Birthdays and Memories, A Bittersweet MMP

Just threw up. I think I’ll lie down for a bit.

And then have some tea.

I don’t think I would be able to deal with babies yet. Maybe I’ll be ready in my next life or so.

Morning all. My plan for today is to make buttermilk cornmeal pancakes, then clean house so I can find a subletter that might actually want to live here. Of course, all of this means I should actually crawl out of bed soon. :smack:

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

I went to Mass, ate some pancakes, and took Maggie to the greenway for a quick sniff n’ poop. I feel like napping.

Dotty, sorry about Noor’s bad day. She is cute, though.

MamaTigs, my mom’s Pom love her housekeeper more than she loves mom(Ant that’s saying a lot).

Feel better soon, LiLi!

lapinblanc, I think Scruffy did a revenge pee for the French Whore pic.

Dotty, that is an adorable picture (and an adorable baby). You must save that picture for when she is old enough to date so you can embarass her.

My mother always told me “I hope your children give you the grief you have given me.” Since my mother was gone before I married, and might have some pull with Whoever decides these things, I decided it was in my best interest not to have kids. I would have ended up with Damien.

Laundry is drying. Mr. SCL is sleeping. I am hungry, so I’ll go hunting for lunch.

Theoretically, this should all end by next week at the latest. The cheerful predictions have morning sickness ending at week thirteen (last week) and the uncheerful ones at week sixteen (week and a half). If I’m one of the lucky ones who isn’t sick all through.

I am much better in general, I’m just still puking once every couple of days.
Last night’s dinner made me realise how much I miss Indian food. I’ve called Driving Husband to see if he and QD want to go out for lunch fairly soon.

Good moring everyone.

Baby Noor is a cutie. I hope all turns out well with her and the runny diahrrea disappears.

We had lots of fun yesterday at our friends’ place in the country. We chatted, played some new lawn game (don’t know the name of it), croquet, tossed the ol’ pigskin around, and ate. We walked down to the lake and I waded, while Mr. Taters swam, and then the guys rowed around the lake in our friends’ rowboat. Then we came back and played some more.

All in all, we had a really good time, although I ended up sick. Noooooooooo, I did not imbibe too much alcohol. I actually quit drinking anything around 5:00 in the afternoon and just stuck to water. Before that, I had one mojita, one beer, and two shots of tequila. That’s it. I wasn’t even buzzed as I was sweating it all out anyway. It was hot. Hence, my switch to water.

At any rate, about 10:30 pm, my friend decided to grill up the buffalo burgers. Dont’ worry we had eaten earlier in the day, this was part deux of eating. I thought I was hungry, but after two bites I felt incredibly ill. I was fine up until then, just a little tired. I sat down for awhile, but I wasn’t getting any better. I finally had to tell the hubby we needed to leave. I didn’t tell our hosts it was because I was sick. We did need to get going anyway, the poor dog was in the house and we needed to come home and let him out.

At any rate, on the way home my husband had to pull over to the side of the road twice. :o I was rather violently ill. God, I wanted nothing more than to get home. The ride seemed to take forever.

I feel much better today. I don’t know what hit me. Something just disagreed with me, I guess. I ate wings, deviled eggs, tater salad, chips, and some fruit. I can’t figure out what made me feel so sick. It could have been the heat too. I had the begininnings of a raging headache, so that probably didn’t help.

Poor Bernie looks like he’s truly embarrassed in that picture.

I’ll probably spend today cleaning up around the house. Doesn’t that sound exciting?

That is a very amusing picture of Noor. Definitely a keeper. Hope all the effects of the heat have subsided by now.

I second the motion on Scruffy having revenge peed.

Sorry on the data thing, SO. I know how I hate it when I really need to be doing something and wind up doing something completely different.

After brunch, I went to the park where I volunteer because it’s the opening weekend for the outdoor sculpture exhibit. It was crowded. I got the second-last spot in the regular parking lot (they have overflow parking for this event). Took lots of pics - it’s very cool! I’ll post the pics during the week.

Hope everyone’s feeling better. It’s pretty hot out, but I need to get some work done out there. I think I’m going to do a bit of cleaning indoors then start to do a bit outdoors, probably in spurts so that I don’t overheat.

Hope everyone’s having a pleasant Sunday.

I’ve been cleaning out my apartment in a frenzy, so I can put up ads for subletters tonight with pictures and hopefully get this all done and over with before the month is out. I felt a bit sad about throwing out all my school papers and stuff - it had such an air of finality about it. Isn’t it strange? It’s barely been a month since I’ve graduated but it seems like an eternity in some ways.

I made blueberry buttermilk cornmeal pancakes for breakfast today and they were pretty good. I wasn’t able to try the initial recipe I came across because I lacked the ingredients. I love the Domestic Goddess dearly but her recipes do tend to call for things that us mortals don’t usually have on hand.

I’m procrastinating. I need to put the final touches on my romance paper and send it off (due tomorrow). I need to do a number of other things as well.

I came home to a strange dog IN my house. It was rather unexpected. The husband was in the basement, oblivious. #2 son has 2 friends over and they had left the back sliding glass and screen door open. Dog was a cutie, no collar. I let him back out. His tongue was hanging out-and it IS hot here today. So, I gave him some water. He went off to bark at the golfers across the street then ran around my east neighbors. This went on for awhile (with him coming bad to visit the water bowl), so I decided to call the police. He was such a sweet dog-I didn’t want him to get run over. They said, “is the animal captive?”

