Where the heck’s the new MMP??

That had me confused as well.
Perhaps we should all check our freezers for frozen jobs that need dislodging, maybe we can bring the unemployment rate down.

I did get my container garden started yesterday.

  • two tomato plants (one cherry tomatoes, the other regular sized)
  • a strawberry planter filled with strawberry starters
  • a 4" rosemary sprawler
  • spearmint
  • lemon balm (that was almost lemon blam, which someone should come up with)
  • 2 small containers of lavender
  • planted seeds for poppies and catnip

It’s been way too chilly, and my porch faces west. I really don’t know how they’ll do. I don’t want to have to move pots indoors, because the cats will destroy them. There’s a bare spot outside of one of my southern facing windows, but I don’t know how anal the property manager is about that sort of thing. It’s not like they replant dead hedges, so who knows.

Spidey, swampy - thanks! I thought that was the case, but nothing that I tried to read said so much in plain English. I’m going to mail off the paperwork to set up my IRA at my Credit Union in FL - they’re paying almost 1.5% for a 5-year account. The credit union here in Merrylande pays less than half that for the same term. Money stuff can be so confusing!

Laundry is all done and folded. I’m about to chop up and sauté an onion then add the pulled poke and some BBQ sauce and put it on to simmer super low and slow. It’s smelling good already!

Higgs has been out a couple of times. I love that she’s pretty much fenced in so I can just let her go out without having to watch her. She can run around till she’s tired and I can keep doing what I’m doing. She just needs to learn to bark when she wants to come in.

Yesterday, she and Cozmo ran themselves into exhaustion!

No more snow - now it’s all rain. Still ick. Still cold. Still noy spring-y. :frowning:

Happy Moonday.

It’s two degrees above freezing and still snowing.

Today’s the first day of spring break for the kid, I thought we could go driving but I know he’s not ready to drive in snow.

What keeps me up is the damn dog. He wakes me every night at least once to go out. I know he’s getting older so it’s just the way it is.

My favorite breakfast is cup of noodles. Yep, that dried up stuff to which you add boiling water and let it sit. Since I’m out of that, and don’t have any bagels or cream cheese either, breakfast is whatever is quick and handy.
A snickers and a coke works pretty well too.

I had posted my experience with race relations but as is with many of my posts, it went poof.
Being that I am white and the SO is black, I can tell you there are still quite a few disapproving people out there.
His aunt for one and my mothers other daughter for two. It happens in public sometimes.

Swampy I’m glad you got your phone. It’s funny how I went years without a cell phone and now I feel naked with out it.

**FCM **I don’t know a damn thing about IRSs. I should but I don’t.

I hate SNOW.

I think FCD can too, although he might not be able to claim the tax exemption. I think he can contribute regardless though. Our CPA has already come, otherwise I’d ask him.

**lieu **- yeah, near as I understand, anyone can get a Roth, which doesn’t give a tax exemption today, but you don’t pay taxes on it when you cash it in. We need the tax exemption for last year’s taxes - we kinda got reamed with me going back to work. Even with opening a maxed-out IRA, we’ve still got to pay several thousands. My own fault for forgetting that before I retired, I always had extra held out every payday. :smack:

Dishes are washing, poke is pulled and simmering in sauce with onions, it’s drizzly, and I just can’t make myself go work in my studio. Maybe when **FCD **comes home, he can play with the pup and I can have an hour or so downstairs.

Mooommmm, I think I can help you out there. Send me some of your income, so you’ll have less of it, so you’ll owe less taxes. There, problem solved for you.

Oh, & for helping you out, I think you should pay me, also. :stuck_out_tongue:

Grrr. Just got back from the great shopping expedition. I wanted to get clothes, but everything at the Walmart was on clearance which meant all the clothes were either for super-skinny or super-fat people. I did pick up a few household items and I have 1/4 of the original amount on my gift card left.

Also hit up the used bookstore and yarn store. I swear before all the deities there are that the next project I take up after the teal blanket will be cross-stitch because I already have everything for that and do not need to buy anything.

I got home at the same time as the mail, so I got a new Mental Floss and MY GIRL SCOUT COOKIES CAME!   (I got Lemonades this year.) There was also a book included with my GSC. Yay! My sister and niece rock!

Plans for the afternoon include putting together the bookshelf I bought, repotting my spider plant and rearranging my bookshelves for the 498th time. I’ve been extremely productive this weekend. What’s wrong with me?

