Another lazy day here. I might actually leave the house today. Or not. It’s a beautiful day out there, I really should at get out and go for a walk. Or go to the Maul, or at least Target. [sub]I’m almost out of toilet paper.[/sub] I also need to deposit a whopping $9.60 refund check at the bank. Wells Fargo has the envelope-free deposits in ATMs now, which is kind of cool, but you have to deposit checks and cash separately. That isn’t so cool. I don’t like having to make 2 deposits in the same visit. It really annoys the people in line behind you, too. And I want to get some more bed sheets. The ones I have are not for a pillowtop mattress, and they keep sliding off on the corners.
Attention, Winter: Please go back to where you belong. Your fans miss you. Don’t even *think * about coming here from the PNW. Thank you.
Hoo-wee. I’ve been one busy tract of brain matter today. All this winter weather is good for business but it definitely makes the the phones warm up. Less time for Dope, but it helps makes the day seem to pass more quickly – just 20 more minutes and I’m out the door and likely flat on my ass unless they’ve plowed the way.
I like that one too, as you can see - I use it frequently.
One thing I learned with this batch - dipping is better than brushing when it comes to applying an even coat of glaze. So I need to get several pails or big bowls so I can do dip glazing next time.
**SCL ** - my daughter glazed the kitty and I think she did a pretty good job. Except she only did it because I said she could have it, so I need to box it up and send it her way.
**FCD ** just finished cleaning the gutters, and I stood by, chatting with him and bracing myself to run for the phone to dial 9-1-1 if he fell. But he didn’t, so that’s good. And since it’s probably the last warm day for a while, he got in just under the winter wire.
We’re not expecting snow, but we are expecting lows to plummet to the 20s over the next couple of nights. That will displease the daffodil next to the house which is about 6" tall right now. Poor daffy!!
Time to make dinner. And feed the critters. And mourn the end of my long weekend - at least it’s followed by a short week… <sigh>
Yeah, the stuff attempting to bloom is the only thing that worries me about not having any really cold weather yet. Other than that, I’m happy with our so far warm Winter. Then again, I’m a warm weather fan big time. I hate being cold. Now that I’ve put that in writing we’ll probably have an ice storm. They do happen here on rare occasions. I may have brought down the wrath of the ice God!
Ok, folks will be arriving in about an hour. I’ll pop the company N.O.T. in the oven about five-thirty. They need about an hour to heat through and get all cheesy goody and stuff. The biscuits will take about fifteen minutes in the convection oven. I’ll also light the grill after I put the N.O.T. (it just does not get old does it!) in the oven so I can grill the burly butcher sausages. MMM… burly butcher sausage… mmmm… oh, sorry, lost my train of thought. I’ve got spicy and regular mustard for sausage dipping as well as chips and salsa for munchin’. I’m such a good host! ACBG is on his way over to, as he so nicely put it, see if I need any help or watch me flip out like I sometimes do when company’s comin’. I think he’s due for some retraining. He’s gettin’ mighty big for his britches lately.
I have a feeling that Swampy is not going to be happy to have that distinction taken away from him.
A bit of a drive by as I am working from ‘home’ today and need to get the rest of this documentation finished within the hour. This weekend was really quite hectic for me. Lots of social happening and goings on, lots of worry, and lots of hassle. Good news is that my intership has finally been approved and setup as long as I can pay for it by Friday (which I can), bad news is… well discretion prevents me from telling you, but good thoughts/prayers/hugs for Meli will be greatly appriciated.
I would gladly give you all the snow we have here rigs, it is mostly slush and ice but you can have all you want. With my car heater not working the long drives I face are becoming less and less pleasent everyday of this weather.
:: Tupug runs into the MMP huffing and puffing and all apologetic like ::
Sorry I’m so late folks. I was doing…stuff. Jokes are always good, rigs. You can never go wrong there. Ask spats.
fcm, those are some fantastic pieces! I agree with the bear about the bunny one!
ali, good thoughts going out to meli. We can’t have our newest MMPer having trouble now can we?
