I’ve been makin’ bread and butter pickles. Well, a version of 'em anyways. It involves dill chips, chopped garlic and sugar. Drain the pickles, chop up a bunch of garlic. Or smash it like I do, it’s more cathartic. Dump a handful in the bottom of the empty jar. Add about a third (or whatever) cup of sugar. Dump in a handful of pickles. Add more sugar. Add more pickles. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. The thing to do is start and end with sugar. Turn the jar(s) upside down for 24 hours. Then rightside up 24 hrs. for seven days. VOILA! Bread and butter pickles! They have a sweet garlicy taste that I really like. I use the quart size jars of pickles. I did eight quarts. That’s why I said a bunch of garlic. Buy you a bunch of garlic.
Can I go home now? Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase? Pretty pleeeeeaaaaaase. I am entirely frustrated with a project I’m working on and am really at the “fuck it” stage for today.

I made Pioneer Woman’s carrot cake for my manager’s birthday today. It’s goooooooood and getting many good reviews from coworkers. This is after a canned-cherry-pie-filling “black forest” cake yesterday. I put it in quotes 'cause cake mix and cherry pie filling just doesn’t quite seem up to par. It was ok, but the from-scratch carrot cake with cream cheese frosting is awesome. I have one more June birthday to make a cake for and then I’ll be done for a little while at least!
They are good kai. I had to go ahead and make ‘em cause I was down to the last quart of the last batch! :eek: Plus, they have been requested for the Fourth of July doin’s. We’re spendin’ the Fourth in the large and in charge town of Parrott, Jawja. This has been a several years thing to go there to friends’ house for a big ol’ bbq and general carryin’s on.
Dindin tonight is pasta sallit and/or sammiches. It’s hawt and I don’t wanna cook.
The Low Country Boil is all settled for Sattidy. Everybody knows who’s bringin’ what. Yay. All I wanna do is relaxate by the pool.
I just remembered I bought some fresh 'maters earlier today. Thus I shall fry bacon (while fully clothed you preverts!) so’s we can have blts. MMMMMMMMM… BLTS! Maybe I’ll do some of those frozen fries in the oven. Plus toast the bread.
I said I was not cookin’ and all of that qualifies as cookin’. That’s why OYKW is such a spoiled brat!

Woke up at 4 this morning, so I’m feeling pretty raggedy. Class had its moments - a large part of it covered stuff I already knew, but I picked up enough other things to make the day worthwhile. Plus I left a little earlier than usual. I stopped at a new Amish stand and got some sweet corn (nirvana!!!) and muy primo 'maters! We enjoyed both for supper with a couple of small sirloins and the last of the leftover baked N.O.T.s - so I’s stuffded!
We got a confirmation email about our cruise. Six nights for both of us is $1575, plus $10 to park. I’d say it’s a good deal. They also sent a suggested list of stuff to pack and a map. All we need to do now is pick a hotel for 2 nights in New Bedford, then decide where we’ll spend our last 2 nights after the cruise. Yay for vacations!!! The boat isn’t full, so if anyone wants to come along…

I have a cat named Booger, and another named Ralph for it’s affinity to blow chow. I also suggested to my ambulance partner a name for his kitteh: Claude.
I’m worried about my friend SockLady and her husband. I got a text from her about 4 hours ago saying that they were at the hospital waiting for him to be admitted. He’s 78 years old.
