. I’ve never had much success with them. Last month my doctor saw my nose for the first time ever and said she didn’t like it much and referred me to a dermatologist due to worries of skin cancer. Mom has had a terrible time with skin cancer, and is constantly getting chunks cut out of her skin.

I had skin cancer cut out of me when I was in my early 30’s and didn’t want to do it again, so started acting like I was allergic to the sun. I still knew it was going to get me at one point or another, so when my doctor started fussing, I started worrying.

Well, my nose isn’t going to fall off or get cut off so I can still use it hold my glasses in the right spot. The dermatologist froze four places on my face and said she wanted to look at me again in a year.

A few years back, we had a fifty year snow fall (over 8 inches in 24 hours). I was looking at the snow out the living room window when I saw the young man across the street try to get his car out of his yard which due to various factors wasn’t working out well. He almost slid into his wife’s car and did take out his trash can. After almost half an hour of entertainment for us, he did manage to make it to the street and took off. I just happened to by back by the window when he came back in triumph. He had managed to get the last frozen pizza in the local market.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 40 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 48 and rain this afternoon and evenin’ again. I shall betake myself over to the church house to do church janitor JW stuff for the last time. WOOHOO! I shall do some other stuff as well whilst there. That will get done this mornin’ so’s I can be back in da cave before the rain. Sloth shall consume the rest of the day except for sup which shall be burgers 'n fixin’s and oven fries. That requires actual productivity.

{{{Sunny}}} may the plague be a mild case. Rest. Drink liquids. Feel better soonest.

Boo glad the tyke was negative and was able to get some quality grandma time,

Nellie yay for the spinal broth fix! This is indeed great news and deserves a mumper celebration! :clinking_glasses: :tada: :mirror_ball: :piñata:  :birthday:

Butters that was some world class sloth. I am so proud of you!

Everyone in the frozen ickiness, stay safe and warm.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother, I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the public attire. Why is life so difficult!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Compared to some of you, we’ve got a veritable heat wave - it’s 21°!! Not supposed to get out of the 20s today, so definitely an indoor day.

nellie - So glad your back fix is relatively simple. Wish it had been for my poor sweetie, but I’m guessing your back issues aren’t from trying to lift and move too-heavy stuff all your adult life. Hope it’s as quick and easy as your doc promises.

doggio - frozen pizza disappeared from stores here, too. Even the nasty no-name brands! And frozen spuds of all styles - that struck me as odd, but people get weird when the weather gets weird.

shoe - I need to fetch another load of cat litter soon. I like to keep a spare on hand, but I have no spare and only half an open box remaining. Guess I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow.

After I get the kidlet and after FCD is up, I’m going to do a load of unmentionables :flushed: as I’m nearly out of clean unders. So I’ve got that to look forward to.

Gutter guys are coming Mon or Tues or Weds - depending on which will have the best weather. They had to cancel on me 2 weeks ago and our gutters are overloaded. FCD worries about ice backing up and while I know that’s an issue, I don’t think ours are that bad. But it’ll get done. And FCD has therapy at 9 this morning, but other than that, I think he’ll sloth away.

And just because we can all use a giggle (well, it made me giggle) here’s my grandson practicing his smile!

Happy Firday!

OMG that child is cute!

Good morning everyone.

It’s 38 degrees and partly cloudy. The expected high is 48 and the weather will remain mostly to partly cloudy all day.

nellie, I’m glad the back pain is a relatively easy fix.

Congrats on your retirement, Wet One! I am so jealous but in a good way.

Love the pic, FCM!

Sunny, I hope the plague is mild and you’re over it quickly. Seems everyone is getting it now, even those who are doing their level best to prevent it. Knock on wood, neither the hubby or I have gotten it, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

I’m getting a haircut and maybe some toning done in a few hours. I can’t wait. I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last haircut.

Still no sleep for me; the husband came to bed and all he did was toss and turn and scratch. I gave up and got out of bed at 3:30. I gave Polar his pills, made coffee, emptied all the downstairs garbage cans, and took the garbage bin to the curb since the husband forgot to do it last night. After that, I spread some peanut butter on a dog biscuit for Polar, grabbed my coffee, and sat down for some sloth.

I was looking at hairstyles and found what I’m trying to get to, so have saved the pic and will print it out to take to my stylist. I have thick hair so I need styles that don’t make the sides of my head look like a poodle’s ears. I want versatility so I can just use a straightener or curl it. The one thing I have noticed is that although my hair grows quickly, it doesn’t grow as quickly as it once did. I’m going to have to start taking some vitamins. I buy them, forget I have them, and then they sit in the cupboard until I “find” them again, see they’re expired, and have to toss them. I have even tried putting the bottle down by my coffee maker, but I somehow just skip over that giant bottle of vitamins when I make the coffee. I think it just boils down to the fact that I don’t like taking pills in general. I’ll finish a prescription, but if it’s something that’s not an absolutely necessity, I just don’t do it.

That is probably way more information than any of you care about.

Time for the next cup of coffee!

EDIT: Adam has a buckle break and is in a cast. :frowning: The ortho guy said it would take about a month to heal. The break is somewhere along his calf. A buckle break is otherwise known as a stable or torous break. The bone only breaks on on side and guess these kinds of breaks are common in kids. On the other hand; geesh Adam is not quite 16 months yet. God help us when he can get on a bike or climb trees!
