Well, while I was not elected to the new management team, I was appointed, so YAY!
Wow. Very cool. Congratulations!
Brother just called, wondering whether he’d left his suitcase here. He did. In the driveway. :smack: :D:D:D:D:D:D
Off to knit for a bit and then sleep…
Hugs.
ETA: missed the tornado part somehow. No fun. Hope everyone near bad weather is safe.

Good morning folks - vision is doing some better this morning (I can at least read what’s on my screen w/o it being blurry), so I’m thankful for that. Thanks for the update on your kitty, LiLi - I think you’re right, he’s gone feral and while that’s a shame you wouldn’t be able to re-integrate him into the family. And just maybe your other cat has grown secure in her position as sole kitteh!
Hope everyone is doing okay. After today, just one more day until the weekend!!! Happy Thursday all!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 78 Amurrkin out and should be stormin’ but it ain’t. Not a drop of rain! It’s like we’re in some kind of “No Rain” zone down heah. Looks like it has stormed everywhere but here. GRRRRRRR… OYKW’s folks were in some of the severe weather but not where any of the tornadoes struck. I am glad for that.
Congrats Rosie! I assume congrats are in order since you went “yay”.
I get to sit in a three hour trainin’ meetin’ this afternoon. Envy me. Of course, the last “three hour trainin’ meetin’” I had to do lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. Dare I hope?
Ok, off to find more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then irk purtification shall commence.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
I am at irk. It is irksome.
The train was virtually empty this morning so there are plenty of people not bothering to come in today - but for some bizarre reason our office had to be fully staffed. The office manager must be having some kind of panic about end-of-session stuff because she’s got people in checking exam results and stuff…but so far the only thing she’s asked me for is some information on project results that I gave to a colleague last week. Impressed, I am not.
Four-day weekend for us though, I will not be watching any of the wedding madness as it’s already invaded every news bulletin for the past week and I’m sick of it already. My kitchen needs cleaning and the there’s weeding to do outside. That’ll keep me busy instead.
Happy Thursday, people!
Well, that was a bust. A tstorm warnin’ was issued. Strong winds! Lightning! Hail! Heavy rain! Plagues and Pestilence! Ok, no plagues and pestilence but when they do stuff like that on teevee it sounds like plagues and pestilence are expected. Anywho… it rained for two minutes really hard and is now a slow steady rain. This is likely to be gone in a few minutes.
I mean, I’m glad it was nuttin’ like other areas have experienced but we were supposed to get tstorms and lots of rain. I want my tstorms and rain dangit!
Oh and howdy from East Albeeeeeny Medical Center. I am here yet again. There are a grand total of two people in the waitin’ room. I was supposed to have three appointments but they all cancelled due to not wantin’ to get out in the weather which we have a severe lack of at the moment. Oh well, I get paid for it so I guess it’s all good.
Thus it goes in southwest Jawja today.
I’m at irk again. Why couldn’t I have been born independently wealthy?
Yesterday was fun, though. I was taken out to big group lunch to celebrate my 15th anniversary with the company, and given my chozen gift, a very nice Tourneau watch. Also, they announced my promotion. We went to Pappadeaux, and I ordered the Cajun Combo - blackened catfish and shrimp creole. They also ordered platters of appetizers with fried alligator, calimari, and a yummy shrimp and crawfish dip.
Hey.
I’m alive; survived Easter just fine, including the weekend with Auntie and Mom. Did not kill Mom, refused to do several things she wanted me to. She’s coming over on Saturday to watch a local production of Cabaret which she has somehow decided is “oh yes, that company that’s touring Navarra!” Uh… no? It’s the local High School, but whad-evah. No work calls, the electrician who was supposed to come give me a budget hasn’t, no news from the gas dude either, I’ve got the stuff I brought over all ordered and inventoried (I do have too many USB cables). Had a call from Middlebro today where 1) he raved over how often his dearest and her bro call relatives (but forgets that they only call certain relatives that often, and anyway I’m not planning on divorcing him, since we already married him off making siblingvorce unnecesary), 2) moaned about “what will happen if something breaks at Mom’s, because Littlebro says she’s running on fumes and” and that’s when I cut him off and said if something breaks at Mom’s, first of all she’s NOT to be allowed to be in charge, specially if it’s something which requires our financial assistance. That woman, you ask her for a bottle of Cocacola and she’d get the most expensive size in the supermarket which happened to not have an offer on it that week Will see him on Sunday and explain about such concepts as “home insurance”, which in Mom’s case covers even small repairs not linked to breakage. I love him and stuff but sometimes the best thing you can do with family is file them in a box, I swear…
I’ve got to come vote on the 22nd, meet with Uncle Revenue on the 24th and with the allergologist on the 25th.
Here. Not killing kids. Insane winds today. 100km/h wind gusts. Nuts.
Congrats on the irkiversary and the promotion Rebo!
Here I sit waitin’ for trainin’ to begin. Could it get more excitatin’!
