Howdy Y’all! It’s the weekstart! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
I came home and had a nap just cause. The supper fairy is not very helpful here either. Don’t wanna make anything. Don’t wanna go anywhere. What to do, what to do! Course it ain’t like either of us is facin’ starvation. Hmmmm… it’s kinda cool out, so maybe some waffles and burly butcher bacon. A brekkie dindin just might hit the spot.
Bad Chinese made supper. I’m exhausted and want to go to bed, but I’ll stay away at least till sunset. Tomorrow, I’ll do laundry and daughter and I will take the dogs to the groomer, then do our grocery shopping. Fun, huh?
Yeah–Down With Love is it. Stupid, mindless movie, but great sets and costumes.
LiLi–you just do it. You will adjust soon enough. I will give you ONE piece of advice: never use the baby as an excuse for something you can’t do for Older Sib. IOW, don’t say stuff like, “I can’t come right now, I’m feeding the baby” or “I can’t do X, I’m holding the baby.” IMO, this creates resentment (Baby is keeping you from helping/being with Older Sib).
I used to say (instead of “I’m holding the baby”), “My hands are full right now.” But I also used nursing time to read aloud to Older Sib and used Baby nap time for story time or craft time etc. (of course, there were plenty of days where nap time was Bumps on a Log time for Mommy and Older Sibs…).
I found the Older Sibs to be really great helpers and wonderful with Baby… right up until Baby crawled. Then things got a bit dicier, but also by then, Older Sib has forgotten what not having Baby around was like (this of course varies with the Older Sib!).
Good luck. You’ll be fine. One day at a time. I’d get recovered from the C-secxn first, then worry about managing 2.
And now, having bought 2 chairs (for the library), dropped off the map to be dry mounted (for the library) and gone to the (public) library, I need to forage for food. Please remind me to buy Kleenex. Thanks.
Back from garden lecture extravaganza. It was awesome!!! Really good presenters and interesting topics. Even the one that we thought wouldn’t be all that interesting (about square-foot gardening) was fun and informative.
Worked in the garden for a bit and then went for a walk.
Now I’m really tired and am contemplating knitting and watching movies just like mmmmmmmmmmmm. (I recommend the actual Doris Day movies, by the way. Pillow Talk, for instance, is really fun.)
Dindin went from waffles and burly butcher bacon to scrambled aigs with cheese, grits, burly buthcer smoked center cut ham slices and toast. See, I forgot to take bacon out of the freezer the other day when I went specifically to get bacon out of the freezer but instead got ice cream out of the freezer. Ok, explanation. I got ice cream out of one of the big freezers to put in the refridgeidairator in the kitchen. I was supposed to get bacon out but the ice cream distracted me. Thus, no burly butcher bacon in unfrozen state. So OYKW went to the burly butcher sto’ to get some bacon and spied a nice package containing two big slices of smoked center cut ham. He called me to tell me that made him jones for some ham and aigs. Thus, brekkie dindin turned into that instead. Still all good.
How was that for some breathtakin’ minutiae of my life?
Oh and he bought a twelve pack of Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus beer cause he thought it sounded good. He’s right. He got a gold ***** for impulse buyin’.
Hmm. Can you say, “Just a moment, sweetie”? There’s been a lot of “Mommy can’t get down on the floor and play, but I can read you a book” or “Come for a snuggle”, or “Play Hide and Seek” in the last month, because of bed rest, and Gnat’s been pretty okay with it. So I’m hoping distraction/helpful Big Boy stuff/things I can do from the couch as I’m nursing will help.
So far kidlet 2.0 has been miles easier than Gnat. He’s sleeping more (so far) and doesn’t mind being put down (Gnat would scream bloody murder). I’m hopeful.
Works for me. And of course I didn’t mean to sound like a mothering Nazi–you MUST not do X etc. Do what feels right, but if “feels right” starts to mean, hung by his toes, you might want to dial it down a bit…
I remembered the Kleenex, but forgot crackers. No, I’m not going back. #2 son is back from a birthday party; TH is asleep and #1 son says he is staying the night at a friend’s house. I have no real reason to doubt his word, but this whole cell phone thing has made it impossible to really know where your teenager is. Then again, there was nothing to stop them from merely calling from said friend’s house and then going somewhere else etc, so I guess I’ll just take his word for it.
I would really prefer it if he only hung out with his girlfriend. At least then I would know he was having sex and not (possibly) drinking or whatever. No idea why I’m so suspicious of #1 son tonight; he’s never really given me any reason to be so. But still, my Mom radar is dinging.
