Then I shall bring him back and finish the trip with my children.

I’m sorry you have not had much rain down there - we had flooding in DC last night. You are just about due West from my parents in Princess Anne and they too have had little rain.
How far are you from Solomons Island? My friend Scott & I were thinking about making a run across the Bay from Deal Island sometime during the next 4 days for fun and hitting that dock bar Stoneys or maybe something harborside.

My internet went out again due to the power going out a couple of days ago. I’ve replaced the cable coupler over the weekend and that fixed the problems I was having. Now I’m getting the same issue, but after my landlord reset the modem I had partial access last night (not able to use a browser). I hope this starts to work again soon or I’ll have to get a wireless card and have Complicated Friend remote into my computer to see what the hell. :mad:

Welp, the Job #2 people evidently were in no hurry, so Job #1 it is. I sure can’t complain, it’s still a week until I finish this job and I already know where I’m going, and while this former and future client wasn’t the best it wasn’t the worst.
Plus, telling Boss #1 (which shall be his official name for the next few months) that I had another suitor got me the possibility of maybe, depending, if the wind is blowing right, work from home on some of those weeks when we’re supposed to be in the consultant firm’s Madrid offices…
And a week from now, I shall start three weeks vacation, wooooo!
We had pretty wild thunder, lightning, and downpours for a good 2.5 hours this morning. During the worst of it, I was in the shower getting ready for work, and my bathroom door just burst open and my two dogs came running in. Stupid doors never work right in my house…
My poor Brandi was just a mess. While I was in the shower she hid in my closet, when I got out of the shower, she stuck to me like glue. Poor thing twitched every time there was a boom and for a good while there it was right on top of my house. I tried putting her up on my bed and wrapping her with a comforter, but she was having none of that. Nope, she had to lie ON my feet as I was trying to get ready for work (hair, make-up, etc). Finally, when I was ready to leave for work, I opened my son’s bedroom door and told him he was going to have to baby Brandi, because she was scared.
Polar was even acting skittish, but I think it was mainly because Brandi was so upset. There were a couple of times that Polar’s eyes really widened when a large clap of thunder boomed, but other than that, he was lying in his usual spot while I get ready in the morning.
I don’t have any real plans for the weekend. We’re going to some friends’ house tomorrow evening to just hang out and watch movies with them. On Sunday, my daughter and her sweetie are coming down.
Now, I must press on with work. It’s been so hellish and I’m tired, but I press on…because I’m trooper, or some such bullshit.

Made turnip tsukemono last night for this weekend. And went shopping - I meant to only go to Kmart to get a plastic pitcher and two quart bottles. But they had the bathroom rugs I like, the ones with no rubber backing, in the correct colors for my bathroom, so I got three of those. And I thought I should get some non-pink towels for my boyfriend to use. Then I was looking at camping stuff and broke down and bought a small cooler and freezer packs, so I can have cold food at the guild site and the camp site without stealing cooler space.
And then I went to the book store, but somehow only came out with two books (I think I’m getting old… that and I know I have about 4000 ebooks to read).
For the tsukemono, I made half by the recipe (more or less), then experimented. They get a bitter aftertaste, so I’m seeing if adding mirin and rice vinegar early will help (I still like them and I seem to be more sensitive to ‘bitter’). I’m afraid it’ll be like the other times I’ve cooked, and no one else will eat it. I don’t understand it - I cook and it sits, I bring cookies from the store and they disappear (well, okay, that last part makes perfect sense. It’s still bad for my ego).

I very recently discovered that one of the Hallmark channels (shut up, you know you watch things on there from time to time … come on. :)) runs the old Perry Mason show in the mornings (well, at least mornings here in NM). There are two shows, at 10 and 11 am, so I have been enjoying watching them. There was one this morning from 1958 that starred Frankie Laine and Bobby Troup; Troup was a musician (of course, he was in real life - he wrote Route 66!) and also ended up being the murderer. OMG though, it was steeped in 50s hep talk, quite a laugh riot, let me tell ya Daddio!
My thoughts are with the families in Aurora CO today.

Yeah yeah…I’ve been away. Busy like crazy at work, the usual getting ready for school stuff. The good news is that here in the New Place, we get all the crazy out of the way weeks before school starts (on 8/20), so after this week, I just have some normal-busy stuff to stay on.
In other news, Evil Fat Scarlett, our 11 year old female cat is noticeably less evil and fat these days. I switched the dry food in the bowls that I leave out from the normal Iams kibbles to a mix of the normal and the “your cat be too fat” kind.
She’s lost a couple pounds I’d guess, any pain she was having in her hips seems mostly gone because she runs and jumps around like she just lost five years off her age. This morning I caught her stalking Cuervo, wiggling her tail and pouncing. She and he get along ok enough, but her and the Bear are mortal enemies and that poor dumb little guy isn’t quite sure how to handle a female that outweighs him (still) by about 3/1 and suddenly feels like fighting instead of falling down and hissing.
And her mood is amazing, she’s actually kind of fun to be around now!

Got the pm. Will have to wait for good weather which is likely going to be Monday but I will give you plenty of warning.
I’d look like a mummy. What started on one hand, now has between 1 & 4 dots on EACH finger of the other hand, a few dots on one foot, chest & stomach, & one dot near the elbow. The good news is that I haven’t put anything in or on me for it today, it’s down to just mildly annoying. 
May try to drown the rest in beer tonight - from the inside, not taking a bath in the stuff.
