but that doesn’t keep us from trying new and exciting things . . .
Wife’s computer is put together and OS installed. Still needs a lot of work to get it up and running good and proper, but the essentials are done.
I am astounded I managed to put together 2 systems without a single thing going wrong or forgetting something. I am übergeek, hear me push my glasses back up the bridge of my nose!
Wait, I don’t wear glasses.
And now to dinner.
Silly Butler, they did not. The bank repo’ed it after we ran out of sacrificial virgins.
Firstly …
HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBO!!!
So good to have you back, Haze; heh, I’d like to see the Halloween costume pics too.
Good to hear that SpecialOne is around and flirting, just very busy. Here’s a tail feather shake just for him.
My boss has the swine flu, we think. He’s out until he can go for 24 hours without a fever without pain killer medicine. He seems to think he’ll be back on Wednesday … yeah, next week Wednesday maybe. Ye gods! I’m still following protocol at least.
One down, four to go!
Ok, I realize that this probably seems minor next to pneumonia and it is. However, all of my babies have fleas. We spent several hours washing them and trying to kill all of the fleas that we could find. With the way everything has been going here, we haven’t had enough money for flea medicine for the last year or so and this is the first time that they have caught up with us. Fortunately my mom is back to work and we’ll be able to get the meds tomorrow. My poor babies. They were all good dogs, though and put up with all the poking and prodding. We’ve washed and dried all their things and put them to bed. Hopefully they’ll sleep a little better tonight. And hopefully we’ve gotten all the fleas.
Fleas are a PITA–we got them in college without even having pets! Turns out the guys upstairs (old Victorian house that we lived in) had a contraband cat.
Fleas suck, no matter if you’re furry or not.
::grumble::
Just paged for a search party for a lost person over in Betsytown. Dutifully got up, got dressed for a night in the boonies, gathered my gear, and was raiding the pantry for food when we were told to disregard 'cuz the lost dude or dudette was found.
Happy for the happy ending; POed about the adrenaline rush and the lost sleep.
Poor kiddo. Hope he feels better soon, rigs.
Sending lots of get well vibes to the assorted sickies working with other Mumpers. H1N1 doesn’t sound like much fun… so far, not many cases reported 'round here, but it’s only a matter of time.
I made chocolate banana bread. Partly because I happened to have some ripe bananas kicking around, and partly because The Boy had a crappy day and needed some cheering up. It was good.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN It’s the start of my work week.
It’s rainin’ big time out and looks like it will be all day and night. Oh well, if’n I gotta be inside all day, let it!
Need brekkie and some more caffiene.
Happy Tuesday!
Ugh. I feel like I’ve been run over by a flea filled bus. No, they haven’t gotten me, but I kept waking up all night feeling like they were crawling on me. I can only imagine how my poor babies have been feeling.
We’ve got two lunches and then I will directly run over to get the flea meds. DIE, FLEAS, DIE!!!
Sleepy.
Up, caffeinated, off to work.
Blurf.
At work and busy, busy, busy!
Double blurf.
I deliberately overslept this morning, because it took me an hour to come off the adrenaline jag from being paged for the (non-)search. I wasn’t about to head to Cubeville with 4 hours and change of sleep. Caffeination is underway.
Blurf[sup]3[/sup]. Ate too late last night, took too long to get to sleep. But I’m caffeinating as we speak. I’m being adventurous and eating Cape gooseberries (sans husk) for the first time. Never et gooseberries before. I like 'em. They’re different. Apparently also known as Physalis, which sounds like an exotic shampoo ingredient.
To work!
soapy, sounds like you are raising some grade A quipsters.
pie, you might want to bomb the house. A vet once told me that fleas spend more time off the animal than on.
moooooooom, that’s an UBER tank! Love the wall color! Tres chic!!
rigs, is the pneumonia the result of flu? All appendages crossed here for speedy recovery.
Well, mork, don’t cry over spilt [del]milk[/del] coffee. It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness. All’s well that ends well.
Much work to do. Better get to it.
Tupug
Hope your son gets better soon, rigs.
Sorry to hear about the fleas, pie.
I’ve gotten myself into a drawn-out discussion of politics with my conservative aunt. I do think it’s important to have calm, rational political discussions with people I actually know, not just let the country’s political “discussion” be people on the far ends of the political spectrum shouting at each other on tv. But it’s stressful trying to word everything correctly so I don’t offend and so I get my point across without sounding like a loony. We’re currently dealing with health care and life in a pluralistic society/world. Fun stuff. I think I want to go back to burying my head in the sand.
I never made it back to the MMP yesterday. I sat around most of the day watching The Stand while it poured and poured - flash flood warnings and everything! Thanks for all the birthday wishes!
rigs - so sorry about the pneumonia! Poor kid! (and mama too.) Sending healing thoughts…
Fleas should indeed die, Pie. They serve no useful purpose - much like mosquitoes.
Love your aquarium, FCM!
Soapy - those were funny quotes!

Gotta get busy again… is it Firday yet?
I miss my best friend. I haven’t seen her since the end of July, and I won’t be able to see her again until the end of December, if then. I really hope I can get that job in St. Louis next year and visit her more than once every three to six months.
This is why Skype was invented. Plus, it FREE! We skype with Daughter once a week.
#2 son is better in that his fever is gone for now, but his cough is nasty. I cannot believe the number of dreary days we have had here this Oct. It is AGAIN grey and looks like rain. It rained last night on my way home from work after a sunny morning. I am so sick of rain…
Happy Birthday (late) Rebo!
