Ya gonna watch the RNC?
I answered no. I expect I’ll see enough highlights on the regular news and doubt I will get any benefit by watching any part of it live or in its complete format. If there was any real threat to Trump, I would watch that, but I don’t expect to see that happen.
The only way I could see myself tuning in if there is serious mayhem on the Convention floor.
I also answered no, for many reasons. Normally I would, but this year…I don’t know. Trump has sapped my interest in the presidential election of 2016. Even though I dislike him, if I thought he didn’t have zero chance of winning, maybe I’d watch some. But when we know the outcome, it’s hard to care.
It has been a few elections now that I have not been watching much of the regular coverage – especially because the regular coverage has itself deteriorated very similarly to the Olympics into a whole lot of the network’s own talk pieces while ignoring undercard speakers and events. Because of that I’ve focused more on the major-candidate or major-keynoter speeches and those often are available immediately afterwards online. Myself usually being deep into local campaign activity of my own by this season I am also likely to have my time occupied by something else on the convention nights.
Usually I would not watch the conventions because they’re usually predictable. This time, though.
Earlier today, for example, there was an attempted revolt (a push for a roll call vote) against Trump. That’s extraordinary.
I wanted to vote Hell No, but I went with No just because it is on the TV behind me here at work so I have to hear it.
Nah. I barely watch TV as is and a bunch of D-Listers talking about how great Trump is isn’t exactly enticing.
I have never watched a political convention; anyones. That kind of theater just isn’t my thing.
hell no, here. and I will pretty much avoid the news for 4 days, too.
This is me. For political theater this time it might actually be interesting. For definitions of interesting that parallel installments on Cops that start “8:32pm Domestic Call.”
I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but given what’s going on over there, I would have expected more over here…
I have no interest in watching any convention. Never have, doubt that I ever will. I hate that the political process in this country is ongoing and eternal. Our elected officials spend all their time trying to get re-elected - when do they do anything?
There’s got to be a better way…
Well frankly I dont watch any convention because its too much “rah rah” for their own candidate.
I mean do you democrats want to sit thru hours of people bragging about Hillary?
I did catch some of the speeches on Youtube.
I remember the whole family watching in the old days–when stuff really happened at conventions. Huntley & Brinkiley or Walter Cronkite led their teams of pros after hot stories…
Currently, conventions are a bit too dull. I tried to watch the RNC last night in a sense of sick fun. But a guy from Duck Dynasty was on…
So I’ll probably just wait for the “highlights.”
I’m pretty sure being forced to watch an entire US political convention would be some sort of Geneva Convention(!) violation.
With that said, I’ll maybe catch a bit here and there of MSNBC’s coverage, primarily for the amusement value. And because Nicolle Wallace is smokin’ hot, even if she is a Republican.
I haven’t watched one since Kefauver stormed out of the room in '52, the last time the convention had any remaining issues to resolve.
I swear Giuliani was two seconds away from screaming CAN YOU DIG IT!! at the camera.
Maybe, just for comic relief. I’ve listened to and read some excerpts, and rejoice yet again in being a Democrat.
Trumpeters, come out to play-y-ay!
