Birthdays and Memories, A Bittersweet MMP

Reading and lounging until church. It looks like it’ll rain soon.

My belly button is starting to hurt. I didn’t think that was supposed to happen until the kidlet really starts shoving things around i.e. showing, which I’m not, yet. I just look a little rounder. I have a bit of a potbelly, which I figure is the kid pushing everything up and forward that used to sit quietly lower down.
How far along do i have to be to find out if it’s a boy or girl? Anyone know?

Oh, dear. I hope what The Kid is seeing, FCM is a sudden jump-start of ambition and jobfulness, and I hope she’s right if she’s going to marry him. A sister of a friend made a similar marriage recently, and the whole family was [DEL]berserk[/DEL] concerned about it. And still are. A successful 25 yr old with a good job marrying a 45 yr old underemployed drifter. shakes head

That’s the trick, ain’ it? There used to be a little out of the way dive called Beefalo’s that served THE BEST buffalo burgers in the universe, but the location and unpaved parking lot caused business to dwindle unitl they finally closed.

Hey LiLi, I found out at about 18 weeks, which about the time a good radiographer can properly see on the ultrasound if there’s a winkie or not!

And get used to the achey belly button. I got that around 18 weeks as well, and it never went away until she was out! It kind of feels like a weak spot, like if you sneezed too hard, you might pop it and have things start leaking out your front!

Aaahhhh, all’s quiet now on the home front. Time to settle down with a beer and relax in from of the teev for a while before bed. I love the fact that Noor’s sleeping through now (touch wood) - from about 9:30pm, after her late evening feed, until 6am - woohoo!!!

I’m almost at 15 weeks, and I don’t think my belly button should be aching yet. Oh, well.
Great. Only three weeks or so until we know which name to call him/her.

Is your belly button still an innie, LiLi? Because it’ll turn into an outie pretty quick here (although it will revert to being an innie if that was its pre-preggo state), and that might have something to do with it aching. I don’t know; I had lots of pregnancy aches and pains both times – especially with Young Tiger, who managed to park himself of a nerve running down into my leg at about three months and sit there till he was born, grrr! – but that was one I didn’t get. I think I’d prefer it to Young Tiger’s nerve-sit, though. And as for the 18 weeks thing? I’ve known lots of people who were never entirely sure – if Junior doesn’t cooperate, there’s not a lot anybody can do about it. Without doing an amnio, obviously, which presumably there’s no reason to do in your case.

I am being a very good girl here and working hard. Except that as the day progresses, I am feeling worse and worse – aching all over, alternately hot and cold (and not just from stupid hot flashes, either), just feeling cranky and grouchy and miserable. I am not a happy camper. Here’s hoping whatever it is gives up before much longer, because I simply do not have time to be sick this weekend!

So I got frustrated staring at little numbers on a spreadsheet and decided to get the yard work done.

Done it is, and a good thing, because while doing it I cleared my head and had a ‘duh’ moment.

Something I was doing putting this report together was about 15 times more work than it needed to be. Short version - I was separating $$ paid to various bus companies that do things for us, by category (school routes, educational trips, band trips, etc…). When I don’t have to, all I need is a total by vendor and when I put all my miles in the sheet, it automatically prorates it all back.

duh

It’s not a logical way to do the proration, but it’s the state’s formula, not mine, and I KNEW that I should have just totaled stuff, but I’ve been brain dead lately, so I furrgot.

Now, all I have to do tomorrow is go into the accounting program (online - the whole damn district’s online somewhere, I tell ya), total all of the payments sorted by vendor, and ta-da.

I’m a dummy.

Cuervo, on the other hand is brilliant. He’s napping in the breeze on his favorite chair.

You mean you’re not gonna call him/her tinyninjachef? I’m so disappointed!

It’s gettin’ drizzly out which I hope turns into rain soon. We’re havin’ steak and sallit for supper. I’ve got some corn bread coolin’ down and some biscuits in the oven. I’m making some good ol’ southern chicken ‘n dressin’ for lunch tomorrow. I’ve got a big ol’ hen stewin’ on the stove and I’ve also sauteed some celery, onions and bell peppers. The kitchen smells so wunnerful right now!

Taters have fun! I really like buffalo but I’ve never cooked it. It’s kinda hard to find it in the store 'round these parts.

**Lissla **-- you’ll know the gender soon enough. And – my wife went through pregnancy with twins. **Both **of whom were born over 5 lbs. (the boy was a full 6 lbs). So – I’m not saying it won’t be hard at times, but in this day and age you’ll pull through. And the results are totally worth it!

**Rigs **-- hope you feel better now. On your birthday weekend, no less :frowning:

Assorted and appropriate yays and boos all around…

Dunno if I’ll be on tomorrow morning – I’m on another day of reserves’ duty; which means no internet. So you’re all going to have to manage without my cheery “Good Morning” early Sunday morning! Aren’t you all glad? :stuck_out_tongue:

(**Roo **-- I’ll say “Good Night” to you now; even if it is only 1 PM at your end :D)

I cleaned the kitchen, made dinner for tonight, and fixed a cheesesteak for lunch. I went to Confession, too since I had the time.

