Haze, have a safe trip and please let us know that you’ve landed safely as soon as you can. And also some {{{}}} for the trip.
beebs, other than the obvious thought that you’re forgetting about your own true love here (moi) I’d honestly have to say that 2 and 3 sound like trouble to me. As a matter of fact, I almost wonder if you were just trying to be funny and made those up. I kind of hope that you did because I don’t think that you need to deal with other people’s baggage right now. Number 1, however, sounds like a good choice and I hope that you’ll pick her and she won’t be to jealous when you tell her about us.
Well, I guess I slept in a little bit. We’ve got a graduation party today. So I’ll be going in a couple hours from now. I’m a little bit frustrated, as usual, with all the bills that I have and all the money that I don’t have but I guess I’ll just have to hope for the best.
Haze, write as soon as you get there! Have a safe trip.
I’m up and caffeinated and starving. I’m making sausages and scrambled eggs. Mr Rebo will miss breakfast though 'cause he went to look at a motorcycle he found on craigslist. 1983 Harley Sportster.
Safe travels, Haze. You’re going to post en route, right? Do you have any stops or do you have a direct flight?
#1 sounds good to me, too, beebs. (I’d say you could consider 3, but I agree with Pie about not needed to deal with other people’s baggage.)
Good luck with graduation, Taters.. Don’t get too stressed out - everything will be fine. You are going to share the lasagna recipe, right?
I’m thinking Taz is just trying to remind you that he is in charge, FCM. The Kid’s camp sounds very cool. Nice that she has the opportunity - and more income than promised is a bonus, of course!
Fell asleep really late and woke up early. Forced myself to fall asleep again for a while, but still didn’t get enough sleep.
Guess I should work on being productive. Lots and lots to do - and too little time as usual.
I know I missed her already, but travel safely and well Haze & Olive I’m sure that loooong flight will not be easy–Does anyone know if Olive has flown before this trip? Poor kitty deserves lots of mandatory skritches after this.
What are Namaino bars??
Rigs what are daughter and TH doing in Boston? (Did I miss something from your busy life?) Good luck to son swimmin’ with the fishies in Australia. and YEAH to you for some almost alone time.
Beebs I don’t know what to tell you about any of your women. They all sound like they have pros and cons. If you’re just emailing, chatting, getting the feel of things–there’s no harm in talking to all three of them. Just be aware–it’s easy to create a whole 'nother personality online totally unlike what one is in person. But, having said that, I’ve made few friends over the years by randomly talking to people on AIM or whatever. I would probably start with #1 and see what happens. I’m guessing from the sports references that she lives in Wisconsin. Keep us updated with how this goes.
OH–new computer is good. different. a little hard to get used to–the short cuts from windows don’t work. But, most important–it’s very pretty!
My office is a mix of nationalities too, FCM, and it’s pretty cool. My boss is South African, we’ve got an Aussie, a Pervuian, a Brazilian (who is leaving at the end of the month, which sucks since she’s really awesome), two Romanians, an Austrian…I think that’s it but I’m uncaffeinated, so if I remember anything else later I will. I feel so boring.
Nothing’s been happening, I haven’t posted, appropriate hugs/boos/whatevers to all. I need to go drink coffee and hop in the shower and go to work. It’s actually supposed to be warm today! As in 75F warm! It’s about freakin’ time.
Good morning everyone! Just a quick fly-by as I have to start getting ready for my daughter’s graduation. Ye gods, I’m tired. I’ve got coffee going, so hopefully, that’ll wake me up some.
beebs, numbers two and three have got be jokes you made up, right? Number one sounds okay.
FCM, Taz sure has been doing a lot of peeing in and on non-authorized surfaces, hasn’t he? Does he maybe have a UTI? I mean, cats can be real little shits and do stuff like that just because they’re miffed with us, but the UTI thing is worth checking out.
Well, I need get back to it. I don’t know if I’ll get a chance to post later today, so smooches and hugs to all.
Okay, everyone! It is raining, but you’ll all think non-rain thoughts so I can still have my yard sale in a coupl hours, right?
Right?
Nat is telling me I’m the Worst Mother in the World (this really happens a lot) for putting him back to bed when he’s only been up for half an hour. Half an hour of eye-rubbing grumpiness. Go back to sleep or I’m buying opium, kid.
beebs, like the others, I’m not sure if you made those profiles up. They sound a little stereotypical. But I’m a little surprised that everyone is picking #1. Did you want to be an instant daddy? If so, go for it. But I didn’t realize that’s what you were seeking.
Now I know that you’re incorrectly translating. This doesn’t happen until much later. . . when they can talk!