What to do with my evening? I vacuumed, did laundry and cleaned the kitchen. I made pan cookies, finished all my errands and put away the groceries. Guess I’ll tackle world peace now. I’ve been meaning to get to it; it’s been on my list for some time now.
Link to my flat iron thread in IMHO in case y’all have any advice. And my obligatory joke which at least TVMan thought was funny… Is it ok for a person with large boobs to use a flat iron? :dubious:
That’s all folks! I think it’s almost bedtime here.
rigs there will be no tacklin’ of world peace as long as there are crackers still to be bought. Understand me young lady! :dubious:
I am proud to announce that I have accepted the nomination to play the centurion during tomorrow’s Passion Gospel. I was the second choice. The first choice, OYKW, declined cause the idea of sayin’ sump’n outloud durin’ church makes him all . He has a great voice and IMO would be great as a Lector but the thought of even doin’ so just wigs him out sump’n fierce. Thus, I do not push the issue. Still, I think it kinda pumped him up a bit to even be asked. This all occured about an hour ago via a phone call from YP who is workin’ up this last minute presentation. Apparently some sort of Holy Muse struck him.
BTW, Michelobe cactus lime flavored beer is like a really good carbonated lemonade, even though it sounds like it’s a chick beer (no offense Mumper ladies). Gotta admit, though, the stuff does taste good.
OK, fortunately I woke up from my nap early enough not to interfere with beddy bye time which is now. Ok, not exactly beddy bye yet cause OYKW appears to have other plans first.
I went to bed and now I’m back up because of a headache. Meanwhile TVMan is snoozing away. In awhile I guess I’ll try to tiptoe back up there but until then maybe I’ll watch a movie or something.
tiptoes inlooks around to check for Mods I really do need to stop using the Dope for homework…
Any of y’all has a Mac and can help me with one question? It will require trying to install a program. It shouldn’t make the Mac arseplode or anything, but if it does I’ll want pics and pay for a new Mac…
Spent the weekend off-line, again.
I think I’m beginning to sense a pattern here…
Obviously, did not read everything; hugs and gropes to those who need/want them; rest of y’all will muddle by without help
Moved our clocks forward, and now we are back in sync with the rest of the civilized world.
… OK, the “civilised” world, too (You know who you are! :p)
**Nava **-- I’m willing to help with one question, alas, this one has no Mac.
I do have some lovely cheese I got when I commuted to Holland two weeks ago, though! We could make some Mac and Cheese, together!
Our clocks went forward in the middle of the night so now it’s officially summer time here! I had an uneventful night, cooked some yummerific sweet chilli chicken and watched two films (Moon, and District 9). Both were good but Moon was a bit too long for my liking, you could have cut out at least half an hour because so little happened. And I’d worked out the plot and the ending inside the first 40mins so it was a bit disappointing.
Today I am up, but 'im indoors isn’t so I’m looking for quiet things to do until he’s awake. My friend’s coming round later to help me deliver some leaflets and that’s about all I have planned for the day. I might do a bit of ironing, and when he finally hauls himself out of the pit, I should be able to change the bedding and get that in the wash. How much more excitement can I get in one day?
I know it’s early and all, but I can’t wrap my head around how beer flavored with lime can taste like lemonade…
I ache. My butt aches. The backs of my legs ache. The fronts of my legs ache. My back aches. My fingers ache. It’s a good thing the deck is done because there’s no way I could do any heavy work today. Oh, and *someone *fell off his ladder yesterday and refuses to tell me any details. I swear… grrrrrr
Dogs have an appointment at 10 with the groomer, after which daughter and I will do the grocery thing. I also have some stuff to return to Lowe’s - we overbought some items - maybe $100 worth, so roughly 5% of what we spent. Not too terrible, I think.
If the rain holds off, I’ll take some pics of the deck later today. I was hoping to transplant some azaleas, but there’s no way. Not today. Maybe later in the week. But I do have to do laundry - 2 or 3 loads left, I think.
I had some tylenol for breakfast - let’s see how well it works. <whine whimper whine>
Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Must go purtify for churchification and Centurion duty in a bit.
MOOOOOOM the label on the bottles say flavored with lime and cactus. Maybe cactus makes lime taste like lemon. It just tasted more lemony than limey to me. Good though. Oh and I can’t wait to see the deck. When’s the hot tub goin’ in?
Sweet chili sauce is just wrong! Just sayin’.
Ok, cleanup time must commence. We’re goin’ to MickeyD’s for a bizkit on the way to deheathenization. A Centurion must keep his strength up after all!
