Closing in on the "Unofficial Start of Summer" in the MMP

We get 2.5 extra pay with a small caveat that not many people catch at first. You get paid basic 4 hours even if its your day off and you stay home; you get 2.5 if its your scheduled shift and you show up and work the whole thing. You DO NOT get anything extra if you volunteer for extra shifts or leave your shift early even voluntarily. And you must work the day before and after that you would normally be scheduled for. Like everything at Da Jungle reality is not as simple as one would imagine.

**
Juliet** ------ 147 bad jokes spring to mind but I’ll pass on them (well — almost all of them) and just wish the RugRat gets much better much quickly.
Speaking of which the Old Wench has her colonoscopy early Thursday; her first. But having seen me go through a couple she has armed herself for the prep with many clear foods and soft tissues. Wednesday night could be interesting for both of us.

And since its trout season in PA …

The Princess agrees with this.

On the minus side: tired, still a bit stuffy/sneezy (damn allergies!), and I’ve gotta irk Moanday, no option for a three-day weekend. They Of Pointy Hair at Hades Annex firmly believe that on Memorial Day, we’re going to get loads of calls and everyone normally irking that day will be needed. The fact that many at HA depend on public transit, which can be counted on to be epically screwed up on a holiday, does not seem to factor in. Also, DH has that day off, but his employer does not do paid holidays, so a day’s pay is lost.

On the plus side: assuming all goes as planned, I will be paid for 48 hours next week, since I do get 8 hours holiday pay on top of wages for time actually served, er, irked. Also, sup and grandboss think my QA scores for the month to date are wonderful, and another department says they’ve sung my praises to my own higher-ups. And, since DH does have Memorial Day off, I do get the car, so transit isn’t a worry. And I’m not sneezing anywhere near as much as yesterday, and the sinuses are not producing mass quantities of ick.

I have had the allergy sneezes as well for the last couple of days.

Our work says one must be in a paid status either before or after a holiday to get holiday. Paid status can even be annual or sick leave.

I was all sleepified and ready to pass out until I got up to brush my teeth and now I am wide ass awake. Why me? I need sleep.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Hockey tonight, Game 7.

Alex Catt has no interest in boxes.:dubious:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark) with a predicted high of 82 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. We had lots of rain yestiddy but no tstorms. Today I shall go geezer grocery shoppin’, go to :eek:Wally Jr., and to FedEx. That should be enough out and about bein’ adult stuff for anybody. We shall sup upon St. Louis style ribs at Sonny’s bein’ as that’s this week’s special. In case I have not mentioned this, Sonny’s has been celebratin’ it’s 50th anniversary with specials each Wednesday for the month of May. We have felt the need to assist in the celebration.

MetalMouse the big secret to my beastloaf is two pounds of ground beast and one pound of ground snausage. I throw in onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, a little salt and pepper, an aig (two if the aigs are small), and some bread crumbs. I top it with a combo of mustard/cat soup. I bake it at 325 Amurrkin degrees until it’s done, usually about an hour. Pretty basic but it comes out good.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy says its’ hungry. Then I suppose I should purtify and don goin’ about the public attire. Such a bother!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Last night I put a litter box by the foot of the bed on my side, plus I brought water and food for Ziva. She hadn’t been out of the room since Sunday and I was getting worried. She used the litter box, and as I lay there trying to fall asleep, I heard her come out and eat, so that’s good. Now I need to work on getting her out of the room - definitely next Firday, as she’s got a vet’s appt.

Then this morning, I saw that the critters’ fountain had stopped pumping and the lid was knocked off - I’m guessing Taz was troubleshooting. I have a spare pump and I replaced it, added water, and Taz drank lots and lots. If history repeats, the failed pump will resurrect after it dries thoroughly. I’ll give it a good cleaning - maybe I should soak it in vinegar.

Between that and prepping the meatloaf for Daughter to pop in the oven this afternoon, I was later than usual to the office. But I’m here, dressed, and more-or-less ready to be productive.

