They would also be a liability if chosen as VP. Vance is a bit different in that he wasn’t competing with Trump when he made his comments and thus can’t say, “I was just trying to win in the primary”; plus, he went into great detail. He wrote a full op-ed!
So you’re gonna stop people from posting this on social media…how? This isn’t coordinated, it’s people thinking this is hilarious and running with it. That’s the best kind of viral. And I, for one, love it.
People have been making shit up about politicians to make other people laugh for as long as there have been politicians.
The latest issue is something he posted a short time ago; he shared a video of a woman being “humped” by a dolphin, and made a joke about how the internet maybe isn’t a good idea.
Except he’s being viciously mocked for the post, since it appears he found the video by searching for “woman” and “dolphin” (those words are highlighted in the post).
The implication being that Vance was specifically looking for dolphin/woman love.
Be that as it may, social media is where it originated, where it continues to spread, and continues to define Vance as a weirdo. It’s an aspect of the campaign currently, so why should we ignore it?
Are we allowed to talk about stuff made up about the candidates by the writers at SNL? The Onion? Making stuff up about politicians to satirize and mock is just what people do. Sometimes the stuff made up feeds into the public perception (Bill Clinton stopping for Big Macs on a jog), or goes against it (Jimmy Carter talking someone down from a bad acid trip).
Why are you so worried about people making fun of JD Vance? Anything that gets people laughing at him, humiliating him, or otherwise defining him as a weirdo is ok by me.
Vetted? Vance?
Hell, the Republicants never vetted Don the Con.
“Let’s see, how about running a convicted felon, serial adulterer, racist, treasonist, incorrigible liar, tax cheating, draft dodging, military hating, business failure, reality show host.”
“Sounds bad, the American people would never go for someone so odious and odiferous.”
If this couch thing came from the DNC or a Senator or Governor or Harris herself, you might have a point. As it is, it’s just funny people on X and Threads being funny.
