Perhaps it wasn’t clear because yours was the post I responded to, but my general point in this thread was in protest to the notion that the thread be closed to prevent us talking about it. I never said that anybody owed anybody else any answers. My point was ONLY that I felt that attempts to not allow us to discuss it were a bad thing

It was indeed an overreaction. It seems that he has apologized too.

For those of us who don’t understand, I urge you to at least try to understand this: The medicines that are given to try to help cure us often impact our personalities pretty heavily. It has been stated that BarnOwl is being treated for Cancer. I have not had to endure that - thank whatever gods there are - so I can’t know what it is like. But I have had some treatments this past year and I know that there have been plenty of days when I wasn’t acting like myself, sometimes from medicine, sometimes just from the fact that chronic pain is very debilitating. I am thankful that the people who interacted with me cared about me enough to recognize it was a fluke of my condition.

It was an odd thing, but perhaps it was something from his treatment speaking and not him. Perhaps we can give him a pass on this one.

At least, that is how I’m going to view it until I have evidence to the contrary.

I think we do understand that; however (and I am in no way trivializing or offering something truly comparable) maybe those would be good days to just lurk around. If I’m just merely in a foul mood or a tad under the weather, I usually don’t post any more because I’ve seen what happens. I’ll just try to peruse and enjoy and wait until I’m in a better state of mind. Just sayin’…

I for one am very glad that we got to see the resolution to this and didn’t have it just get shushed down, because the result is that I see that BarnOwl was having some sort of bad day possibly related to medication or lack of sleep or whatever and that he’s since realized that Quasi was joking and has apologized, etc. Had I not seen that, I would just be sitting here still thinking “wow, that guy BarnOwl is a total nutjob” and would probably skip future posts by him etc etc etc. As it is the situation is resolved and in the open. I think things like that are important in a community.

Very shortly after the post you quoted from Rigmarole, it was made clear that Rigmarole simply wasn’t aware that BarnOwl had apologized.

And the quote from OpalCat says pretty much the opposite of what you summarized it as saying. In the quote, she’s not expressing a desire for more from BarnOwl, rather, she’s expressing satisfaction at the way things have turned out.

Yeah, what Frylock said. My purpose in posting to this thread in the first place was to voice my opinion that it not be shut down, because I felt it was important to be able to discuss it/figure out what was going on/etc. In the end that is what happened, and it worked out very much for the best. If we hadn’t gotten to hear the end of the story I think many of us would have lost respect for BarnOwl and actively disliked him due only to what we saw in the other thread–as it is most of us now realize that it was a one-time thing and don’t hold it against him. That would not be the case had the thread been closed at the beginning.

I might suggest that FarmerChicke try to read for comprehension next time.
