Who are you & what time is it in the MMP?

Afternoon. Irk irked. Everyone seemed to be in a grumpy mood, and everything was messy. Feeling quite glad I don’t have to go back til Friday. Though extra money would be nice, catching up with stuff like the allotment and bees sounds better.

Mrs. Plant (v.1.0) married me so that she could move away and get out of helping her Mother can tomatoes. They canned hundreds of them, and ate them during the Winter.

Yesterday after work, I went out and did violence to blackberry bushes, holly, and other weeds. I feel like Sisyphus.

Got tired of the yellow jackets drinking out of the hummingbird feeder, so yesterday evening I hung a yellow jacket trap near it. They’re mostly ignoring the hummingbird feeder, and the trap has had several customers.

I think I’m on my 6th cuppa joe. It’ll be gone in a minute, and then I can get another one. Grated the potatoes and made hashbrowns, bacon, and eggs for me and The Missus.

Part One of my stupid “How to build a new mainframe” class is done. Part Two is next month. Ugh… No idea why they’re dragging all of us through these classes as the past week has been applicable only to our mainframe engineering group. I will never have access or authority to do anything covered in the class. :frowning:

It’s like making everyone take a long class on how to build automatic transmissions and engine blocks when you just need to know how to drive.

So bored. When I am at home I would rather be at irk. When at irk I’d rather be at home. Bizarre.

‘When I was here I wanted to be there. When I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle.’ – Capt. Benjamin L. Willard, Apocalypse Now

I worked up quite a sweat taking the clothes off the lines and folding or hanging them on hangers. That counts as an aerobic workout, right?

Supper will be grab whatever. Ribs are still cooking - in about an hour anna half, I’ll dump sauce on them and they’ll cook one more hour.

It’s hot here. How much longer till autumn??

Several months ago, I noticed that a ‘base block’ on the Yakima rack on the Jeep had gone missing. I got a set of new ones, and some new end caps; plus a wrench, which is unavailable, but Yakima had one in the headquarters and sent it to me free. Today I replaced the base block and the end cap.

That vintage SAE socket set is going into the MGB. I have an OD canvass tool bag. It’s in the wash. I’ll put the socket set in it; plus the crowbar and anything else that will fit. I’ll get a quart of 10w-40 to put in, and I’ll order an oil filter (the car has a canister type) and a pair of extra wiper blades. That should tidy things up in the very cramped MG boot.

Speaking of the MGB, we’re going to take a cruise along the beach in it in a little while.

And Jello; we’ll even throw in some Jello!

I never remember if the one my cousin has most of is a B or Midget (I am 90% sure B) and I should since I helped research and find the Datsun tranny we’re going to put in it but ------- I’ve always been amazed at how small the trunks are. And this from someone who had a TR4A for a while as well as a Sprite. What? People in England never buy anything?

Cloudy and humid but at least it’s not hot. The thunderstormpoclypse is predicted for tonight and tomorrow. Other than that, I got nothing.

We went for the beach drive in the MG, then we went into Blaine. We each had a local lager. I wanted some grilled oysters, but Mrs. L.A. didn’t. Then she’s like, ‘You want some oysters? You can get some.’ So I got a half-dozen. She still didn’t want any, so I had to eat them all. Barlean’s Fishery has a shop attached to the oyster bar, and she wanted a crab. I bought one, plus about ⅔ pound of smoked salmon. We stopped on the way home for some home-grown corn on the cob. Once Mrs. L.A. has the corn ready, I’ll kill and clean the crab and boil it.

Afternoon all. Soccer went well, if you overlook the 93F temperatures in the afternoon. Directed kids to fields, helped pass out uniforms, and attended the referee’s meeting.

Oh, and I also agreed to coach a third team (10U boys) so I’ll have six practices a week (will double up on Thorsday) and three games to coach on Saturday. Good thing there is a Sunday because I will need the rest.

Cookie, glad the cat is over the feline blues.

flyboy, so the wife was a bit crabby but you knew when to clam up?

All y’all take care now.

CookieI think I last canned nearly a quarter of a century ago. I grew up cold packing and switched to pressure canning when living a dippy hippie lifestyle. While I miss the flavor of home canned fruits and vegetation, I don’t miss the work. Good on you for your DIY spirit.

I bought my new phone, stopped at the dealership to get it synced with the car and found out pretty much why the old phone wouldn’t work. It seems that I have a faulty USB. So now, I have an appointment to get it fixed next Saturday. It’s still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, so no charge, just the hassle.

I grocery shopped, came home, made the stripped bed, took Nelson for a walk, then took off for Goodwill in search of a small, square endtable for the studio. I found a nice Queen Anne style one for $15, as well as a cool pad of cardstock, some CDs and a new billfold long enough for the new phone (my old phone case was magnetic and went into a special part of my billfold). Spent a grand total of $23. Last of the bigtime spenders, I am. :stuck_out_tongue:

You need a license for that kind of stuff.

He has one.

Obligatory semi-drunk post. Day One of the show went much better than expected and I think the things left on-site weathered the storm well; the AM will say for sure. So I celebrated with some 131-proof rye. Not a lot but at 131 who needs a lot?

If no-one else I know Doggio will be proud of me.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 87 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted to begin this mornin’ and last into the evenin’. We shall see. The big plan of the day is deheathenization. After deheathenization I shall attend a trainin’ on becomin’ a Eucharistic Minister so OYKW shall be on his own for N.O.L., poor thing. Been kinda interested in this for a while. Outside of all that chillage shall ensue.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I crashed early last night, woke briefly a couple of times, but mostly slept thru till 5:30. I got up because I thought I heard Roxy, but I didn’t so I’ve got a little me-time. We’re going to leave for Mom’s around 9:30-ish. Before then, I need to clean all the corn and load it, some watermelon, the ribs, and my steamer pot into the car. The knitting stuff is already there. Gotta remember my bathing suit, too, just in case.

It’s hit me how really old my inlaws are - he’s 89, she’s 88. He’s got Parkinson’s and a pacemaker, she’s nearly blind and has a pacemaker. Honestly, I’d be surprised if either of them survive till the end of the year. What’s really sad for them is how little they’re able to do for themselves - very sad for a couple who literally built several of their houses. Heck, the first house, they actually dug their own basement - by hand! But now, everything is a struggle. I wish they’d move closer to us, but they’ll never leave FL. Sometimes aging sucketh mightily.

And on that cheerful note, Happy Sunday!

ETA: I’m starting a pool on how long till **swampy **decides to become a priest…

The stormpocalypse has started. Severe weather warning til 7:45. Breakfast will be bacon and waffles. Frozen waffles, don’t judge.

Mooooom, enjoy your trip. I know what you mean about watching folks grow old. My dad isn’t quite in the shape your inlaws are, but he’s able to do less and less these days.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, the first load of clothes in the wash. I need to haul out the printer today, bring in the endtable, fire up the old computer and copy some files for download on the new rig. Other than that, it will be a slow, lazy day.

FCM, treasure them all while they’re here; To see my parents I have to visit a cemetery and that’s not a happy visit (sorry for the melancholy). Have a good time today!

Stay dry wet one; no rain in the forecast here, so after mowage this morning I’ll have to run up my water bill some more.

ruble, semi-drunk? You’re not trying hard enough…

Need to get a new battery for the Old Dell computer, keep getting a ‘low battery’ message each time I boot up. 2020 is the planned year for a new computer, so need to keep this one running.

Well, delayed as long as I can. Must get presentable and get the yard mowed before the 96F heat settles in.
