If this is gonna be the modern equivalent of “Richard Gere shoved a live gerbil up his butt” or “Rod Stewart got rushed to the ER and they pumped 3 gallons of semen out of his stomach”, then it couldn’t have happened to anyone more deserving.

Just think of all the Trump * Vance merch they’ve already produced (and perhaps even paid for) – all going to waste?
I can see them not vetting him for his public image. But they should have at least vetted him for Trump.
The problem here isn’t going to be accusations over couch sex and dolphin sex and name changes. It’s going to be if Trump decides to take offense at the things Vance has said about him. With most politicians that wouldn’t be an issue. They can make up with an opponent if they gain by it. But Trump is notoriously thin-skinned and holds petty grudges forever.
If the Democrats keep people talking about the things Vance said about Trump, at some point Trump will snap and turn on Vance. He’ll publicly attack Vance to “put him in his place” and that will weaken both men’s chances at getting elected. He’ll probably also try his signature maneuver of firing Vance and replacing him with a more sycophantic running mate. Even if the Republicans are able to buy off Vance and get him to agree to resign, Trump replacing his own supposed VP choice will hurt him. And Trump is not at a point where he can afford to look like he’s fumbling.
I’m a little scared that Trump will get rid of Vance and replace him with Haley. He thinks he is invincible so I seriously doubt he cares who the VP is as long as they suck up to him enough. However, Haley as VP could seriously hurt Harris.
I would question that. The appeal to women or non-white voters will be narrow with Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate. If anything, it will highlight the way the Republicans want to keep their party under white male control while only giving anyone who isn’t a white man a token role. And the angry white men who make up a substantial portion of the Republican base might decide that it was a sell-out and not vote for either party.
Who would do the vetting? Think about it. trump only has sycophants that will work for free.
There is a difference. Satirizing Palin by changing her “You can see Russia from Alaska” (which although true is meaningless) into “I can see Russia from my front porch” is satire. Making up bullshit about someone is- well, making up bullshit- and that is what the MAGAs and the kremlin does. Do we want to be like them?
It is not making fun- it is making up bullshit. Make fun of stuff he actually SAID- there is plenty of fertile ground there- Cat lady, porpoises, what he really honestly said about trump.
Yeah, let us do that, instead of making up bullshit.