Happy Wednesday!!

Happy Hump day!

It looks icky outside but I think it is supposed to clear up.
I’ve got a case of the grumpies today.

We need to go grocery shopping but we can survive for one more day.

ADam Cat doesn’t care about boxes, Ripple loves them, or rather what he thinks is in them.
He’s the nosy one around here.

SSDD

That step is unnecessary for :eek:Wally Jr.

About that cat soup - how many cats? How long are they in the pot for? What do you season them with? C’mon man, don’t be one of those people who “accidentally” forgets a key ingredient/step so the recipe doesn’t come out so good.

Morning all. Up about 0630 today. Two things on the program; another home remodeler visit and meeting with a couple other folks to gather the ‘little’ soccer goals used by the 8 and unders and take them to the storage area…there are 36 of them scattered around 6 fields, so it’s a bit a a logisitics problem; but I was a logistician so it’s all good.

Thanks for the info, swampy maybe I’ll try it one day.

Sari, hope the sinuses stay dry

FCM, Cats is weird.

ruble, wages are weird.

doggio, spidey, flytrap…just weird.

Now to forage for sustenance.

Must you be redundant?? :stuck_out_tongue:

I resemble that remark!

FCM… meatloaf sounds good. We’re going to the in-laws for dinner tonight, so who knows what’s up with that.

No one made fun of Juliet Jr. yesterday. She has good kids in her class. She’s doing better and had no accidents yesterday. Hooray!

On Monday, the kids wore jackets to school. Today, it’s gonna get to around 80. Wisco weather. I don’t get it.

The next-door neighbors are renovating, and making a bloody racket. This might go on all day, and the next day, and the next, and so on. It’s already been going on for many days. Arrgh.

Though I imagine it annoys my roommate more than me, because she usually doesn’t wake up until noon.

Young lady, are you swearing? :dubious:

Blurf I just discovered I am wearing two different brown flats.:smack::smack:

I am going to lunch to see off one of our long time business heads. I am considering going to buy a pair of matching shoes…or not. What a dummy I am. All the shoes I wear for the week usually wind up in a pile by the bed and I didn’t pay any attention.

Blurf

**Juliet **- I can usually throw together a good meatloaf, altho I can’t guarantee this one. I was out of BBQ sauce so I opted for ketchup and Worcestershire instead. It should be fine. My biggest problem, now that my daughter and SIL are living with us, is relearning how to cook for more than 2. It’s gonna be a challenge.

**Butters **- I went to work once with 2 different brown loafers. Both were SAS but they were completely different styles, and one was quite old and a bit paint-spattered. I should mention that I usually get dressed in a relatively dark bedroom.

OK, break over. Back at it for me.

FCM: I prefer mine with a spicy ketchup, actually. I have a Ninja crock pot thing, and I do the whole freaking thing in there. I sear the edges, then bake it surrounded by potatoes all at the same time. I use this recipe from a blogger I know. It’s so good and easy.

:dubious: I think your cats are broken.

I think everyone’s weather is wacky right now. Which part of Wisconsin are you in? My dad taught at Lawrence for a while when I was a very small person.

For some reason those last exchanges reminded me of the old cartoon …

a) It isn’t swearing as much in the Empire as it is the home island.

b) In French Canada (in honor of Monday it needs mentioning) it isn’t even bad at all since it isn’t “our language” anyway.

And since we’re talking about the English and swearing my favorite example is Dave Allen

NOT entirely safe for all work-places

Yes, **kopek. **And about the swearing - even the F and S words (in English) are allowed in English songs played on French-language radio stations during the day, but not on English stations. And sometimes you hear swear-word songs out in public places on any normal day. It can seem weird to English speakers.

In my area, the really bad taboo words in French are religious words, such as “tabarnak” (tabernacle) and “ostie” (host.) You hear people casually say things like “merde” (“shit”) all the time, and in fact, “merde” is the polite way to wish someone good luck for a performance.

Yeah, it’s all kinda weird.
