So Curtis is Black Bauer and Chloe is Hack Bauer. IMO, as the only other crucial members of Team 24, they’re the only ones that truly merit having Jack-esque nicknames. (Aaron Pierce could possibly deserve this as well, should he ever get transferred to CTU.)
However, I suppose that we could call the new psychochick Shari “Whacked Bauer.” I have nickname in mind for daughter Kim as well, but I don’t dare voice it in polite company.
Chloe’s response to “Did you see him brush my shoulder? That was so inappropriate!” was pricesless. She turned back to her monitor, eyes wide, like, “okayyyyyyy…”
Alright, so I have watched 24 since season one faithfully and have always enjoyed reading these threads which point out the unbelievable parts of the show and so on. However, this season’s endless wank fest of heart felt moments has been too much to take. I thought it might just be me until…
Last night my wife starts screaming at the TV for more violence! She didn’t enjoy Jack lovin’ on Audrey, or Audrey’s reaction to Jack getting tazered. This is a woman that cries during Hallmark commericals, so it’s not that she’s insensitive. She just wants 24 to get on with 24 stuff, instead of turning into General Hospital with extra violence.
The problem with 24 now is that it goes overboard in EVERY aspect of the show. It used to be just the fact that Jack could not be killed. We are at the point now where he also has superhuman strength, recovery ability, and speed. He stops to take care of little girls who might die of poisoning in a heroic manner…blech.
Unfortunately the only attraction left in this show is the joy of making fun of it.
Not only that, but the hotel desk clerk had already emailed back copies of receipts of their stay in less than 2 minutes.
I think the producers are focusing too much attention on Jack Bauer. They need to concentrate more on Chloe who can clearly manipulate time to suit her needs. In fact, I think the two of them should team up and form a Super Hero Super Duo (Jack and Hack!)
OK, so they release the nerve gas into the natural gas system, but how is this supposed to kill 200,00 people exactly?
I am not digging the this psycho chick storyline. It just seems like they have to pile on complication after complication and it gets a bit tiresome.
Love the little psi gauge at the bottom of Chloe’s computer. She seems very adept at monitoring dropping percentages in things (gas pressure, rubber seals).
Seriously! 24 used to be a good show that made us be quiet and not yell derisive comments at the screen. Not anymore!
I’m with your wife on all of that. I’m a woman; I’ve also cried during Hallmark commercials, and I love kittens. But damn, this show is supposed to be about kicking ass and blowing stuff up and I can’t care about any of the Jack-and-Audrey stuff because she annoys the crap out of me. Blowing up an entire natural gas plant doesn’t make up for the pianos and violins intruding on my good time. Blech.
I expect another twist where the gas attacks were just a diversion. Maybe there is a coup being orchestrated-- not that getting rid of President Wishy-washy would be all that bad. I just think we haven’t gotten to the bottom of the folks infiltrated the executive branch yet.
For you. Not for me. If you dislike it so much, why watch it at all?
I enjoy it. I don’t require realism from an action thriller series any more than I’d require it from a Dirk Pitt novel.
I was starting to think that torture guy was another CTU mole – Henderson bolts seconds after torture guy declared that “his central nervous system is fried”, and he was awfully eager to start torturing Audrey. I’m less sure now, but still suspicious.
And the Homeland guy makes every prior CTU boss look like Mr. Rodgers!
That’s actually a very good question. Because if incinerating the nerve gas destroys it, isn’t that what happens in every home? It’s not like people are huffing the stuff. Granted, a few people are really going to regret letting their pilot lights go out…
Totally weak having Psycho-operative-girl say “I took chemistry. They have to reduce the pressure.” Because every chemistry class covers the behavior of exotic nerve gases under pressure. They could have had her say “I’ve studied the data sheet on Sentox and…” and it would have been believable. Bad writing.
So, Colette is apparently an idiot. Her immunity is contingent on her being absolutely truthful. She knows that and she knows that they’re going to verify her claims. If she * doesn’t * get immunity, then she’s implicated in the insertion of deadly nerve gas into a natural gas plant, which means she fries. Yet she plays along with Henderson’s game and implicates Audrey, even though there’s no upside for her.
I can’t disagree more. This has been the tightest, most realistic (at least character wise, I don’t pay too much attention to physics and chemistry during the show) season so far. I used to switch stations whenever Sherri (Palmer’s wife) was on the screen. Blowing up a plane in season 1 to get press credentials to be used in season 2 (correct me if I’m wrong)? That’s ridiculous. So far, my only real complaint was when Edgar’s replacement complained about Buchannan’s shoulder touch. Though, it was really funny. Oh, and the hobbit’s crack addict sister was ridiculous, too.
I also got a chuckle out of “Sexual Harassment Girl”. Just from her arrival. I said to myself, “Well, there’s another recruit from the CTU School of Hacking and Supermodeling”.
I mean, Edgar was not only a fluke, he was a hell of a fluke. It’s like he was their token fat, ugly computer nerd so CTU could go ahead and keep hiring models…
I like it – and every time the clock shows during the episode, it could be stuck on 2:00:00. Of course, this should happen during Season 25.
Are you thinking Stacked Bauer? or something else?
Well, I don’t think they’ll be “just a diversion”. I think it’s just going to be different groups of baddies who have different aims. Like in Season 2 – Sayed Ali and his gang were primarily interested in blowing up L.A. with a nuke. They didn’t realize that they were being used by other interests to start a war, and Ali didn’t realize evidence had been planted to make it look like several countries had backed him. He was just operating on a lower level for his own terrorist group.
The gas attacks have been done by the Russian terrorists. Presumably, Bierko is the highest up of those guys, and if the nerve gas threat is now ended, then things will apparently be moving in the Henderson direction. Apparently the Wayne Palmer plot thread is starting up the next series of events – he knows something. Sort of like “the 7th commando” from Season 2 – started up a new plot thread, for “Act 2” of that season.
(Of course, “Act 1” was the stronger plot-line from Season 2 – and still some of my most favorite “24” ever).
I suspect that the rest will involve more conspiracy in the government, involving Henderson, probably the Vice Prez, and probably other higher-ups. But it would seem that the show can’t just focus on rounding up the rest of the bad guys. There would have to be something that makes it a time crunch, or else they could just spend the next several days uncovering the Perpe-Traitors. There would need to be another imminent threat of some sort, to keep the “24” style urgency.