Wow! We had another free lunch today, bought by a project manager. Free BBQ!
I’m glad to hear there have been no murders amongst the Mumpers.
…yet, rebo…yet.
Stupidity abounds here in the workplace and I’m having one of those days where I’m just up to ::HERE:: with it. I’ve bitten holes in my tongue in my effort to keep from saying what I really think of the some of the numbnuts around here.
Anyway, hugs, congrats, consolation, kisses to all here. I skimmed, but I’m also working on something. Ah, multi-tasking; gotta love it.
Home, waiting for daughter and/or stormification. I think Red Robin is makin’ supper because I don’t feel like cooking. I do have a load of unders in the washer as **FCD **informed me he was outta drawers - he had just enough to pack for his trip.
This morning, I asked the boss if he wanted me to take up the “chalk outline” but he said I could leave it a while longer. He likes it! I’m a hit! Then at 10 we had an info session about the impending RIF. The timeline has changed somewhat and it’s made my decision more difficult. They’ll be offering the incentive bonuses starting the end of May, and they will require departure by Aug 31. That’s 4 months before I wanted to go.
I think it’s doable, but I had counted on a full year of salary, not only for this year’s income, but to get the highest possible high-3 salary years. There’s a chance they’ll offer a second round of incentive pay, but it’ll be for a January departure, which will cost me some leave-sellback money. Tough call - I need to discuss it all with my sweetie and see what we should do. I hate hard decisions.
But I did request my Official Personnel File to review and I will do my resume. Just not sure what happens next.
I’s tahred again. Idiot cat woke me a bit before 4, and I never did get back to sleep to any degree. I see an early bedtime in my evening. * <yawn>*
Here and frustrated with spreadsheets and month end reports.
I agree with Taters…no murders yet…
I am so bored with no-one to play with. I miss mr ems
Anyway time for a late lunch. A Girl has gotta eat!
Howdy Y’all! Home from irk and supped. Grilled poke chops, peas and carrots, Rice-A-Roni [sup]TM[/sup] original flavor cause I like it best and rolls. NUM! We’s full.
OYKW and I are goin’ up to my homeplace on Sattidy. My family is gettin’ together for a Mother’s Day cookout a week earlier cause one of my bros won’t be able to be there on Mother’s Day weekend due to havin’ to go to a graduation for his wife’s niece. So he’s goin’ up with me. We’ll spend the night and come back on Sunday. Next week he’ll leave on Friday mornin’ to go see his mom. I am goin’ back to see my mom so I can take her the traditional orchid corsage and go to church with her on Mother’s Day cause she likes that. Afterwards we will go to this nummy buffet place for lunch cause that’s where mom wants to go eat. I’m the good one!
Sorry for all the work frustration Taters and mmmmmms.
MOOOOOOM if you do decide to take the early retirement deal, are you plannin’ on still workin’? I ask because I’m nosy and you said you’re gonna do your resume.
Ok, off to, ummm… surf around a bit.
Later Y’all!
Congrats, Rebo!
Sorry for those who are irked; good job on the not-murderin’!
My work seemed long today, but I didn’t get nearly as much done as I wanted to.
We have storms moving through here AGAIN. This is getting old.
Off to knit for a while…
Hugs.

**swampy **- the resume is required as part of the RIF process - if I decide not to request the retirement incentive, I have to have a resume in a specific format to determine what my new job will be. However, if I do decide to retire, I will work. I’m hoping maybe my husband’s company will be looking for a draftsman soon, since the one **FCD **hired is on the fast track to being a stress analyst. So we shall see. Anyway, I need a resume regardless.
Red Robin was a good choice for supper - I had enough meals accumulated to get one free tonight, so supper was under $15 for the two of us. I should have just tipped on that amount - the server sucked.
Off to knit and watch TV for a while. Then beddy bye.
MWAH!!
Lazy Husband took up super-amazing cooking a couple of years ago. He threw a poutine party tonight, and Mr. Lissar and I went. He’d gotten ten pounds of potatoes, an eight-pound bag of cheese curds, and was making gravy from shallots, smoked turkey stock, and wild mushrooms when we arrived.
And there was duck he’d smoked.
(Sound of burping)
CatWife responded to an invite to the Kid’s BFF’s bachelorette party today.
The party will consist of a pole dancing lesson, dinner, a “panty-guessing game” and then a night on the town.
Not my little girl!
I’m in St Louis. I’m not having a bad time, exactly, but I’m ready to go home, and it only officially started 45 minutes ago. Two and a half days to go! Too much build up, I guess. It couldn’t possibly live up to my expectations after 5 months of anticipation and years of hearing how awesome this event is. Also, the Sheraton’s beds are awful. Maybe that’s part of what’s making me grouchy.
On the bright side, my allergies cleared up this morning, although I’m wheezing a bit from the cigarette smoke (they allow smokers to be seen in public here! Horrors!) just because I’m not used to it anymore.
Also, wow, do they waste water here! I swear the toilets use about 20 gallons a flush.
