April Showers bring a soggy MMP

Happiness and good health to MMP’s RoxStar! She’s well on her way to discovering the world, and she’s so lucky to have you holding her hand and showing it to her, FCM!

And quite frankly, there is no better birthday cake in the world than pineapple upside down cake. Got a big iron skillet? How about maraschino cherries to put in the middle of the pineapple rings?

Damn! I’d gladly kill for a pineapple upside down cake right about now!
~VOW

*PFFFFT *- she’s such an advanced child, she hit her terrible 2’s months ago!!! The kid does have a bit of a temper, and we designated a “time-out” chair that, so far, seems to help.

**VOW **- I don’t use pineapple rings - I just spread crushed pineapple, then place the cherries where they should go. No cast iron, tho. I’ll use a square baking pan.

Just back from Food Lion - they actually had TP in stock! I didn’t need any so I didn’t buy any, but it was nice to see. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the burgers I wanted, but we didn’t need them, I just like having patties on hand.

I think Roxy’s B-day supper will be build around ham. That’s as far as my planning has gone. So now, off to the kitchen to bake a cake from scratch! Go me!!

Happy Roxy day!

Afternoon all. Actually had online class today, first one; the first week they hadn’t figured out a plan, last two weeks were Easter break anyway. This meant being up and broadly respectably dressed *in the morning[/I} assumes position of woe. I was thinking of wearing my smartest button-up top and jammy bottoms, then finding an excuse to stand up midway through, but couldn’t be bothered. Maybe next week.

Also braved town to post some seeds to friends who are giving veg growing a go, and do a little shopping. The little Polish shop appears to be the only place in town with decent flour stocks, that’s the thing we’re really low on locally now, so I yoinked a bag. The only issue is Polish flour types don’t quite match British flour types, so I’ll need to experiment a little.

Saw two people with surgical masks, but I appeared to be the only one with a homemade type one, and people were giving me funny looks, they’re really not taking off here, forget being mandated. Luckily, I don’t care if people keep their distance because they should or because they think I’m a weirdo, so long as they don’t come near.

I didn’t get any fresh vegetables though, which I had intended to get, dunno if I should go up to the little greengrocers tomorrow and get some. We’re only supposed to go out once a week, but I don’t see it makes a difference if I walk up there on a different day, seeing as I’d have to walk past the house to get there from the post office anyway, and I can’t send parcels and get vegetables in the same place.

Howdy all. Slept in until 8am and outside of bringing the paper in and solving the puzzles, have not done anything worthwhile (did fix a couple of ham-n-cheese sammiches). 52F outside but only getting a little bit warmer than that, so the heat is on…it’ll get near 70F tomorrow, so spring is slowly getting here to stay.

Nut, glad you’re being sensible, even if others aren’t. And a second trip to do two things is better tan multiple trips to do them, so get your veggies.

And a happy birthday to Roxy, FCM. Mine comes up 5 days from now (slightly older than 2).

Sari, Echo needs to learn patience…or you need to hit her with a taser…

Reading from several of you, it may be the Great Toilet Paper Crisis of 2020 is finally easing, at least in some places.

OW, I won’t be there, but let me know when the June event is and I’ll raise a glass (of something) to ruble’s memory.

Dot, that is a good thing you are doing.

Cupcakes, baking bread is aromatic, but baking brownies is the best…IMHO.

flyboy, getting an attaboy at work, especially like that, always made me feel good (getting money made me feel better, but still…<grin>)

All y’all have a happy Hump Day.

I made us huevos rancheros for breakfast. Warmed corn tortilla, black beans, cheese, and an over-easy egg. I put salsa on mine. Though I’ve had huevos rancheros before, this was the first time I’ve actually made it.

The cats are intently watching Mrs. L.A. eat. She’s surrounded.

I ought to start a poll on best cooking/baking smells!

The cake isn’t pretty, but it smells good. I got a “2” candle to put on it.

Leftover shrimp and broccoli for lunch. And I’m thinking the sides for supper will be green beans (Roxy’s favorite!), cabbage, and instant smashed Judge-Ye-N.O.T.s!!

Now, I think it’s time to read.

Where have all the Mumpers gone?? Are you having a secret meeting without me??? :frowning:

Happy birthday Roxy!

We didn’t invite you because we aren’t using coasters and we didn’t want you to yell at us.