I see, FCM. Actually, come to think of it we have a new financial planner coming out to talk Wednesday. If you want to PM me brief specifics I’d be happy to throw that question in too.

I had Firday off and took today off. A 4 day irk week, a 4 day weekend, and 4 day irk week. My irk life should always be like this, except I want to get paid for irking 5 days.

I bought new underwear for my trip to London. Nothing could be more MMP than that.

QUOTE]

I has a jealous! No indoor container gardening for me. Teh kittehs would thank me for providing them with an indoor salad bar though. I shall have to wait until warmer weather to begin my herb garden. Wanted to build raised beds for in ground planting this year but alas, the taxes gods have no mercy, and we owe money yet again.

ETA 1st on 2. I never thought it would happen to me! This is such an honor. I would like to thank **Phouka **for inspiring me to post and um, who ever was last on page 1, so that I could be first. I will remember this for the rest of…oooh look a squirel!

I think the snow has turned to rain.

I need to do something besides play in the internet.

why?

It’s stopped raining here. **FCD **is home. I’m going to be home again tomorrow - there’s just no work. Anybody need a super-fast draftsman? I can be bought!

Good question.

I just feel lazy and have been feeling lazy.

All y’all sound so busy and industrious and I’m just sitting on my butt searching the net and watching Murder She Wrote and McCloud.

I need to finish my taxes but my brain isn’t working that way today.
I need to go grocery shopping but who wants to shop in tie ick, and then have to carry all the bags in while it’s raining. Not that I have to carry them in. The kid carries all the bags in, unloads them and puts everything away.
The dog needs a good brushing but I’d rather do that outside.
I have put the last little bit of laundry away, washed my dishes, fed and watered the dog, cleaned the toilet. So that’s about 20 minutes worth of work.

I’m not even going to start gardening until the middle of April. We had more snow this morning, the kind that just blows around and is annoying.

Bookshelf is put up. My carpentry skillz are subpar, but at least it’ll stay up against the wall. Major rearranging commenced and is mostly finished. Now I have to clean up the bedroom and I am done. My back has sent me some very pointed signals that I am not allowed to do anything else today that involves lifting and moving around.

The pulled poke was yum! And there’s enough left over to be frozen for a future meal, so yay!

So, will I be motivated enough tomorrow to clean the bathrooms?? Tune in tomorrow to find out.

Evening, all.
Just got back from a nice doggie walk out back. I needs the exercise, so says my doc (though I really enjoy my dog walks, and in fact, any walks outside). If doc would just keep his jack-booted thug assistants from forcing me onto that wretched scale whenever I go in for routine visits, the ‘problem’ would be solved!

:smack: D’oh! After all my lurking time, I probably should know that…

See, that’s what I love about this place. Y’all are so well adjusted, like swampy! No worries but peein’.

memo to self: be more like bear…

We’ve got a pot roast that’s been simmering away on the stove top most of the day. It smells really good! Dinner isn’t for a while yet, though. I think we’re having cornbread muffins with the pot roast - that’s up to my daughter.

My usual breakfast is: a mug of coffee, fruit and yogurt, and a piece of toast or half of a toasted bagel. My favorite breakfast: eggs benedict, but I rarely have that. I’d love to try the crab version of it, though!! It’s something that I don’t like to fix, so something I’ve usually only eaten when breakfasting “out.” My favorite home breakfast is waffles, which I will make on the weekend. I like pancakes and french toast, but to be honest, waffles are my favorite.

Right now, the only thing that really keeps me up at night is if I have a cold and can’t breath right. The dryness here in New Mexico has really taken time for my sinuses to get used to, btw! LOL Also, being in NM seems to have really helped with my daughter’s eczema, believe it or not. It’s cleared up my patches, mostly, as well. What works for us is petroleum jelly. Yep, good old vasoline. I also use Walmart brand cocoa butter lotion/cream; it has a nice aroma but honestly it’s vasoline that is all you really need for dry skin. LOL Okay, I’ll admit it - eczema is one of those things where what works for one person might not necessarily work for someone else. Yes, we found that out through trial and error.

Hope everyone is having a good day, or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

Beef veggie soup and grilled cheese sammiches made for a nice dindin on a coolish and very windy day. YUM! Jambalaya is up for tomorrow’s dindin. I’ve even done prep work for it already. Go Me!

Oh and I finished ahrnin’. Productivity thy name is bear.
