Yuck. Crap song, but I think LaKisha sang it well. I liked seeing a more smoky side of her.
Randy, naw man. Don’t encourage her to add runs to every song.

I missed Lakisha. Had to chase a kid around. I heard Simon call her old.
I’m behind because we TiVo’d, but why is Stephanie doing the achy-breaky singing style on Dusty Springfield? I hate that fakey voice breaking stuff. Gak.
Don’t like LaKisha’s song – Lulu was dead to rights, there – but Lawd a’mighty, LaKisha looks eleventy kinds of faaaaaaaaabulous. That dress is great. (And I’m not just saying that because I have it in red and black and I got lots of free drinks at the company Christmas party because of it.)
Interesting fun song.
When I hear “Tobacco Road,” I can’t help thinking of the David Lee Roth version with Steve Vai on the guitar.
I don’t like this, but I have a personal aversion to Stacey that clouds my judgement.
I will say that it’s an easy song to sing and really a pretty safe choice.
I finally decided what Phil reminds me of.
He looks like the head that cracks and steams in the You Don’t Know Jack computer game.
crickets??
Is … what the … Phil … is he trying to be Bo, or Chris Daughtry, or something? He looks like a tool. Not that he doesn’t always, but it’s especially bad tonight. This is the best he could come up with?
LilyoftheValley: Correct! That is who he looks like. That, or a giant naked Q-tip.
“Bar band” is a perfect description. I’ve heard a million covers like that. Nothing special. I’ve sung that song in bars myself and sang about as well.
Blake has such an interesting reggae-ish sound.
Light Bulb! POW escapee! Nosferatu!
That wasn’t a bad performance, though.
I’m talking about Phil here.
Lakisha: Ooh! I love that song, I love that dress, I love her finally acting like a vamp! Fie on the judges for saying she sounded old! Fie!
Phil: Eh, nice try. He sounded like he was making an effort to expand his range, but Simon’s right on this one, he just didn’t sound credible.
On edit: “Yes! We have Nosferatu! We have Noferatu today!”
It’s a good song. I like the beginning better than the end, but it is still a good song, and I like her dress…
LaKisha did a nice job with the song, but it was not the right song. It’s such a shallow, impersonal song. It’s not a bad song, but it’s not more than a theme song, to me.
Edited to add: How many song times can I song say the word song?
Oh, WOW. Jordin just blew me away.
ETA: My husband commented that she looks incredible, and I must agree.
Jordin, damn. That was good stuff. I can’t believe she’s 17.
Is Simon really complaining about a sad song making him feel gloomy? Isn’t that the point?
Jordin was good. I don’t think she’s ever been bad.
Uh oh. Sandy Baby is next.
Hmm … Is Jordin human? There is something very strange and preternatural about her, like she wants to reach through my television and gnaw on my soul. Is it because she’s like 11 feet tall? She did a good job, but … that song was so sad. There really is an air of garment-rending about that song.
Damn, Jordin knocked that one out of the park! Amazing performance, especially for a 17-year-old.
That was damn good! The thing Simon would have said if he could express himself better was that she made you feel the emotions of that song. None of this stupid smiling during sad songs, she was definitely in it. Very impressive.