Dad is now on 24 hour hospice crisis watch. Basically that means he’s not long for this world. He’s got an amazing heart, though. It keeps right on ticking. He’s very far away mentally which is probably for the best but hard on us. My son is very upset about it. He came by to have a long talk yesterday. I think I helped him a bit.
I’m about to go cook some poke chops and I dunnowhats with them. Oh, and it’s 6:00 PM so time for some nerve tonic.
Ya know what I was thinking over the weekend? It’s been a reeeeally long time since there’s been a good zit-popping thread around here. When I first joined, someone was always popping something or going to the doctor to have something lanced. Being an long time zit popper myself, I really enjoyed those threads and I’m kinda sad that I haven’t seen one lately. Unfortunately, I don’t have any good stories to share so I really can’t start a thread, but if anyone reading this has a story, please start a thread about it for those of us who enjoy the disgusting horror of it all.
Anyway, that aside, you’re in our thoughts and prayers, **puggy ** as is your whole family. And good thoughts for **meli ** too.
Good thoughts and prayers going out to meli, of course. (She knows this is one of our superpowers, right?) Congrats on the internship working out. How does this fit in with the current job and grad school plans?
Forgot earlier: Drae, you get off that couch, young lady, and start applying for a job!
Spats, shouldn’t you be working on homework instead of puns?
Still sending strong vibes and prayers and hugs in the direction of the Anachi family. Please keep us updated. You’re having to take care of kids, and Mr. Anachi, and sisters and mom (how’s she doing? - I’m almost afraid to ask) and your dad…don’t forget to take care of yourself.
I just finished off a real dinner. Cheated on the fish part (got a pre-made frozen stuffed salmon from Trader Joe’s), but made rice and peas on the side and then poached some frozen peaches in wine with dried cranberries and spices (yum - works well to do this in the microwave on defrost while other stuff is going on). Ate nice and slowly (I’m still finishing the peaches, actually).
Continuing on the quest for a cleaned-up abode.
Boy…this weekend just flew by! But I’ve had a nice time.
Hey! We have real snow! I am so excited. Seriously, my mood lightened and I feel happy for the first time in days. Who knew I was such a weathercock (no snerks from the peanut gallery).
I made bacon and pancakes for dinner. The bacon was awful-unfortunately I threw away the package before I tasted it, but I know it was a house brand. Note to self: do not buy that any more. Pugs --please know that we are all thinking of you. I hope his end is peaceful.
**Puggy **& family, you all are in my prayers, I hope you have some peace soon.
rigs. Listen you. I have a beef with you and MN, you’re only lucky this is falling a non-school day young lady. :: stern look ::
I vamoosed from work just before 3. The temperature in my office was 54 degrees at that point. Went to the gym, made myself sweat a bit, came home, made some salmon and asparagus fer din-din, lit a fire in the fireplace and am now bound and determined to NOT sweep rigs’s damn snow off my driveway.
My minor rant of the day? January in the healthclub. Damned new years ‘resolutions’. It’s a good thing I was there at 3 something, because when I left at 5 something, it was packed. I made a joke about it to Erica, the Cute Little Personal Trainer - she said, “eh, relax, come March, they’ll all be gone, and still locked into their 12 month contract…”
I just had 2 hours of Oldtimer’s Disease terror. I lost my car keys they were on my desk the whole time, in a clutter pile I moved 3 times while looking… :smack:
More hugs for Puggy and Meli and anyone else requiring one…
My poor hubby called at 6:15 and was just headed back to the yard at 6:00 pm from freakin’ Beaumont! He won’t get home until almost 9:00 I think. I’ve still got the soup on the back burner for him. It was tres yummy!
My son called from his first day on the job to ask for a ride home. I didn’t mind - 5 miles on a bike in this weather? I’ll also give him a ride to work tomorrow. I bribed him (with hot soup!) into helping me cover the plants so Tom won’t have to, since he’s so late.