I still have that dust induced headache, but the vicoden is helping. beebs - FWIW, here’s my 2¢
#1 sounds like she is all activity and no culture - what about live plays, concerts, movies, that sort of thing? Plus is she’s a Brewers/Packers fan, are you sure she’s in the Metro Boston area?
#2 hasn’t said anything about herself. I cannot make a judgement call on her.
#3 I have respect for her - going on the wagon and trying to find new things to do to help herself stay there. However, if she’s only been at this a short while, she will not have found her sober self yet and may be very moody and at times disagreeable. In other words (don’t hit me) a potentially perfect match for you {{big hug}}
I’m going to buck the trend here and say go for #2. That way there will be Stories that you can share with the rest of us. Wild and crazy stories that will be much entertainment.
Have a good flight, Haze. May the screaming, kicking child be on a plane going in the opposite direction. mousie, Nanaimo bars are Canada’s mark of superiority in the dessert department. I’ll be trying the official recipe.
My Canadian Linguistics professor made these for us at the end of the semester a couple of years ago. That’s how I know she loved us and wanted us to be happy.
they sound tasty! I’m putting a doily on my CD tray so you can send me one when they’re done. Haze have a safe, quiet, uneventful flight. I look forward to your first post as a “foreign correspondant” to the MMP.
Rebo - I keep meaning to say “thank you” for hosting and scoring all the feuds
c-bear - please check your email - and your email’s junk and trash folders (I’d emailed you Thursday night)
You’re welcome, Rosie. I really enjoy doing them, honest!
I just posted this in a Cafe Society thread, and I think it’s good enough to be added to the Mumper’s Recipes!
This is a recipe my mom got from her friend Rosie, and tweaked to make it her own. We still call it Rosie’s Potatoes, though! Mom passed away a few years ago, and recently Rosie called me for the recipe! Cracked me up.
Rosie’s Potatoes
6 red potatoes, sliced and parboiled for about 3 minutes
1 cup milk
1 tbs butter
1 tbs corn starch
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
2 green onions, sliced thin
¼ lb velveeta, cubed
4 oz sour cream
Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray. Place sliced potatoes in dish, and add a dash of salt and pepper. Mix to season all the potatoes.
Over medium heat, whisk milk, butter and cornstarch until thickened. Add salt and pepper. Be careful not to scorch the bottom. When it starts to get thick, stir in the green onions and velveeta, heating slowly to melt the cheese. When all melted, remove from heat and stir in the sour cream. Combine thoroughly, and pour over potatoes.
Daughter is en route back to camp - I expect her call any time now to let us know she arrived alive. Yeah, I know she’s 22 and married, but a mother still worries!!
**FCD ** and I built a corner and a T and put down the floor plates for the bathroom and the laundry room as well as one of the ceiling plates for the laundry room. Plus we did other stuff like tidy up and discuss the construction of the soffits. If you really care about the terminology, you can always Google.
And since I have to take the doggies to the groomer in about 30 minutes, we quit, we’ll take the doggies, then go to lunch. Afterwards, we’ll come back and finish framing the bathroom and laundry room, then do the wall between the bedroom and the kitchen. We should have all the framing done by tomorrow.
The house is all ours for at least another 24 hours till SIL returns. It’s so nice…
Morning, all. It’s going to be a warm and sticky weekend here. Fortunately, our AC works well.
Safe trip, {{{Haze}}}! And please do post as soon as you can to let us know you made it. I hope the children whose parents have no common language with anyone else on the plane are kicking someone else’s seat back all the way across the Pacific!
FCM, your activity level leaves me chronically exhausted. How do you do it, pray tell? Me, I just enjoy being a slug!
I agree with #1, beebs. Although #2 definitely sounds like she’d be a good one to take to Room 304.
As planned, landlord’s roomie Phu came over yesterday and spent a couple hours trying to clean out the dryer vent pipe. He got one big clump out, like I did, but alas, it’s still about 90% plugged – when the dryer’s running, you can feel a little bit of warm air coming through, but certainly not what it’s supposed to be. That aside, the washer & dryer work great, and it’s wonderful to have an auto dry cycle that actually auto dries! (The old one’s sensor pretty much gave up the ghost several years ago.) I shall have to take a photo when we get the laundry room all sorted out. The control panels on both of them look like something you’d see in an airplane cockpit – just about any combination you can imagine, it can do! I shall definitely have fun trying the assorted cycles.
Our doggies got to go to the Bestest Place Ever, i.e. the dog beach, early this morning, which explains why, when I got up, they were both inert lumps on the floor, and still are. They do love to swim! And it wears them out for the day, which is even nicer.
