Twice-baked NOT recipes have been posted to the blog.
Very cool place you have there, shortdrum.
Nice to see you stop by Nashii. And congrats on the new doggie.
Hope the meeting with the Fire Marshals went well, Soapy.
Forgot to say about the FAQ: If they don’t want to sticky it somewhere, maybe they could link to the post from the sticky where the MMP is defined? If there are updates needed, it could be reposted and the link could be updated. And, of course, thanks for putting it together, Pearl!
Well, my holiday yesterday wound up being kinda busy because I spent 7 hours of it at work. It’s amazing what you can get done when there’s no one around to bug you. I think I got at least 2 days’ worth of work done. It was glorious.
The evening was spent sitting on pins and needles during the last few innings of the Tigers game (:() and then monitoring the Lions game (, sorry CatDude). And making sure I had everything set up correctly on the new iPad. Also, (did I mention “sorry”, CatDude?) Still need to add music and a few podcasts to tide me over. Also need to get contacts set up properly.
Doing laundry, need to find a few more things before trip, and - most importantly - finish planning my trip.
**Filbert **- how cool is it that your folks have a zoo!! Is this a recent thing or did you grow up among all critters great and small?? Oh, and if you don’t want to start amassing MMP Demerits, i suggest you get some kitteh photos to post, um, posthaste!!! Just sayin’…
Class wasn’t overly productive today. I built a penguin figurine and started underglazing a large vase - I should be able to finish it on Thurs. I also got back 2 pieces that I glazed last week - a purple vase and a yellow fish. I’m hoping my big bowl gets fired this week.
Sammich has been ingested. Time to go out and plant some pansies. Looks like it may have started drizzling here. Luckily, the flower boxes are under an overhang…
I had an angry client call this morning. The boss I inherited is retiring, but he’s not transitioning his clients yet. So, when he disappears for days at a time and doesn’t respond to anything, I get to hear all about it. And of course, I can’t so much as breathe a word of his retirement.
One of my coworkers came in on Sunday and said the same thing, gt, about how efficient she could be when she wasn’t being constantly interrupted. I spend enough hours here that I can’t be bothered to come in on the weekend. There’s too little off time as it is. If TPTB need more work done, they’ll have to hire more people. I’ve started sending my to do list to my manager so she can add to it or reprioritize as necessary. And I copy my manager and her boss on my team’s to do so they both know how busy my whole team is. Especially this week with my not-as-new analyst out on his honeymoon. He closed on his new house on Friday, then cleaned and painted that night, got married Saturday, opened presents with family at the new house Sunday, did more moving/unpacking Monday and then took off on his honeymoon today. Even crazy work isn’t that crazy!
I made Smitten Kitchen’s swiss chard and sweet potato gratin on Sunday. It was a ton of work, but really tasty. As were the pumpkin chocolate chip bars from Two Peas (tasty, not a lot of work). They’re more cake-like than bar-like and warmed just a little in the microwave so the chocolate is gooey, they’re awesome.
Those bars sound good, but doggone - two sticks of butter!!! I feel my arteries hardening as I read that! Surely one stick of butter would be tons… I may try it that way.
I’m very sorry to hear about your cousin, Rebo. I’ll be keeping you, him & your family in my thoughts. My birthday is next week too and us Libras gotta stick together.
Today my company passed out free ice-scrapers. I have a feeling they know something about the coming winter I don’t.
I also got to see Air Force One parked at the base next to the airport and I didn’t get caught in any traffic on the way home either. I did see the Presidential motorcade headed down the Boulevard of the Allies as I crossed the Liberty Bridge. Unfortunately, I was too far away to get an autograph. Since Pittsburgh lacks a Dealy Plaza, I assume he made it home ok.
It looks like I’ll be having another Isaly’s chipped-chopped ham sandwich for supper. The only mystery is what cheese and condiment will go on it. Maybe Swiss, maybe American. Maybe mayo, maybe horseradish sauce or I might get totally wild and go for BBQ sauce. Sometimes I like livin’ on the edge!
Bri2k
P.S. I thought of you on my way home, rosie. I was behind a tow truck most of the way. I hope you’re feeling better soon!
P.P.S. Your vase & yello fish totally rock, Mooooom!
It’s the same as a batch of chocolate chip cookies. If you cut the 13x9 pan into 16 bars, which are pretty big, it’s 1 tbsp butter per serving. I’d probably make 20 bars out of the pan so it’s <1Tbsp. That’s not bad at all.
Well, I made 'em with half the butter, and I don’t think having all the butter would have changed my opinion - I’m not impressed. They taste like nutmeg bars with chocolate chips. Neither **FCD **nor I can taste pumpkin at all. I don’t think I’ll be keeping this recipe.
I do want to find a good pumpkin bread recipe. I used to have one, but I lost it ages ago. It was a really damp, heavy bread - kinda like pumpkin brownies. The search goes on.
Supper was OK. Now I’ve got to clean up. ugh. Where’s the dishwashing fairy when you need her??