Here. Just waking from my afternoon nap. I am not sure yet what will be dinner but I must figure out something. Maybe something easy like burgers.

She’s onto us comrades! Scatter!!

And that is about all I got. Definitely a Doctor day (Doo-Little). Got my credit card bills but the website is down so I can’t check my current balance. Not due until 9 May so I have a little time.

I’m supposed to get a raise when my boss retires and I take her position. Since I’ll be doing my job as well as hers, I suggested that I should get my salary plus her salary. I get the impression that that’s unlikely.

:sways with a candle in one hand, making the peace sign with the other: Lonnng time passing…

dot, I’m wearing homemade masks, albeit, that of the one-bandana-two-rubberbands type. I got a lot of comments on the Wonder Woman one that I wore to irk today. :stuck_out_tongue:

There was a massive amount of irk in the queue when I got there today. There was a snarky email from the weekend coordinator aimed at my coordinator that he will take care of. It’s at the point that the folks who usually foist their work on someone else are finding that the rest of us don’t have the bandwidth to cover their asses on limited at irk hours. Oh, well.

Nelson got to sniff butts and wag tails with Miss Trixie, a beagle-dachshund mix a couple of buildings over this afternoon. Her human claims that she doesn’t usually take to other dogs, so maybe she just likes Nelson. Supper is Asian style stuffed cabbage and a cucumber-bell pepper salad.

Happy birthday to Roxy!

No masks completed yet today. I may try to knock a couple out in a bit. The impulsive part of me really wants to order takeout tonight. A treat. But I have no idea when/if unemployment will come through, so it would be wiser at this stage to reserve every penny for bills. The website for the unemployment application is down, too… not that it matters very much. I want to go and “check the status” but the status is just going to be that it’s submitted/pending.

My roommate has been busy this week, spending every night at her boyfriend’s or brother’s or a friend’s house. Not the wisest in terms of social distancing, but I can’t stop her. I really need her help with a couple things, so I’m unfairly a bit annoyed, but also… a) it’s not really her job to help me b) I would bet part of the reason she spends so much time away is that I constantly need her help with things and I can’t say I blame her. Mostly, I just wish I could do it myself.

Some of us still have to go to irk, you know :). Got home about 15-ish minutes ago. Still overwhelming call volume, plus tech issues. WHY do people just LIE about hold times? When one caller in a queue says they had about a 45-min wait and the next one wails about over 3hr hold times, I’m pretty sure caller 2 is lying, which does NOT make me any more sympathetic toward them. 45 minutes, I sadly believe, right now (and those callers are being very kind and understanding about how busy we are), the ones who insist on bitching for several minutes and wildly exaggerating the trauma of hold time, not so much. Also, does it ever occur to them that all the insistence on bitching and irrelevant backstory is just adding to everyone else’s hold time, and that people like them earlier in the queue were part of why they waited so long?

Had a headache a lot of the day. Not sure my stomach approves of the large combo dose of ibuprofen/naproxen/Midol I downed. I’m not even going to ask my liver’s opinion on that one.

We were playing hide and seek. You were it.:stuck_out_tongue:

But dinner was teriyaki chicken with Five Spice rice and broccoli.

I’m here! Haven’tbeen posting because hand joints are ugly-swollen, but I’ve been reading. Happy Birthday to our favorite Roxstar! Bet she loved her cake.

Had one of those schadenfreude moments yesterday. I used to be the expert on a banking application my group supported. Last year, while I was having fun at the House of Mouse in Anaheim, a decision was made to move it to another group. Yesterday, the lead tech guy for the app told me they were having all sorts of trouble and wished I was still working on it. Pretty much all I could say was “Ooh, sorry!”

More tales of feeding people… We did a distribution not too far from my house last Firday. One truck full of produce and another with seven pallets of dry food boxes were demolished in less than an hour by 250 grateful people. The organizer said it was double the usual number of people and this was the first time they gave out everything. It’s not going to get any better for quite a while.

Minor bright spot for PWAISDN is that he’ll be able to apply for pandemic unemployment in two weeks when the state starts taking new unemployment signups from sole proprietors. Still won’t be as much as a good week at the salon, but infinitely better than nothing at all, which is what he’s made in the past 30 days.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 48 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 75 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I need to do a little irk on the cee-mint pond today. That will be the extent of activity on my part. Sup shall be pancakes, snausages, and scrambled aigs, just cause.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!
