Daaaaang! I am so glad it’s Friday! It’s been a hell of a week!
Glad you and the wifey survived the tornadoes and lack of royal wedding coverage, **Bobbio. ** I had no interest in any of that. Don’t get it; don’t care. I actually feel sorry for the new princess because everything does will come under a microscope.
BTW, did those women actually *try *to find the ugliest hats possible? At least that was entertaining. They were all candidates for poorlydressed.com
Rosie I was outside a little while ago and was serenaded to a rousin’ rendition of “Turkey In The Straw” played really fast. I think there should be an adult version that sells margaritas and daquiris and such. Adults deserve frozen treats too!
The sickie is all tucked in bed. Chicken broth, saltine crackers and ginger ale did not make him heave. I take that as a good sign.
Congrats on the miracle, Bob, and the response. That’s really funny.
I did actually go and check the dress sometime this afternoon, because I like pretty dresses. It was okay. Not great.
I hope OYKW feels better tomorrow, swampy. Stomach bugs are dreadful.
Okay, I survived, and both the kids are in bed. If we have a miracle Gnat won’t wake in the night and assure us that he can’t sleep, he needs me, and his room is a bad place. I am so grateful that TomKitten is mostly sleeping very well right now.
I need to go lie down soon. Got five interrupted hours last night because of Gnat’s hijinks. Mr. Lissar slept in his room and must be dead tired- he’s out teaching tonight. For money! Yay!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 82. Up at ye olde home town it’s 47 out with a predicted high of 78. Ye olde hometowne is above what we Jawjans call the gnat line and tends to be a few degrees cooler. Actually, ye olde hometowne tends to get ice and snow and other Winter ick durin’ Winter that da bear does not get down heah in the swamps.
OYKW says he feels a bunch better and wants to go with me. Only he can decide that I guess. As long as I can invoke the no pukin’ in the vehicle rule I reckon it’d be ok.
Actually he just ate some cereal and pronounced it good, so maybe he is over whatever that was. Yay for him.
Ok, I need some more caffiene and some brekkie for my rumbly tummy. Then purtification must commence.
Rosie I voted. Do I get a little sticker like I do when I go vote at my precinct?
OK, I may look like a zombie, but I am, in fact, still more or less alive. I hardly slept at all last night between an unpleasant gastrointestinal reaction to the beenie-weenie, the noise of the fans under the bedroom that vent the kiln, and some rather upsetting news that daughter is moving into an apartment with yet another in a series of losers - no education, menial job, no ambition, no driver’s license… How could such an intelligent young woman make the same mistake again? Oh well. She’s an adult, she knows how we feel, and she’s on her own with this one. <headdesk>
In happier news, the glaze firing is done and the kiln is cooling down. The cycle took just under 12 hours and the temp was down to 1300~ish when I went down to check. I opened the windows in the studio since it’s low 50s outside, but I don’t expect to be able to empty the kiln till tomorrow.
No idea what today holds - some laundry for sure, and maybe some seed-planting. Nothing requiring much dexterity or mental acuity - I ain’t up for that. Perhaps even a nap somewhere along the line. And Scruffy really needs a bath, but fortunately she’s a little dog so that’s a fairly easy operation. Maybe some vacuuming too. How can I contain my excitement?
'Tis Domestic Day at the VunderLair. We start with brekkies and a trip to the dump, followed by groceries, getting at least one vehicle inspected so I can do Merrylande plates (the other has an appointment with the windshield doc Monday), and renting a rototiller so I can plant a garden today or tomorrow.
No rest for the wicked.
Moooooom, maybe Loser #2 is rich and hides it well.
Yeah, handing out basketballs at the base gym is a great way of hiding wealth… :dubious:
What really irritates me is what this is doing to FCD. He just went to work after being out of town for 3 days because he doesn’t want to see his daughter. It’s not easy to just stand by and watch someone you love make the same stupid mistakes over an over.
Sorry - didn’t want to bring the thread down. I just need to bitch about it and try to get it out of my system.
Hey, no worries about bring the thread down, **FCM. ** We all air our disappointments or frustrations and the rest give us support or commiseration. It’s what we do!
I would be frustrated if I were in your shoes too. One bright spot is there wouldn’t be any Cosmo to clean up after, right?
We’ll rpobably spend the day tidying around the house and yard. I think that’s the extent of our plans, anyway.
You have my sincerest condolances, Mooooom. at least she isn’t preggers, like all of my wife’s nieces did before they moved in with their respective losers.
On a more positive note, #1GrandSon is graduating from college today with a degree in engineering. He already has a job lined up with the Navy at Bremerton, Wash. (nuclear engineering). He and his fiancee will get married this summer before they move up there. Yay him!
Sorry about the frustrations, mooooom - it’s tough to see someone making the same mistakes again when you know it’s not going to end well.
I have been into town and done errands, I even bought two skirts for work while I was out. Skirts! Me! Honestly, wonders will never cease. It’s ‘im indoors’ birthday in a couple of weeks so I have to find something for him which is never easy. Luckily he revealed last night that he’s got a wishlist thing at Amazon so I will have to get him to let me have it and get some stuff off there.
In other news, we have a friend visiting tonight which means we’re going out for curry at our favourite restaurant. Woot!
Ah man fcm sorry to hear that and mostly sorry on what it is doing to her relationship with fcd. Vent away!
Not much planned today…solar lights on the path need changing with the new ones, dry cleaning picked up and Goodwill stuff dropped off then I need to pack for Tulsa. Rah!
Oh and change the cat box and run the vacuum round the house. Man I have such a full and rewarding day planned.
Well, we talked with daughter. Dunno if anything was resolved, but I think we cleared the air a little. At least **FCD **has mellowed a wee bit - he was really pissed earlier. Frankly, until this newest bf either proves that he’s an adult with a goal in life or disappears from her life, things will continue to be tense.
She’s gone now - heading to my mom’s. We need to do something for supper - preferably real food.
My parents are testing for their black belts in taijitsu today. There’s a little ceremony tonight - the big thing is next Friday. I’m going tonight in kimono. I already picked out which one, but I’m being lazy and wearing a pre-tied obi.
Doing laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, going to vacuum in a bit.
