Where the heck’s the new MMP??

Wake up stuffy and feelings of suffocation and dread ensue… check.

Wake up to permeating thoughts of work, turmoil, annoyances… check.

Get a good, restful night’s sleep… yeah, back when I was seven.

Mornin’ all.

Morning,

Glad to hear that all mumpers are feeling betterish this am. No snow here but lots of rain. It did sleet for a while yesterday. Work is apparently having massive computer issues and nothing works except the interwebs. I guess I shall have to just surf the Dope. Oh woe is me. I dont think I will ever be up early enough to start an MMP (of course now I just jinxed myself, get it, jinxed…um ha ha and all)

What keeps me awake at night? It’s usually a white cat who knows when I’m awake and demands fuss and attention, normally by walking over me and shoving her cold wet nose in my face.

Today I am still not working, I have spoken to my agency about the HR issue and have also had a very entertaining conversation with my union rep whose first words were that my workplace is “bollocking around” as usual.

So I am also at home today, I have nothing much to do apart from applying for a job, phoning the cattery to book the mogs in for a stay in May while I visit friends in Hungary, and I am defrosting the freezer.

See? Living on the edge!

f’ing SNOW!

It was windy and cold yesterday so rather than work outside I made the mistake of surfing the tube and came across the show Wild West Alaska. I must have watched a half dozen episodes and then Duck Dynasty came on and I decided to see what that was all about. Ha, hilarious, although after that many hours of camo I probably shouldn’t be allowed to go shopping anytime soon.

Spring break!

No school, no drivers, just me and The Cute Secretary all week long, trying to find important things to do.

Interracial marriage wasn’t just rare in the US. It was illegal in seventeen states until 1967. Fifteen other states had outlawed it as well, but they repealed their laws before the Supreme Court decision in 1967. So, no, the US wasn’t exactly Nazi Germany, but some people in it sure didn’t mind taking a page from that book.

As for Monday, I am extremely blurf. I stayed up way too late last night and really, really didn’t want to get up this morning. The bed was all warm and comfy, and there were kitties curled up against me. On top of that, I chose today to quit mochas and start drinking tea in the morning. It’s going to take me a while to adjust.

I’m telling CatWife!

Crisis averted. Apocalypse on hold for now. I went back to da cave and got my cellphone. Y’all may now stand down.

Mawnin all

See we have a bunch of Mumpers playing hookey from irk today, good for you

Laws against marriages between those that want to, well we shall see if the Supreme Court is on the right side of history. Lets see if the Supremes can read the equal protection clause because it seems pretty obvious to me.

Need more coffee will be back

Jim

+1 to the ‘it’s too damn cold’ complaints. This time last year, it was hot enough to go skipping through the meadows in a tshirt, and today I’m shivering in a big wooly jumper… I want to start planting things, and I can’t.

It doesn’t help that I’ve had to quit coffee for the week- it’s a regular cycle; the coffee gets stronger and stronger, until I suddenly realise I’m not sleeping and there’s not enough blood in my caffeine system, so I quit for a while… Until it all starts up again.

This probably answers the ‘what keeps me up at night’ question too.

I really should go do my washing today, but it means carrying everything down to the laundrette, and it’s cold, and I really don’t want to.

Sir, your ideas intrigue me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Bowl of oatmeal, cup of coffee. I can’t eat too much in the morning but I have to eat something or I’ll kill everyone in an hour. In my work I have to hold off on the killings until at least 11 am.

I am planning a shopping expedition today. Truly the end of the world is nigh. Somebody remind me to get a wrench. I need to disconnect the negative terminal on my car battery to reset the check engine light. I gots me an O2 sensor that needs replacin’.

please be just the o2 and not the catalytic converter please car gods hear my prayers i have rent due soon

Can anyone here answer what I think is a basic question about IRAs? Part of last year, I worked, and as a temp, I wasn’t eligible to contribute to the 401k, so I believe I can open an IRA for the max ($6K), right?

And since **FCD **was contributing to the 401k, he can’t contribute to a traditional IRA, also correct?

We file a joint return - does his income have any bearing on my right to have an IRA? I have tried to understand the legalese my credit union provided and I’ve tried looking at a couple of websites, but I just get more and more confused. Does anyone know?

