Emily Rose
Not “M. LeRose”?
Ann-a-STAY-zhay-on.
Real name is Stasia. Pronounced STAY-zsa. Not Sta-SEE-a, not Stacey-a, not Stahzhia. STAY-zsa. Zsa, like Zsa Zsa Gabor. Sounds like a soft J, but not quite.
How do you write that sound out in the english language? I don’t know if it would make it easier or more complicated.
Or should we just call you clobhair-ceann and hide the booze? Remember that great Spider Robinson story about the cluricaun in Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon?
First, I thought about spelling my username that way a long time ago, but apart from maybe 3 or 4 Dopers I didn’t think anyone would ever get it. As it is I think that only maybe 5 or 6 usually do anyway. Secondly, I have no idea about said story, but I’m going to look it up.
Just…incredible.
I’m not, really
Are you named for the wrestler?
Oh man, I’ve been calling you Kie - thee - reeah, rhyming with cafeteria, all this time. Does it have a meaning?
Well, the ancients had a device that was supposed to protect them from her. Almost.
don’t hit me
Shahn-TOOZ.
G G like my initials, NOT zhee-zhee like the character.
Rhymes with “sauce in”.
But how do you pronounce “sauce”? Midwest, I’m thinking, like “hot”?

Usually, “zh,” as in “Dr. Zhivago.” It’s not a normal digraph in the English language, but it makes sense as “zh” is a voiced “sh” (postalveolar fricative) just like “z” is a voiced “s.” Some dictionaries also use “zh” to denote this sound in words like: vision, treasure, beige, azure.

I just assumed it was from this book by Spider Robinson.
Oh, and just pronounce mine however you like.
I had a student with your name and she pronounced it Kah-DEE-zuh with the z sound almost a cross between a j sound and a z sound. Don’t know if that is an authentic pronunciation, but that’s how she said it.
Thanks for letting me know - I’m sure she knew better than I
I think mine is straight-forward, but just to join the fun…

It’s amusing that “dactylic hexameter” is neither dactylic nor hexameter.