MOOOOOOM I meant to say earlier, I may come across as gay sometimes cause there are times teh gay just oozes out of me and can’t be stopped. So y’all have the whole house to yourselves. Boy, y’all sure know how to make the best if it!
Have a safe trip Haze!
Happy Graduation TatersDaughter!
Y’all know how I said today was pretty much a do nuttin’ day. Well, I forgot this one little chore. Last night I sprayed the grill with oven cleaner. Thus, I had determined that today was clean the grill day. I thought about it while we were breakfastin’ at Golden Corral. They have a really good weekend brekkie deal. Waffles and omelets made to order plus all kinds of other stuff. I had me a fried chicken chest even! So, we went to the sto’ and got deli stuff and I cleaned the grill when we got back. The oven cleaner really did it’s thing on the grease and all. It took an hour to clean it because I do take it pretty much apart and clean inside and out. It’s all shiny and grease free now.
Oh, I have been told that we are dinin’ at IHOP tonight. It seems ol’ y’all know who has a hankerin’ for IHOP of all things. Oh well, he’s payin’!
Well, we’re back from getting Blaze’a stitches out. It looks good! A little red where he decided he’d had enough and pulled some stitches out himself, but nothing raw. I’m sure he’s glad to get that stupid t-shirt off. Thank you so much for whoever suggested it, it was a lifesaver! Or at least a stitch saver.
We’re going out for cheap Chinese tonight, and I’m doing laundry. Mr Rebo is still out and about, but I talked to him and he said he did buy the bike. He said the seller was almost crying. The bike needs to be reassembled, because he had it apart for storage. And it needs a new gas tank. Blue book price on one in medium condition is $5-6K - hubby got this for $1700. Just what he needs, a new project. Nah - it’s ok. He’s a good hubby.
The door drama has been resolved. We wrote a nasty letter to the manufacturer after the doofus came out to inspect the door. He had told us to basically remachine the door! The milled out area for the top hinge, and the door lock part. WTF? Oh, and torque the hell out of the warped frame - and it should all work just fine! And we’ll send you the missing weather stripping. Gah!
So last weekend, hubby bought a new door (from someone else) which will arrive in about two more weeks. The manufacturer’s response to our nasty letter was, “Ok, return the door to Home Depot and we will refund your money.” Home Depot had told us we could not do that, before. Whatever. I think we’re done with Home Depot, and Feather River Door Company - forever. Definitely the door company!
beebs,#1 sounds kinda yawn inducing, one of those “nice” types but she might just not express well in writing. Baggage in the form of a young kid indicates she’s shopping for a daddy–you looking for that? #2 might be fun in Rm 304 but she’ll charge you afterward–that’s a straight up “escort” ad if I’ve ever seen one. #3 sounds like the smartest of the bunch and as long as you don’t have her old habits she sounds like a lotta fun, and as pointed out is probably as snotty and sassy as you are. The question then is “can you handle the competition?”
Also from the snob point of view, #3 is the only one who can spell! I say go for #3 but at least talk f2f with #1. Only call #2 if you just have to use up that condom that’s been festering in your wallet for more than six months and you have some money burning a hole in your pocket.
Oh, and [del]ladles[/del] <—<<< I saw what you did there!
I’m off to the boifday partay, hooray! I did not know that Sweet Tomatoes does brunch on weekends, I’m rather looking forward to it.
Evenin’ all. Feeling kind of blah! Teh Weekend is over. Le Sigh!
{{{}}} for all who need 'em.
beebs, not to go against the tide of opinion, but #3 sounded best to me, if’n you don’t drink. #1 has baggage and #2 will leave an invoice for you when she’s done (assuming she doesn’t ask for up-front payment or just steal your wallet)!
I read everything, but remember virtually nothing, except: Have a safe trip home to Korea, Haze!!!
Went to Home Depot and looked at paint. I took several pillowcases so that I could narrow down the potential candidates. I bought a few tools that I need for taking up the carpet and for scraping paint off the kitchen door. I also looked at paint for the railing on the stoop, since I need to paint it when I re-do the stoop. I’m thinking I may paint the front door as well, while I’m engaging in a generalized painting frenzy. I want to replace it, too, but given the unexpected roofing expense, that’s not happening. I think I’ll be able to use the same paint I’m using on the railing (Rustoleum Universal). If I do that, I’ll probably paint the railing, the frame of the storm door (which is also wrought iron and looking worn) and the exterior door. I can spray the mailbox, house numbers and porch light to match the railing and everything will look all coordinated. It’ll be a first!
I’m feeling tired, so I think I’ll take a nap and then go out and play in the garden.
