Saying POTUS can’t be prosecuted isn’t the same as saying he can do something. It’s not like the only limitation on the POTUS is the threat of prison, but rather it’s because the role itself is inherently limited.
The scheme he hatched in 2020/2021 is even less likely to succeed than before, the only difference is that he at least has more roadblocks to throw out if he is prosecuted again.

Trump has made no effort to get more voters, and while the MAGAs are certainly energized (and entertaining), there aren’t enough of them to win. He needs more voters in his column. Meanwhile, the Democrats have the numbers but seem to be fumbling on determining how to get their superior numbers to actually cast votes.

Is it possible that what you’re saying here is the planned pitch? Oh, sure, I could’ve picked someone who’d get me more voters, he could say. But I demonstrably didn’t do that; I selected the person I believe is the best choice to take over if the next bullet doesn’t miss. If I’d wanted to pander to this or that group, I would’ve; but I’ve chosen to put the country first.

There couldn’t be a choice that would impact the vote on the West Coast or the upper New East so there was no need to go after those votes, the South will be locked in.
Again, if you can take your blinders off, this was a smart choice.

It was a dumb choice in the sense that moderates are more likely to win, and Vance is extreme.
Picking a white male was also dumb.
However — it was a smart choice because Vance can modulate his message to the audience. If I was Kamala Harris — and ignoring all other implications — I would prefer to debate Trump over Vance.
Yesterday my 98 year old but still sharp mother suggested, to non-receptive family members, that Trump was not as bad as he used to be (what Dr. Phil says.) I think we convinced her otherwise. But I can see Vance having some success pushing in that direction.
It also was a semi-smart choice in that Vance was the least insane pick that will still please Trump’s base.

Pence was a smart choice in 2016. He brought in the evangelicals, for one thing. More importantly, he was a nicer, more moderate guy than Trump, and if a super-nice milquetoast candyass mutherfucker like Pence can tolerate Trump, then can’t we all???
Vance, in contrast, is a viper in viper’s skin. Nothing hidden. Fake, noxious, obnoxious, grifting (like his god), malevolent, and evil. There will be no Pence effect. It’s a big deal.
