Moooom’s critters are staying at home with their own personal guest servant, Swampy – Alice is down there for a few days at their beck and call. I can’t wait to hear how thrilled she is to have Miss Brandy swat her head at 0 dark 30, since she’s as much of a morning person as I am.
I have been SUCH a good girl today and have gotten lots and lots of work done. You know how some people giggle every time they finish a sentence? Do you have ANY idea how freaking annoying it is to hear a 50-year-old man do that every single time he answers a question for an estimated 200 pages? I’m about ready to reach through the space-time continuum and slap him upside the head. Some people are weird. :dubious:
I’d better go fold laundry. Papa Tigs was kind enough to wash and dry it all, but he just leaves it all on the bed for Yours Truly to fold and put away. Envy me my exciting life.
Ooooooh…I forgot to say…I thought Scruffy looked very amusing and Bernie looked kinda embarrassed. Glad they’re in good hands while the FairyChats are away.
So, why am I awake? Because people keep calling me to discuss data. The data feed out of the system had an ick in it. So I’ve talked to three people about what the ick is and what to do about it. Sent the developer to talk to the data base person and work it out. (It’s just for a reporting data base and will be all better next week anyway, so it’s not an incredibly big deal.) Shouldn’t have more than another couple of calls, I hope.
Sorry I’ve been absent all day. I went to the beach, then went to go see HP5 with my brother. It was the best so far, although I was a bit disappointed with the lack of McGonagall’s awesomeness. Now I want to re-read the book.
I have to clean house tomorrow, and am tired, so must trip off to bed. Appropriate hugs and kisses to all!
Afternoon, everyone! It’s absolutely bucketing down outside, it’s just the kind of soggy Sunday you really want to just curl up on the sofa with a good book and a cat to cuddle.
So why do I have to go out and do errands with 'im indoors? It’s just not fair! stamps foot
Today’s plan is to go to the computer shop 'cos he wants a new printer/copier/scanner thingie and I need to grumble at them about the wireless connection in my new laptop 'cos it’s not working. That should be fun.
After that we need to do the grocery run but I’ve managed to persuade him that stopping off for lunch in the pub along the way is a good idea. No beerverages for me today though, I’m driving so I have to behave.
Last night he was out at a stag do with some friends from a place he used to work - finally rolled home at 1am and just about made it up the stairs to bed with a bit of help. It’s just gone midday and he’s still snoring!
I’ve been up, caffeinated, done laundry, fed the cats, caught up on t’interweb and watched some stuff on the TiVO. Time to go and poke Mr Gnomio and see if he’s anywhere near surfacing yet.
Congrats to Mr Lissar but why does it have to be 8am on a Saturday? That’s purely bonkers. And congrats to you, LiLi on not throwing up.
Yays. boos, hugs and appendage-crossing for everyone else as appropriate.
Speaking of baths and throwing up, what an awful morning I had! Took Noor with me to go grocery shopping this morning. The temperature is really nasty today, around 50C (120-something Fahrenheit), so I think she got a little heat exhaustion, which led to her throwing up profusely all over herself and her car seat just after I strapped her in as we left the supermarket! :smack: Trying to clean up rapidly congealing, slightly rancid-smelling milky baby puke while also trying to manhandle a sticky, slippery baby out onto the rear seat of the car to change her and clean her up, meanwhile freaking out that my baby is dehydrating as we speak …
So I stripped her off, wiped her down, put a clean nappy and vest on her, wiped off the car-seat as best I could, put baby back in the sticky, stinky car-seat, drove home, got baby and groceries inside the air-conditioned house, bathed stinky and sticky baby, showered stinky and sticky mother, fed hungry and grumpy baby, put groceries away, fought with husband about not wanting to go to in-laws’ house to be lectured about mistreatment of small child, put puke-covered clothes, blankets and car-seat covers in wash, made turkey and cheese sandwiches, ate sandwiches, drank refreshing can of 7-Up and finally sat down! Phew
Yuck Dots! Hope baby Noor is feelin’ better today.
So, Bernie, Scruffy and Miss Brandi have a nanny for the week. I hope Alice took notes on how to maintain discipline when I described the strict regimen I keep JoeDawg on when I’m his nanny. It’s important you know.
Snakes according to my rain gauge we got right at three inches of rain last night. Today’s lookin’ rainy too. It’s sprinklin’ from time to time. I’ve ridden by Pasaquan before and wondered about it. Please give us a detailed description when you go.
I’m up and caffienatin’ too. I gotta go purty up soon for church. I’m a lector this mornin’.
The critters will remain on their own schedule as well as I can manage, seeing as I am NOT a morning person! Miss Brandy slept down at the end of the sofa by my feet for most of the night, which was really sweet. She reminds me a lot of MT’s Emily, though not in looks. She’s certainly an equal in Attitude! And the dogs have figured out that I’m always good for a scritch.
Unfortunately, Scruffy peed in the dining room overnight, after I was assured she hadn’t done that for a month. I think all the excitement was just a bit much for the idiot. Now she’s curled up on the floor sleeping and looking entirely innocent.
And the fiance in question is a nice guy, but I wouldn’t even consider marrying him; keep in mind that I’d love to find a guy and get married and all that, but not this one! He’s real sweet, even considering I have to like anybody who dishes up ice cream for me! g However, I have no more say than anybody else in this thread. I hope the whole situation turns out well for all involved…I almost married the wrong guy a few years ago and am now thankful I didn’t.
yawn Everybody was up waaaaay too early. At least tomorrow I won’t have to face humans at 6:15, just critters. Critters don’t care if your hair sticks out in odd directions and stuff like that.