Does this mean you don’t want to come over and listen to my Dorsey Brothers records?

MamaTigs, I thought the belly button thing was like the turkey thermometer, it pops up when the kid’s done.

I feel for you FCM. I’m not looking forward o the day that my daughter finds someone. Given her past taste in boyfriends I almost want to drink myself into a stupor every time I think about it.

Then I just hope that when the time comes she’ll get lucky as hell.

Taking a bit of a break between arts/music festival and getting a bit of garden work done. Oh, and at some point, I need to go in to work to verify that a conversion that was done last night didn’t result in any bizarro tragedies.

Hey, FCM, I took a look at ceramics prices and … well … they were expensive. All the vendors had more formal pieces than yours, but even the very smallest bowls and such were $16. I did come across one vendor who was selling some magnets that looked similar to the pendants you worked on for your last show. They were probably smaller and thinner. They priced them at 50 cents apiece and 10 for $3 or some such. It’s a pretty big festival; don’t know how much that plays into pricing. Here’s their Web site. There’s a smaller one closer to home in a couple of weeks. It’ll be interesting to see what pricing is like there.

Forgot to say earlier: sounds like a great opportunity, lapin blanc. Remembered that I hadn’t said anything when I walked past the soon-to-open pet grooming place that’s near the library.

Well, gotta go get a few things done.

Hi & hugs to all!

GT

Daughter who are old enough to date are God’s punishment on fathers for having been teenage boys.
Went to Confession and Mass, and the guys I went with are out picking up Indian food for us, if they can find the restaurant. Which right now seems doubtful. Mr. Lissar has been promoted to black belt in karate, so now he’s a triple shodan. He’s out getting drunk.

I’m waiting for QD, who will be here by 6:30. Once she invents a time machine.

not if I have to crank the Victrola…

Vive la France!

(I thought someone should recognize the holiday)
The husband is out in his open toed fake shoe for people who have had foot surgery, using a chain saw. Well, well.

Saw HP5 again. Still love it.

Bye!

I am so bored. I don’t feel like doing cross-stitch. I think I’ll go pull weeds until it gets too dark.

**gt ** - thanks for the market research!

OK, here are the photos you’ve all been waiting for:

Scruffy, in her French Whore attire

Bernie, looking adorable, or like a floozy - your choice.

**FCD ** still laughs himself silly when he looks at Scruffy.

The boat is packed with everything but our clothes and the perishable foods. We’re planning to be out of here by 7 in the morning. Chances are, I won’t be posting till late Thursday at the earliest. Try to carry on without me! And if we have newbies, I’m trusting you to save the chocolate love offerings till I get back. Don’t make me invoke The Look.

Back from work (took 1 1/2 hours, but everything’s fine - yay!).

Don’t know if you’ll see this, FCM, but you’re welcome. I was impressed that I actually remembered to look.

Forgot to tell my shocking garden tale earlier: There I was, innocently looking out my back door, when, what do I spy? A freakin’ chipmunk in one of my tomato plants, merrily picking ripe grape tomatoes. He was actually in the plant, harvesting.  I flew out the back door and yelled at him (her?) and he left, but now I know why all the tomatoes from the other plant completely disappeared. Wish I’d gotten a picture, though, cuz he looked really funny. Guess I’ll have to think up some better plan next year. Maybe more tomatoes than both the chipmunk and I can eat? It’ll be interesting to see how many tomatoes I actually get to eat.

Exciting Saturday evening. Guess I’ll read a while and then get to bed. It was too late when I got home to work in the garden except for watering a few very thirsty-looking plants, so I want to get up early and get some work done out there.

Poor Bernie and Scruffy, though Scruffy is hilarious. Why do dog groomers insist on those ear ribbons? So where do they and Miss Brandi stay whilst y’all are out sailin’ Moooooom?

There was a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig thunderboomer here about an hour ago. It came from the north so I’m wonderin’ if Snakes sent it. Right now it’s a nice steady rain, just right for sleepin’. So what are you doin’ up then you ask? Well, I’m attempting to stay up til at least eleven cause I want to acclimate myself to a second shift schedule come Monday.

Guess I’ll go surf around a bit.

Scruffy looks worried and ashamed–like a closeted cross dresser caught.

I am doing nothing. I did manage to do some homework today, but not enough. I am having trouble caring…

Night all.

I did pull some thorny stuff out of the yard, so I feel productive.

No, Swampy, I didn’t send you the rain. I would have kept it; we need it.

In 10 days I get to go to Pasaquan with my librarian friend and some relatives of hers from Germany. It’s only open to the public on weekends, but my friend has a bit of pull with the director so we get a private weekday tour. I’ve been before but it is really a fascinating place and I am looking forward to going again. The creator of Pasaquan, Eddie Owens Martin, styled himself “St. EOM” after living a debaunced life in New York City. In addition to building the complex and telling fortunes, he also made necklaces of wooden beads. When he committed suicide (he had been diagnosed with cancer) he left behind literally barrels and bins of beads, which are now for sale to help pay for restoration of the complex. I’m going to get some to make myself a necklace.
