Having a VP that who wants to shove our country to the far right and has the skill to do is not reassuring.
Fun fact: this is the first time since 2012 that both presidential candidates have a JD.
We’ve often mused aloud about “another Trump, but smarter and far more competent.” Some speculated that DeSantis could fit that bill.
They were wrong.
To me, Vance IS that character. He’s at least as evil as Trump, but far smarter and likely far more competent.
Og help us.
This was exactly my reaction.
He is one evil dude. And he projects Youth and Energy.
Worst possible timeline.
What new voters will he bring to the Republican Party, though? He is popular with the MAGgots, but they are already voting for Trump.
Maybe he thinks that all of the non-MAGA types are as “loyal” as Mike Pence when push comes to shove.
It’s probably just my paranoia acting up again, but why do I think that the real reason Vance was chosen was, Trump thinks he can be useful on January 6, 2029, especially now that the “the Vice-President’s role in the count is strictly ceremonial” law can be ignored if Trump says it’s his “official duty to make sure the ‘correct’ count is made”?
Theory #2: Trump suddenly realized after the shooting that maybe he is mortal after all, and he may need a clone if it comes time to have an Acting President while he needs some sort of medical care.
J.D. Vance? Please. There’s plenty of negative crap for the Biden/Harris campaign to use against them with this guy. And as Czarcasm points out, what voters does he bring into the fold?
Telegenic maybe but I’ve seen him flounder and get flustered when called out on his lies in interviews.
I do agree he’s pure evil. He’s likely to be the GOP frontrunner in 2028 no matter how this election turns out.
Cut back on non-friendly interviews, increase press releases, problem solved.
Yeah but if there is a VP debate I think there’s a good chance Harris will eat his lunch.
Yeah, that’ll happen…about the same time Trump goes to prison.
But do you think there was a potential Trump running mate for whom that wouldn’t have been the case?
Vance is smrt. 99% of Americans couldn’t use the word “elegy” in a sentence, and he done put it in the title of his book!
I did say “if”. Not holding my breath though.
Vance is the choice, I here. Probably the worst possible choice. Reasons:
- Doesn’t help grab a swing state (Ohio is already Red).
- Probably the most obnoxious VP pick possible. Just a hateable **** in all dimensions.
- Adds nothing in terms of demographics. Just another white dude.
- Adds nothing in terms of politics. Just another wingnut.
- Has past of vehemently denouncing Trump. Thus, his past words can be used against the campaign, and he can pointed at (I won’t even say “labeled”) as a flip-flopper and opportunist.
He will palpably hurt Trump’s chances.
lmfao!
I am surprised. Hes from Ohio. I figured Ohio was already going for trump but, eh.
I am from Ohio and I don’t know anything about him.
Yeah, the dude doesn’t even hide it. His eyes fucking glow with malice, it’s so bad.
Of course she will. But then people will say she was shrill, or laughed inappropriately.
Vance is smarter than Trump, ambitious, and, I suspect, loyal to no one except himself. He’s also perfectly well aware of the 22nd Amendment, and likely counting on it to put him in the heir-apparent position in 2028. Why would he go along with an (almost certainly unpopular as well as illegal) scheme to give Trump a third term?
Far more likely that he ends up being the one to shiv Trump, maybe somewhere around January 21, 2027. Which would be highly entertaining, though not, God knows, worth the price the country would pay in the meantime.
It is a sign Trump is confident of winning. I thought, and posted, that he would make a safer pick.
Overconfident? We will see.