Most mornings, I’ll make a couple of eggs, maybe some toast, or oatmeal with an over-easy egg mixed into it and a cup of coffee. I have a long-ish commute in the morning, so I need something that will keep me full from 6am to at least 11:30, if not as late as 1 or 2pm. I keep snacks in my desk drawer at work because this doesn’t always work out. :smack:

On the weekends, I’m more leisurely with food, and my late shift once per week means that I have coffee whenever I wake up, and “brunch” around 10:45am so I can get ready and get going to work. (I get “dinner” at 3pm, and usually bring a snack so I don’t have to hop out at 7pm or feel like I’m gonna eat the planet when I get done with work at 9pm.)

Breakfast? Questions about breakfast should definitely be answered right after lunch! My weekday breakfast is a bacon sandwich (made with my yummy homemade bread), or a bowl of either oatmeal or cereal. I rarely have time for anything else, and at the weekend I usually get up later so skip breakfast altogether.

Now that I appear to be a lady of leisure, I can have whatever I want because I’ve got the time to make it so perhaps tomorrow will be the delights of scrambled eggs on toast.

In other news, I have just applied for a job I don’t really want, and have spent some time bashing the ice in the defrosting freezer to dislodge it. Therapeutic, indeed.

Blurf.

I shoot local news in Washington DC. As Imentioned in the Have you ever revealed your real life identity here in your posts? thread I have no expectations of keeping my identity private on the internet, and I suspect many are foolish who think they can behave with utter abandon without the possibility of the discovery of their identity.

The reality is I wasn’t alive 50 years ago, but I do know that the public perception of acceptance certainly did not exist. I remember in my lifetime the arrival of “firsts” in the public eye as minorities first entered the arena of the public eye through tv shows and whatnot, rapidly progressing to the point that concepts that were utterly taboo not that long ago are considered normal now. Of course there was conversation - and more - but it was underground and not as accepted today. And that is the thrust of my point, that things are better, in as few words as possible.

Now sir I blame you for making me wordy.

Back to the point of my original post. I have enjoyed the requirement of my occupation to go to many places and ask questions of strangers. Though it is obvious there is evil in the world, and many whose only goal in life is self appeasement, there are the innumerable quiet masses who wish to live a good life, be there for friends and family, and leave the world a little better for their living.

I have seen it and I am convinced that general swelling of goodness in humanity is edging us towards a better future. It is not coordinated, and for that I am glad that is so. We do not know what the best future shall be: slipping forward in a multitude of directions lets us explore all the best ways to become a better whole.

The only folks who bring my bright visions a cloud are the people who insist on forcing their vision upon everyone else. I have a natural distain for politicians, evangelists (in the thought that they are ordained to ‘save’ others), and people from all political and moral leanings who feel obligated to impose on the masses their visions of betterment.

If there is an area that brings forth my greatest concern in my society, in other societies, and between societies is this concept of imposition of ideals. I am not happy to see my society try to impose itself upon other societies, but I recognize that there are societies that would love to change or destroy my society and it’s reasonable for my society to defend itself. Where the line is and if / when that line has been overstepped is not the desire of this notation, but I speak of it in the hopes that the future of mankind must revolve around the concept that each society must acknowledge and accept every society, without exception.

Or to sum it all up, as our old friend Winston Churchill once said: “Jaw jaw is better than war war.” I find the cacophony of opposing viewpoints delicious, not for the noise that it is but for the idea it represents. There are many who are angered by the tone of political speech in America and the world today; I appreciate that ideas are discussed, argued, mangled and countered in the public forum for all to see.

The fact that we can, and do, debate our collective future is the sign that we’re on the right track.

My belief is Yes, I think he can, & correct. Of course, I ain’t the IRS, which means this isn’t legal or accounting advice.

The job you don’t want is locked in ice in the freezer & you’ve dislodged it, what?

I’m about to pull the last load of laundry out of the dryer and commence to foldin’!

I’ve got poke in the oven that’s gonna be pulled and sauced for supper. I need to load the dishwasher, and I’ve got 4 pots in my studio that I can trim and set out to dry. By then, FCD should be home.

The snow turned to drizzle, then stopped, then started up again with big, fat flakes, and now it’s tapering off. Much of what was on the ground has melted, altho piles of leaves seem to be insulating a few spots. It’s still barely above freezing and if I see a groundhog, I’ll kick it into *next *spring!!!

Stoopit lingering winter.

MOOOOOOM what Spidey said. At least that’s my understandin’ from a CPA concerin’ 401ks and IRAs. Then again I ain’t the IRS either.

N.O.L. is eaten. Canteloupe. Ain’t got a ladder. Just never gets old does it?
