Who's Who on the SDMB?

Not anymore, got banned again.

DrMatrix is a new Moderator and much-appreciated expert on mathematics and science issues. His spouse, CajunMan, is a bon vivant with a marvelous knowledge of art, photography, and particularly the Warhol era.

Several of us here are attorneys. My focus is mainly in corporate and securities law, so I’m basically useless for most legal questions ;); SuaSponte has written extensively on Constitutional matters, Jodi is our resident Explainer Extraordinaire, and Billdo is a litigator with quite diverse experience. Muffin, an attorney in Canada, also writes quite eloquently.

Oh, Billdo’s sister is Green Bean.

Manhattan, also a GQ moderator, is a finance whiz and a Person Whom We Do Not Cross :D.

Anthracite is an erotic story writer and powerplant engineer. Another Great Explainer, especially on technology, energy and engineering.

Most of the people I’ve met here are charming and fun, which is really all you need to know. Those who are uncharming and unfun…well, they tend to weed themselves out eventually :).

LynnBodoni is She Who Must Be Obeyed. [insert praying-before-Mecca smiley]

Okay, okay, but 16 shoes would be cheaper to buy than size 16 shoes

I 've worked in the planetarium field for around eight years. I have no other discernible signs of having a life.

Buuuut I did get quoted in this book. I even got mentioned in the index, right after Al Gore and Newt Gingrich. And the book’s author agrees more with me than those other two!

This is also my 500th post. At this current rate I should reach 10,000 sometime in the mid-2040s.

Sealemon88’s screen name is actually NOT pronounced “sea-lemon.” It’s more of a “seale-mon” kind of thing.
Scotticher doesn’t know how to pronounce her own screen name. Came up with it without ever speaking it out loud. Her real name is Cheri, and she works for a Dr. Hoofnagle, D.D.S., which cracks me up.
• Hi, Opal! She runs her own board over at fff.fathom.org
tomndebb is frequently recognized as being spectacularly full of knowledge and debate ability. He brings reason and moderation even to Pit thread pile-ons.
RichG7subs and myself (I believe) are the only persons to have served time on USN nuke submarines.
But I haven’t seen him around lately.

  • Dave

I hate you all equally.

thinksnow’s name is actually pronounced think snow, not thinks now.

And I hear your name is pronounced Dave

Man! Just TRY buying size 16 shoes in Korea! I dares ya!

I may be shoeless by Chritmas…:frowning:

I’m kinda gunned right now

Bugger off

And LittleBird, and me.

I work mornings as a telemarketer/customer service person and afternoons at a Zoo/Animal Talent Agency. I also have about thirty animals, two boys and Mr. Zoogirl at home. My other claims to fame are having several poems published, and being on the Drama team at church. I am also sometimes known as the Christian girl (not a username). I try to be a voice of reason in the face of some of the idiotic things I see done in the name of religion. I pretty much like everyone, even the Pit Dwellers. Is a person considered a troll if they’re NICE in the pit!? I’ve been on almost every night since I found this site, and I think I may have set some kind of a record for newbie posting! So far I don’t seem to have annoyed anyone TOO much. I can be found mainly here and in the Pit, but I think I have something on just about all the forums.

Oh, yeah
I am, on occaision, excedingly smart-ass!

Great vocabulary—now if I could only spel!

Pfft:D I had 300 within a month on this site. For a while I was averaging 500 a month.

Not that I’m, like bragging or anything.

Oh. I write way too much (viz. my posting) and a girl I know used a poem of mine in an assignment for English. Got a 204 out of 200. And she’s running it in a newspaper ya hafta pay for, too!

[sub]That’s just about all the cool stuff about me.[/sub]

I’m me.

I’m currently unemployeed, and tired of it (took awhile). I’m frugal–which allowed me to become sick of it before it became an emergency financial situation.

I have a troubling tendency to write long, rambling setences full of parentheticals (similarly full of long, rambling verbiage) and semicolons connecting them to other related long rambling clauses; this marks one of the few times where I (consciously, I mean) decided to do so at the beginning, and even edited it after the fact to add more words. I work on that, but it’s difficult. The problem is that it really does flow like my thought process; I’ll stop threads of thought dead to pursue a brief side-track, then return without much problem.

I’m mildly sadistic, in that I do enjoy confusing people. I try to do so less often than I once did in my pre-SD days.

