American Idol Mar 20/21

I thought Gina was good. And did she get a haircut or something? I really liked her hair. She should’ve gone with pointier boots, though.

Gina lost any “cool” or “tough” she had going in that song with the cheesy last line. Sounded like Paint It Black, the uplifting musical.

Hey Karl, can you include the performer’s name in your comments? We just had a big thing about that a couple of weeks ago - otherwise it’s hard for people reading the comments after the fact to figure out what you’re talking about. Thanks!

I wasn’t that happy with Gina’s vocal, but I liked the performance. And it’s the only Stones song that I like, so I’m happy with that.

Those are 3 if not 4 inch heels. I’d guess 4 because they look like what I wear. Definitely not 2.

This has been your totally off topic comment for the evening.

Chris S is boring me. He should have done Henry the Eighth.

Blah. Sligh.

He did NOT feel the song, even though he seemed to agree with that advice. Isn’t that supposed to be an anguished song? It didn’t have an ounce of frustration.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Sligh is a fraud in a bad wig. He’s really not that good – certainly not good enough to support his lippiness, I don’t think. What happened to the boy who wanted to make David Hasselhoff cry? It’s like he got to Hollywood and now he believes his own hype. And the lisp bugs the crap out of me.

Ah, thanks! I’ll try to do it later, then (as long as I get the names right, haven’t been watching much this season).

I missed who this Lulu and the other guy were. Sorry for not having been alive in the 60s but I just don’t recognize them? And I’m too lazy to rewind and look. (My favorite music started in the 70s.)

Chris R. bores me to tears. Beyond tears. Like, wailing. This is awful. I don’t care that his voice sounds ok, it’s BORING. I feel like I’m in a hotel lobby. Plus he looks like a chia pet.

It is a bad week when Sanjaya can get me more emotionally involved in a performance than Chris Sligh can.

The guy is Peter Noone, the former lead singer of Herman’s Hermits, who sang one of the greatest songs ever in the entire history of the known Universe, “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter.”

Why can’t Melinda ever sing something with a hook?

And did she say “as long as my God needs me, I’m gonna be there” in the intro? Is she one of those?

Performance was fine. Very proficient rendition of a very boring song. Just like last week.

How I wish the stylists could have found Melinda a neck. Nice hair cut though. And she sounded great as usual.

Lulu and Peter Noone

I don’t agree with Melinda’s assessment by Randy… I don’t think that was the best vocal or song of the night. Pretty, yes, but not the best…

Ok what I don’t like about Stephanie’s outfit is that it showcases her…knees. Buh?

I think she seems to be wandering off pitch.

I don’t agree with Randy, Jordin was the best vocal of the night. Melinda is good but I don’t think that was her best.

Nice, Melinda. I never thought of “Oliver!” as part of the British Invasion, but still – nice.

Is this song – “As Long As He Needs Me” – from something? Is this a song from “Oliver!”? It sounds familiar and show-tuney, but I don’t know why.

Oh – I was right. Thanks, Rodgers01.

My “guy,” I think. Not my “god.”
