A Tad Late, but Still the MMP....

HazelNut! --do you have snow?! I awoke to the prettiest view outside my window! We have snow, folks! Like it’s really winter out there and everything–I can hardly wait to get out in it. Yay!

That said, I like the paint in the LR a bit better with the pictures back up. But in some lights–it looks pink-ish. Ugh. Oh well-I’m not about to repaint it now.
Sorry about the pooch–maybe it’s just an adjustment problem?

Rosie --you have heat, right? If not, start baking up a storm. Unless the source for both is the same source…hm…
Ok, MBG --I hear ya. GO BEARS! (I can’t decide who I want to win–the Bears need a victory, but those Saints have been thru hell and back…)

Break from paper-shuffling. It’s snowing. We’v got a dusting so far - the paved surfaces are wet, and the rest of the ground is white-ish. The flakes are tiny and plentiful. From the looks of weather radar, we’re in the thick of the blue band, with the pink line (snow/rain mix) is well to the south. The official forecast says 1-3 inches of snow with a possible .1-.2 inch crust of ice overnight. The snow doesn’t concern me. The ice is the work of the devil. Unless we get to go to work late - then it’s a good thing.

Back to shuffling. This is taking way longer than I’d expected…

Not snowing here yet, FCM. I’d like some snow.

I’m with you, LiLi. If you intend to get married, then you’re engaged. (There is such a thing as a long engagement…) Silly QD. (She’s going to start running around yelling at me, I can already tell.)

We’re only supposed to have about 2 inches of snow, but we have about 3 already. It’s pretty much stopped and they’re threatening us with freezing rain, but I’m hoping against hope that it won’t do that.

It looks really pretty and the driving wasn’t too bad. Everyone was going really slow, since the bulk of it fell between 9 and 12 and there wasn’t really time for the streets to be cleaned before people were out and about. Also, this is the first real snow we’ve had all year, so people probably feel like they’ve forgotten how to drive in the stuff.

I’ve been to work to get reading stuff and have put the next load in the washer. Now it’s time to buckle down and READ. Woo hoo. It’s going to be an exciting afternoon chez GT; I can feel it already.

GT

Gee, **BibKitty ** - according to Intellicast’s radar, you’re in the blue area, too…

It’s falling less thickly - there might be half an inch on the lawn, but the pavement is just wet, even at 29 degrees.

First round of paper-shuffling done - much has been tossed or recycled. Now I have to sort for filing. Third load of laundry is in the washer. I may not get to chili-making today. Especially if I keep surfing the Dope… :o

I just went to the gym; there were a few flakes falling when I left the house, and by the time I came home there’s enough to kinda sorta barely coat the edges of grassy areas, but pavement is all clear. The car was lightly coated, but it wiped right off. We’ll see if we get much more.

Of course, Papa Tigs took the dogs out for a walk while I was at the gym, and when they got home Isaac, who’s the smarter of the two (not that that’s hard), shook himself carefully, twice, out on the porch. Dear Rusty the rocket scientist, of course, ran in the house, planted himself in the center of the living room, and shook as hard as he could.

I just hope it’s not icy at 5:00 a.m. when Papa Tigs leaves for work. It’s not that he doesn’t know how to drive in any and all weather – considering he grew up 80 miles south of Canada in Minnesota, he’s had more winter driving experience than most Merrylanders put together – but the idiots out on Route 50 either refuse to slow down from their normal early-morning 85 mph, or slow down to 3 mph, neither of which is exactly bright.

Just took the critters out for their afternoon pee and poo. Poor Scruffy was co-o-o-o-o-old - we need to put her sweater back on. It’s starting to stick on the road, which means when the temps plummet tonight, driving will be an adventure. I need to look up my work announcement phone number so I can call first thing. If we get a delayed open, I wanna know right away!

Back to the papers. Everything is sorted into the appropriate piles. Now I need to put each pile in order. Except the medical stuff pile - there’s way too much and I’m not gonna do it. Maybe another day…

Now quit distracting me - I have work to do!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s snowing now. Coming down pretty good.
Yay!

Happy Sunday everyone! We don’t have any snow, it’s been lovely and sunny over the weekend and that’s just as well because I’ve been off on a hen weekend in Whitminster which included a lovely day out in Bath and a trip to the Thermae Spa.

It was nice to get home though, I was very tired…something to do with the amount of champagne we drank last night, and the fact that I wasn’t in bed until 5am and then got up at 9am for morning tea and a chat with a friend. Oh, and I had to round up my passengers and drive home too.

LiLi - tell QD she’s got to say yes to DH otherwise someone else will snaffle him and she’ll have all of us to answer to! It’ll have to be a long engagement though, I’ve got several other hen weekends and stuff to organise, I can’t fit her in before at least 2009.

Howdy y’all! Looks like several productive Sundays have been had. So, I’ll come in with my unproductive Sunday to even things out a bit. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have done… well, next to nothing. I went to church, followed by another trip to the new building to ooh and aah over the kitchen, wherein I vowed that pancakes and sausages would be cooked on Shrove Tuesday. Everybody knows that pancakes and sausages for supper are a Shrove Tuesday must, after all. We will be in the building in three weeks. Our first service should be February 11th. YAY! Our Bishop will be here on Saturday, March 3rd for the official consecration/dedication, which will be a little weird, since that will be a celebration (feast) and it’s during Lent but, hey, we gotta celebrate. OOH! And I’ve begun plans for our St. Patrick’s celebration (for those of you who still don’t understand the importance of keeping up with the minutiae of my life, my church is St. Patrick’s Episcopal). Hee, I’ve begun plans. Like I’m the one who has the say so. Well, dangit, I’m ready to cook in that purty, shiny commercial kitchen. Plus, I’m gay, so I’m allowed to make pronouncements. They should know that, right?