Weeelll… I’m back from asking what I can do for my country. Not much, apparently, at least right now – except miss a perfectly good day of work that I really needed
So now I’m at home, but connected to the office VPN, trying to debug a really exotic (and intermittent. Ugh) timing problem (**GT **-- I’m sure you can feel my pain). Which really needs fixing by tomorrow (hence my rolleyes above)
I think it’s still early enough for a Sunday morning to do the “Good Morning, y’all; rise and shine!” routine
**Dotty **-- 50 degrees! And I’m complaining about the heat here :smack: So sorry you keep having these scary moments with Noor; I promise you it’ll get better as she grows up a bit; meanwhile, I gather nothing worse than the puking happened and she’s OK?
Roo – A very special “Good Morning!” to you. Just because
Hey again everyone. It’s 5:30pm here and things are winding down for the day, including Noor.
Special1, (WARNING - TMI AHEAD) Noor has had a couple of bouts of really runny, sour-smelling diarrhoea this afternoon as well (par for the course I expect with heat exhaustion in a small baby), but her mood is fine and she is as energetic and upbeat as she always is. I have upped her feed timing from 4-hourly to 3-hourly since we got home, as well as pushing lots of boiled water into her in between times.
We will keep a close eye on her overnight and take her straight to the hospital if she gets any more diarrhoea or seems abnormal.
I’m up and caffeninating; actually up much earlier than I wanted to be - stoopid phone. You would think that people who know me would know better than to call before 9 in the morning…
Swampy, we’ve had no rain at all, you rainpig, but it’s a bit cloudy outside now. Maybe it will rain and I can go back to bed for a nap. Even with my leg pills I didn’t sleep well last night; no more than 2 or 3 hours without waking up.
Dotty, your story of baby puke reminds me of one of the reasons I never had kids. I was babysitting a toddler still in diapers and his mom had given him raisins with his lunch. Bitch still owes me for that diaper change, it was all I could do not to throw up. It was about that time that my feelings on children changed from “probably not” to “no farkin’ way in hell”.
SCL, I understand your feelings on this, but when you get moments like this, its all worth it! I took this yesterday and every time I look at it, I almost wet myself laughing! She’s soooooo cute!
**Dotty **-- whaddyamean TMI? After the first year with the first child, there ain’t no such thing as TMI any more
What a face! :D:D:D
Three kids… growing up in (not **quite *so severe) desert conditions – BTDTGTTS. Totally worth it, especially when they get older. Hang in there – she’ll be OK, and you’ll be more than OK!
*Been There, Done That, Got The T-Shirt (stained with all kinds of stuff… )
Ooohhh, that so cute! You’d never know she gets covered in puke and screams her little head off, would you?
Bernie looks chagrined. And like he’s hoping no one will take pictures.
Up, after being up very late watching movies and hanging out with DH and QD (plus obligatory argument with QD about whether or not her mother should butt out of the marriage-decision-process with constant wailing about he’s-not-going-to-be-able-to-support-you-I-don’t-understand-why-he-doesn’t-have-a-career).
Slightly different from The Kid’s fiancee. Driving Husband is constantly employed, looking for a full-time job, has a university degree, and is entirely reliable. He’s just been in school for six years, and is not required right now to be financially amazing, because they won’t get married for more than a year anyway. He has no student or other debt, either. And he puts up with QD and her screamy, screamy family.
Reading for a few minutes. I feel like I might throw up. Maybe.
I am up, but after reading Dotty’s post, I need to lie down again…
I well remember those baby puke days. The best was #1 son, who had a severe ear infection. We were waiting in a very looong line to get his script filled in winter when he puked all over me, him and the floor.
We got our script before anyone else! Hee.
Went home with now freezing puke over us and cleaned up. You appreciate clean clothes on a whole 'nother level with babies.
Today we clean up Lego Central-#2 son has built such a town downstairs that we can no longer walk around the room. He had some help from friends. Now I get to play Godzilla and DESTROY whole populations! Yes!
Noor is SUCH a doll! And as you know, Dotty, Og made kids cute so we wouldn’t kill 'em. Yikes for your day yesterday! And YIKES for 50C! I felt 50C one day only, in the deserts of eastern Washington State, and hope never to again – I can’t imagine taking a small baby out in that! Sounds like you dealt with it just fine, though, in spite of all the chaos. Small babies create absolutely astonishing amounts of chaos for their size, don’t they? Just, whatever you do, don’t give her purple grape juice unless you know where you’re going to be; cleaning up purple puke that dried on the seat of the car underneath the car seat in the Texas sun for a couple of weeks is my idea of hell. (Hey, I thought it had all landed in the carseat, I didn’t know Young Tiger could puke it clear out and onto the seat of the car itself!)
Alice is an excellent pet nanny. We are all very, very sad to be losing her to her aunt in Idaho, but this is an opportunity Papa Tigs has been working on his sister to offer for the last six months and it’s just too good for her to pass up. So we will just cope. Even though Isaac will be broken-hearted; he is truly insanely in love with her. Mixed-species love is…interesting. :dubious:
Speaking of the Idiots, Papa Tigs took them to the beach this morning and received numerous compliments on how smart Rusty is. When he told me about it, I’m sure my face looked like this:  Because Rusty is truly the dumbest dog I have ever met. But all the other dogs were leaving their toys out in the water, and since Rusty considers beach toy patrol to be one of his jobs, he’d go bring them all back in. And then he’d let other dogs retrieve his toy when Papa Tigs threw it and then take it away as soon as they got back in. Stoopid dog. But now both Idiots are out for the day, which makes life much easier for the humans in the family.
Off to do something constructive. Like caffeinate some more.
