Your lunch today

There’s a church a few blocks from campus that has a free lunch for students every Friday. [homer]Mmmm, free food.[/homer] This week, it was chili.
EDIT: I’m jealous of Ponch8: You just can’t get Indian food in this town, unless you get invited to dinner by Indians. We do have a Diwali festival coming up, but it’s postponed a few weeks for some reason or another, and the tickets for it sold out in about five minutes last year.

I was fasting until after the sonogram appointment at 2:00, so I didn’t have lunch. I DID have a meal right after the procedure was over, though. Not sure what meal it was, but I had one.

I wasn’t even allowed to have any tea before the sonogram. Apparently I am now addicted to tea when I wake up, and can’t function without it.

The sonogram was to check my gall bladder. I’m not pregnant. I can’t be pregnant. I have no uterus or ovaries, so if I AM pregnant, it will be an act of God, and I’m an atheist!

You’d better be Canadian…

Me? A leftover chicken breast with Faygo Twist (which is surprisingly good) and a few Apple Newtons.

Oh, and Lynn, I hate fasting before tests at the doctor. When I know I’m not allowed to have it, I always want it more.

Lunch today was a black bean and lentil burger with caramelized onions and a sllice of muenster cheese on a toasted whole wheat bun, with a glass of iced tea and an iced sugar cookie for dessert.

Trader Joe’s Mac and Cheese washed down with a pear and some sparkling cider.

Lunch will be leftover home made pizza. I put tomato paste, salami, green & yellow peppers, mushrooms, black olives, feta & greek oregano on it.

I haven’t had mine yet and it’s almost 5:00. :frowning: When I get home I’ll have some chickpea stew with raisins and peppers and such over couscous.

Spinach, radishes, grape tomatoes, sweet bell peppers, hard boiled egg, and 1 tablespoon of FF blue cheese dressing.

Weekend lunches are always light, as I usually sleep in and will break it into a light lunch/early snack/early dinner combo.

We had leftovers from our massive annual BBQ (which was yesterday), so:

Top Dogs, chicken skewers, BBQ beans, potato salad, cucumber & onion salad, ambrosia salad, cole slaw, Pirate’s booty, green & red grapes, and pumpkin pie.

Followed shortly thereafter by a carb coma nap.

Pasta salad with peri-peri mayonnaise and portuguese grilled sliced chicken breast.

Chicken and waffles. Mmm. Well, a piece of chicken and a waffle. My mom got me this amazing waffle maker for my birthday and I hadn’t tried it out because during the week I refuse to budget 300 calories for a single food item. But it was a Sunday and I skipped breakfast so what the heck. It was good, but I’ll skip chicken and load it up with fresh berries next time.

Half order of sauerbraten with ginger snap gravy, braised red cabbage, and dilled potato pancakes with Fresca-thanks to a fine company cafeteria.

Oh, man, my mother used to make sauerbraten! She was not a good cook, but her sauerbraten was food of the gods!
I never learned to make it, since my husband and kid(s) won’t eat it. But damn, I miss it! She always made dumplings and mashed potatoes with hers (yeah, in retrospect, dumplings and mashed potatoes seems kind of redundant; but I loved it at the time!)

For me, today, well my 18YO daughter was visiting from out of town, and wanted to see our mall. So we had lunch at the mall’s Food Court. She got hot dogs and fresh-fried French fries from T&L Hot Dogs, a ubiquitous chain here in the mountains of WV. I had teriyaki chicken and stir-fried rice from a little Chinese place. The chicken was good, but the always seem to give you too much rice! I know they’re just trying to maximize profits by making the portions seem large, but I cannot eat that much rice! I doubt I ate a quarter of it (though I ate most of the chicken). I’d really have stopped her from putting so much rice on my plate, but of the two women working there, one seemed to have a very rudimentary understanding of the English language, while the other one seemed to have even less understanding. I probably would have been there, trying to convey to her that I wanted less rice, while she was busy heaping my plate high with it!

I had a can of red kidney beans mixed with a can of salmon and lots of Tabasco sauce.

I’m in South Korea these days and haven’t really acquired an appreciation of Korean food. And there isn’t much western food available in the supermarkets.

Not sure what to do today. I have a can of Campbell’s Chicken Corn Chowder that I am not in the mood for. Maybe take a walk and get 2 dogs loaded with chopped onion, ketchup, mustard and relish.

Or maybe get a fruit smoothie with bananas, strawberries and vanilla yogurt and save the soup for class tonight.

Decisions, decisions!

Haven’t eaten lunch yet, but will be homemade vegetable beef stew. Beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, green beans, and corn. With either a biscuit or some whole wheat toast on the side, and apple cider to wash it down.

I made “Chili” last night…specifically to have for lunch today and then freeze. It’s more like a 3 bean soup with a boatload of chili powder and a few chipotle peppers. It’s phenomenal.

Baked potato soup with a big chunk of bakery “white mountain” bread.
