I just had a vision of the final three sitting with his entourage tonight. While Trump’s mic is cut off so Biden can speak, they start yelling “you’re a threat to democracy!”, "Bidenomics sucks!', “open border!” etc. The most disruptive will get the nod.
The alleged short list includes, in no particular order:
JD Vance
Marco Rubio
Doug Burgum, and
Tim Scott
Of course there could be others not teased.
I’ll discount Rubio for state residency reasons.
Trump already has the MAGA vote locked up and doesn’t benefit from a divisive Vance.
Scott may be too much a sycophant even for Trump but he may think a Black man of whatever position will further soften Biden’s Bkack support.
But I’ll go with Burgum. And as late as possible to keep all the attention on him for as long as possible.

If yes, I should stick with my idea from the earlier thread, Elise Stefanik.
However, her being dropped from media front runner lists has me doubting myself.

True, but he now believes he can win without legal gymnastics. He thinks he is a real candidate and he needs a real running mate.
That’s still not what he’s looking for. You want a VP candidate to balance the ticket. Trump already has charisma, of his peculiar sort, and excitement. Both his massive ego and conventional political wisdom would call for him to pick someone reliably boring.

But I steadfastly maintain that Trump isn’t going to pick someone that takes some limelight off him and will do the same as he did in 2016, choose someone conservative but boring. The pick will be a surprise as nobody has been talking about him for a long time. This brilliant pick will be Mike Pompeo.
He brings a wealth of experience. He’s remained loyal to Trump and probably scored points with him by not running for POTUS in 2024.
Trump will be a lame duck the moment he resumes office. He has his legacy to think about and I can see Pompeo easily coat tailing his way into the White House in 2028.