Lunch at the golf club was f-aaaaaa-bu-lous! I could not believe the amount and kinds of food on that buffet. Well worth the $8.95 price. MMMMMMMM… that shall henceforth be a stop on the list of places on the Sunday lunch rotation. We went at 11:15 this morning and when we left outta there a little after twelve, folks were literally lining up almost out the door. It’s gonna be tough to go from a nine A.M. service to a ten thirty service in the new building. We’ll have to start fighting the Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Catholics and other Episcopalians for who gets to lunch first again.

Other than that, today I’ve had a nap and read the paper. It’s raining and will rain all night and all day tomorrow. That’s winter here. We need it, so I ain’t complaining. Besides I got soup and cornbread for lunch tomorrow so I’ll be happy.

Once again, no big stories from fire school. One of the regular aerial guys busted his head open on an equipment door when shutting down from a demonstration. Now we call him Bullseye.

We did have an occurence after class. We were at the station cleaning up from lunch today, and some guy pulls up out front and runs in. “Is there an EMT here? My fiance is having a baby!”

Duh. We’re a fire station, not rescue. Emily, one of our people, delivered her little brother, and one time I delivered a calf. Other than that, I’m one of 2 fathers present, and the rest are single or newlywed young bucks who know absolutely 0 about babies. Emily felt the mama’s belly and said the kid wasn’t going to pop in the next hour. The kid is their first, and the problem was mostly Dad panicing.

The EMS station is paged, and soon we’re awash in medical responders. Last thing I heard about it was when the ambunce crew checked in from the hospital. We know they got there; here’s to hoping the rugrat get a 10 on his/her APGAR.

Oh, the ambulance is now back from the run.

Yeah, we got snow! Just enough to make everything look purty. I went out for brunch with my brother and we had a lovely walk. If only the weather would stay like this for the next two months…

I broke my wireless mouse (they really, really don’t like to be dropped), so I bought a trackball instead. I’m hoping that since it’s supposed to be stationary, I won’t drop it so often. What is extremely annoying is how difficult it is to find a left handed mouse. The ones with all the bells and whistles are strictly right handed. Grrr. Even the ones that are supposed to be either/or usually aren’t.

I also bought cat food. I upgraded to Nutro from Iams, since there is less hornking with Nutro. It’s more expensive, but I think they eat less of it, plus less hornking means less waste. I’m not sure that there’s a real difference between adult and senior blends anyway, but since the price is the same, why not? Also, there’s a brand that has kitten - up to 12 months, adult - 12 months to 6 years, senior - 7 years to 11 years. And then what? If you feed your cat that brand, they drop dead on their 12th birthday?

I have completed Part 1 of not FABULOUSLY INTERESTING WORK-RELATED READING.

Then I emptied the drier, transferred washed stuff into it and threw the next load in the washer.

Now it’s off to Part 2.

Envy me.

GT

I’ve been sitting here staring at my computer and eating white chocolate M&Ms instead of working. Can someone please give me a swift kick in the ass and tell me to get it in gear? This transcript won’t just produce itself!

Stupid question (my Asian geography is non-existant)–does it snow in Korea? I mean, outside the mountains? (are there mountains?). The only Korea I know is southern California Korea aka MAS*H.

I am off for a twilight walk in the snow–yea! love it. And it’s warm, too–it’s perfect out there.
Re the 12 y/o cat dying–we can only hope…(can you tell my feline is getting on my nerves?).

MT --GET OFF YOUR ASS AND DO THAT TRANSCRIPTION. HOW ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO PAY THOSE BILLS?

Is that enough? I’m not so good at Nazi officer stuff. I’m better at guilt.

White chocolate M&Ms, mmm…

Korea is very hilly, and there’s nowhere you can’t turn without seeing a mountain (we are a very small country as well). Most of the country sees snow at least a couple times every winter, with the odd blizzard every now and then. I think climate-wise we’d be similar to Virginia.

Agh. I’m going to start doing my reading now, I swear.

Sigh [del]twists off cap[/del] takes another dose of nerve tonic. Tigs, young lady, do you think that work is just going to do itself while you sit here fritterin’ away your time? Do you? Well, it’s not! So get in there and get working on that transcript and I mean now! Don’t you stomp your foot at me, young lady! There will be no more white chocolate M&Ms until you finish your work. I mean it! I saw that! You want your face to freeze up like that? Now, get in there and not another word until you’re through. Go! I said GO and I mean now! Younguns! Now, where’s that nerve tonic…

Almost done with Part 2 (I cheated and stopped halfway through the REALLY BORRRRRRRING PART, read through all the appendices and am about to go back for round 2 of REALLY BORRRRRRRING).

But, I had to take a dinner break, including further changing of the laundry.

Back to [del]torture[/del] reading.

Oh…and Mama T, should you be working? :stuck_out_tongue:

GT

Ixnay on the white choc M & M’s.

I am back from a very refreshing walk outdoors. I had an SUV slow down and sort of look at me–which I don’t appreciate. The car turned into a driveway in front of me and I thought, uh-oh-and me with no cell phone etc. A voice called my name–it turns out to be a guy I went to grade school with. It was so nice to see him again. The driveway was his brother’s house. We got caught up a bit. He was sooo cute in 6th grade–I cannot tell you. Curly brown, thick hair, blue eyes and nice features. Yum.

Anyway, it gave me a lift.
of to do more housework.