Quite often, the largest hindrance to my post-count is that I have difficulty figuring out how to end a post.

spooje is poor-spelling, baseball-loving, hyphenated recovering addict bald man.

And Australian. Known to most of the world as actress Judy Davis, Primaflora keeps company with such other antipodeans as can be found at Dopers Downunder.

Some of us have a tendency to get grouchy if you give away details of movies or TV shows that haven’t opened down below as yet. Hence the need for large “SPOILER ALERT” signs.

Redboss

pssst, Redboss darling, I’m a Kiwi who will become an Aussie ASAP after Dec 3 and I’m officially sulking because Little Johnny has called the election too early for me to vote.

We’ve got an invite to an advance screening of Purely Belter. You heard of it? If you were here, you could go with Mr Primaflora because I can’t find a babysitter :(.

Or you could babysit.

i’m a taiwanese cat who’s usually high on catnip when posting (hence the odd reference to being human… catnip does straaaaaaaaaange things to a cat’s brain :D)

time for another catnip fix…
wanders off to catnip stash

No, no, that’s me. See where it says “Dave” right up there?

First, about some posters that I know:

[ul]
[li]Tripler is a fun-lovin’, beer-drinkin’, Devils-lovin’ guy (and a lot of fun to go around NYC with!) who seems to think that he’s legally prohibited from getting a date.[/li][li]hardygrrl loves to flirt and got her name from being a huge Jeff Hardy fan. She has Jeff Hardy stuff all over her cubicle at work, which she sometimes gets a hard time about.[/li][li]Arden Ranger lives in Oklahoma, and recently went to Dragon*Con in Atlanta. Her birthday is in January, and the desperate hope is to get her to The NYC Mega-Dopefest to help her celebrate in style. Her screen name is from (IIRC) an Amber novel.[/li][li]Uncle Bill lives in Miami and rides his bike to Key West a lot. He’s flown out for several Dopefests, and has had the honor of meeting many Dopers because of this (he even has given kisses to Dopers on my behalf because I couldn’t be there myself) He’s was in the Marines. Also, he’s another one who loves to flirt.[/li][li]Verrain is one of the sweetest guys on the board who will give a hug to anyone. He was keeping up the Ultimate Pick-Me-Up thread, and started his own Hug thread, just to help brighten Dopers’ days. He is in school at UPenn, and is doing, IIRC, cancer research.[/li][li]Weirddave is a Baltimore-a-holic. He lives there, and believes it to be the best city anywhere. He’s a great friend to have, being there when you need him (like when he helped Geobabe out with her car). He helps keep the flame of hope alive.[/li][li]purplebear lives in Texas and is one of the friendliest people on the board. She is supportive when you need it, and speaks her mind when the time is right. She has been best friends with maidenunicorn41 for a very, very, very long time. Her daughter is bluebear and is married to Mr Bear. She is wonderful at both flirting and being “mothering”… a great combination.[/li][li]ChiefScott is the one syllable cunnilingus god. He hates smilies, and only uses them on the rarest of occasions, and some of those have been accidents. He has a young son that he loves very much and spends time with when time permits.[/li][li]Tygr is in the process of having a new baby. (Well, his wife is, anyway! :D) He lives in Raleigh NC, and works at a job that he got through Polycarp. He does most of his posting during the day from work, but the powers-that-be at his job have been cracking down on that lately, so his posting has gone down by a bit.[/li][li]Home of the Braves is my best friend. She’s also a huge Braves and Bucs fan. She teaches 7th grade reading at an inner city school in Florida. Oh, and she’s getting married in March, and I’m her Maid of Honor. :)[/li][/ul]

Ok, now for me, I guess. I’m dating lurkernomore (who I won’t post about because I don’t remember what’s been said on the board and what I know because I’m dating him! ). I’m now living in NY. In May, I drove a 26’ U-Haul by myself from Florida to here… though lurker met me in Baltimore to direct me through NYC. I used to run The Flirt Academy here on the board, but school finally closed. I’ve worked a variety of jobs in my 27 years, mostly as a customer service rep. My last job allowed me to post from work, but this one doesn’t have internet access at all. That’s cut down on my post time tremendously.

And I never have yet managed to flirt with LindyHopper, much to my regret.

Well, quietgirl and I are “longtime companions” or whatever you want to call it.

I’m a columnist for a gay newspaper, and some of my columns has appeared in a handful of other papers. I even got a gay journalism award once. I also write plays.