Anyhoo, I then noticed a strange car at my west neighbor’s. Hmmm…Sherlock that I am, I leapt to a conclusion. Their phone is out of order (?), so I went over and knocked. The dog was running down the street, but one “here, boy!” got him over to me. My neighbor answered the door. Turns out the dog belongs to her niece who is visiting from out of town (no collar, no tags!).

And they’re looking at me like I’m a bitch to have called the police. Tcha.

No good deed goes unpunished, rigs. Well, screw them. I’m sure the dog is grateful, at least.

This cleaning stuff is hard work! Almost done, though. Listening to Bob Dylan helps.

Agreed about the rogue puppy. Good job.

just popped in to say “hi” - I’ve been catching up on sleep today, and polishing up tomorrow’s MMP. Appropriate reactions all around - it’s humid and icky so I’m going back into the a/c

Awwwwww… Noor is such a cutie Dots!

rigs you done good about the doggy. Screw the neighbors and irresponsible dog owner.

Y’all, Bernie is a she. Her given name is Bernadette. I know this cause we’ve met and I have had the honor of givin’ her butt skritches.

We had a truly nummy lunch (or as we say down south Sunday dinner). Chicken ‘n dressin’, homemade cranberry sauce (not by me but from a friend), butterbeans, squash, maters, cucumbers, rolls and ‘nanner puddin’. I’m so full I don’t foresee supper tonight at all. Also, I was given two watermelons at church this mornin’, so there shall be watermelon eatin’ aplenty at da cave this week! YAY! What? I lurve me some watermelon!

Taters sounds like a combo of food plus heat. Especially heat. Remember, drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids when in the heat for prolonged periods whether for work or play. I learned that this week in safety training. See, my going back to work is allowing me to impart invaluable advice to the cool kids!

There are water and cooling stations all throughout the brewery and use of them is strongly encouraged throughout the day. Covered water cups are allowed on the lines for this reason too cause they want people to stay well hydrated.

I’m beginnin’ to sound like BBBobbio ain’t I?

Well, I see your 5 days as a Miller employee have been very educational and beneficial to MMPers all over, swampy. I had not read your post yet, but had come inside to hydrate. Cuz it’s a bit hot out. Chilly compared to where Dotty is, but hot enough to require frequent hydration. Anyway, I must have heard you telling us to hydrate and that’s what brought me in the house. Also, I wanted some chocolate.

Good job with the puppy, rigs. Dontcha just wonder what people are thinking, sometimes, letting animals just wander around?

I’m just finishing up a bit of mulching and then I’ll be in to shower and have din-din. Contents of said din-din are as yet unknown.

Did I mention I went to the farmer’s market yesterday? It’s teeny tiny, but I came home with purple peppers, some new NOTs and two ears of corn. I zapped one ear yesterday and am thinking the second one will be zapped for dinner tonight. I’m planning to make NOT salad (a yummy recipe that includes tomatoes and basil and garlic; very different from the usual), but that’s for lunches this week. The kitchen isn’t exactly empty, so I’m sure I’ll find something for dinner. Maybe I’ll organize the pantry shelves while I’m there.

Guess I should go out and finish up yard chores so that I can come inside and…envy me…do indoor chores.

Back later.

Oh, and I have grown the cutest lil yellow tomatoes–they look like lil mini yellow pears. I grew them in the same container as my annual cherry tomatoes. Haven’t had them yet (today is the first day they’re ripe). But they sure are cute!

I finished my romance paper-closest thing I’ll get to romance anytime soon. (hmmph)

Off to watch BBCAmerica for a while.

Oopsie, double post!

Isn’t there AC in the plant, Swampy? Or is it just not enough to counteract all the goings-on involved in making beer? Or do they just not want people falling headfirst into a vat of beer and dying happy?

I need a second opinion, from anyone who cares to offer one: How would you spell a woman’s first name that sounds like Tory? Tori? Torri? Torrie? Any input would be welcomed. I’ve been unable to settle on a choice, alas, and I need to pick something and stick with it.

I find some classic Grateful Dead to be good cleaning music. Which I shall probably be listening to tomorrow after I finish this [del]godawful piece of shit[/del] important transcript since the house is more than desperately in need of a good de-hairing. That’s one thing you can always count on with several shedding animals, the drifts of dog hair can accumulate faster than you can stay ahead of them.

I have napped on and off all day. Maggie has had her bath, and I cleaned the bathroom. I’m having blackened chicken, peppered rice and salad for dinner,

MamaTigs, I’d go with Tori.

rigs, you did the right thing. The neighbors would be more distressed if the dog ended up a pavement pancake.

BioTigs the brewery proper is as air conditioned as a wiiiiiiide open space can be, which is not much. Ergo, the cooling and water stations everywhere. I’d go with Tori.

gt you do realize you must share that N.O.T. salad recipe, right? It sounds nummy! I like different type recipes for N.O.T. salad cause it’s one of my favorite things.

rigs yay on finishin’ that paper. I didn’t have to nag even once! Oh and those little yellow maters are sooooooo nummy! Sweet and juicy and they squish real good in the mouth!

I caught up, now I feel all timely again.

In a drunken fit of happiness, I agreed to play golf again today, so that’s where I was at 9 am. Came home, napped and made dinner. Caught up some work-ish work, now I plan to do nothing the rest of the night.
