downloaded a 32px version, size 16Kb, but the forum told me it was still the same size as the original image. The properties still had the original image details in there… I gave up.
Noooo, don’t give up. Go to picresize.com. They have a custom resize available. You just type in 50×50 and it automatically does it. It’s easy.
It’s already sized smaller than 50x50…
I use a free program called Irfanview to open picture files. There is an option there in the edit menu to resize an image. Then just save or “save as” with a new name. It’s really easy.
I grabbed a free mobile app called image size. I opened the photo. There were two boxes above it for height and width. I typed 50 into both of them and saved it, it couldn’t have been easier,

I would hope that fellow poster blob would do the right thing and not depict the venerable blobfish out of its natural habitat. Which is in water, not out of it.

I like using my image editing skills and Wikipedia has a bug that makes it hard to work on any images there.

Never mind, I’m not a blobfish anyway, I’m just a regular blob. The blobfish was kindly suggested. Proper photos probably won’t reduce well.
As for resizing, I have programs on my computer to do it, they just have an “upper limit”. The file I tried to upload fell within the required size. I’ll just have to think about it some more to think something else up, or do a drawing myself. There’s no rush. It’s all good. Thanks for the suggestions.
There are a lot of blobs that turn up on a Google image search for “blob”. If you find one you like I can scale it down to 50x50 and make it a transparent PNG if that’s suitable. Here for instance, is a lovely blob that is already transparent and just needs to be reduced!
