I’m going to have such a busy weekend this weekend, and even with 3 days, I’m not sure how I’m going to get everything done. We’re having our house appraised a week from tomorrow, so I have so many little things to fix up, plus cleaning, laundry, and feeding little mouths. Romeo’s gonna pull his weight this weekend, and Juliet Jr is old enough to keep an eye on her toddler brother, Romeo Jr, while we get stuff done. I’m hoping that if I bust my butt Saturday and Sunday that maybe I can have a chill Monday.
**Juliet **- you looking to move or yank out some equity? I knew a woman some eons back as the bubble was growing who seemed to refinance her house every year!! I wonder how upside-down she wound up. Our mortgage company keeps offering to refinance us for no fees - yeah, because being within 13 years of paying it off, we want to take on a 30-year note. Good plan.
We’re refinancing. When we first got our mortgage a little over 8 years ago, it was a 7-year fixed with an ARM for the rest of the 30 year term. It adjusted lower for a while, but now that the rates are going back up, we’re locking it down. Also, we’re switching financial institutions. I’m really not loving where I am now, so we’re switching and refinancing. We anticipate our house appraising for more than we need it to appraise for, so we’re not too concerned, but it’s lighting a fire under my butt to get these little repairs done and get the house spotless.
We’re taking a little equity out to cover the closing costs/appraisal, pay off a credit card and a small student loan, and for a down payment on a new(er) vehicle. We’re going with a 20 year mortgage now, so we’re actually going to be shaving 2 years off of our term and lowering our rate big time. With the auto loan and the mortgage, we’re still going to be paying less each month than we currently are with our mortgage + credit card payment + student loan payment.
I was up late; I got kicked out of the bar at closing time*. I was up early; took the cah in fer earl. There was a @#$%& candle in the place. Between the lack of sleep fog & the haid stuffeduped fog it’s a tough day. I finally gave up & went outside for a walk; it’s amazing - after about 30 seconds I feel better & then two minutes after I came back in I’s stuffefeduped again.
They close early, at 10 pm. I go there about 9:30ish & didn’t have a thing to drink. I just went there to take some night photos as it’s a great view from the Emergency! floor (51); however, it was so windy that, even on a tripod, the biiiiig lens was getting movement.
We refinanced just before I retired in 2011, rolling a home equity balance into the mortgage balance. We didn’t take any cash out and we refinanced for 20 years, knocking a total of 3 years off the original mortgage end date (2031 now vs. 2034.) It saved us money over the previous mortgage payment plus the home equity loan payment, enabling us to beat some other loans into submission. Now all we have is the mortgage, apart from normal living expenses. I don’t count the credit card because it’s pretty much paid off as we use it - using it for convenience and cash-back.
If we live long enough to have our mortgage paid off, it’ll be a heck of an effective income raise!

I didn’t get enough sleep last night because bff#1 called me after 11, and if she calls that late it must be important.

MetalMouse I hear ya! I should mow but it’s way hyooooooomid out. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy but Sattidy is supposed to be OK. We shall see. JDD and Partner are comin’ out for quality cee-mint pond time Sattidy and I don’t care how the yahd looks for them especially since their yahd looks worse. Plus I’m not the worst yahd in da 'hood yet, so there’s that.
Nappage accomplished. temperature shows 88F outside, but I am in no rush to go out and confirm it.
swampy, that is my goal; not the worst yard on the street. Rain in the forecast here for Firday and Sattiday, so looks like Sunday will be mowing day.

Ugh… just realized it’s going to get over 90 this weekend… and our air conditioner still isn’t working. It went out at the end of last summer, and I wasn’t employed at the time, so we put off repairs until this summer. The repair man is coming June 1. I’m not dealing with two young’uns getting all crabby in the heat and not napping. So let’s see what’s going on a Grandma’s house this Sunday. Maybe we can all hang out there for the day.
Worked, came home, wnet back to work, went to the bottle shop. I’m proud of myself, I spent less than the GDP of Albania. Dinner was pan seared tuna with ginger sesame asparagus and soba noodles with ginger soy dipping sauce. No hockey tonight.
All of the OWs tests went well and work was dull; not a bad day all in all. Playing hooky tomorrow for a State thingy I need to attend but am going in Saturday.
I’ve just got a hook for Singapore and I’m actually going all kinds of oooOOOoooOOOO! It would mean changing every plan I’ve already got in place for the next year but damn. If I do get it I probably won’t have time to do much touristing “in the neighborhood” (for very wide definitions of neighborhood) but maybe after it’s over I can take vacation time and get some Aussie and Kiwi Dopers to show me around a little
I was awakened at 2:30 by my phone. There were some texts and a voicemail with a code for YouTubeGo. UGH!!! I turned the phone off and tried to sleep again but no luck. So I pulled out my tablet and I’ve been surfing for the last couple of hours. My alarm is about to go off. It’s tahred…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy/foggy with a predicted high of 85 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. I may or may not accomplish mowage today. I believe it rained some overnight which means no mornin’ mowage. Other than that no biggie plans for the day. Fine by me. We shall sup upon majik intartoobz pizza.
GMOOOOOOM I finally figured out how to turn off the email/news alert tones on my phone. Now the only alert I get is for texts of which I do not get many. My text alert is a French horn. I like the sound.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
I have been awake since 4 ish. Gonna be a long day for me too. May try for another hour of sleep. It has rained most of the night and we are expecting rain throughout the holiday weekend. Since Moanday is a holiday I will have half of Sat off and all of Sun, Mon, and Tuesday if I decide to take Tuesday.
**swampy **- I don’t get email or news on my phone - just (mostly) crap calls and the occasional text. The alert tone isn’t that big a deal, except at 2:30AM when I’m in a sound sleep and it scares the crap outta me! Then it happens again… and again…
I checked my phone history when I could get to the website - 4 texts and a voicemail for this stupid code. I’m assuming whoever input my phone number figured it out and used the correct number. Still, it cost me ***NINETY CENTS!!! *** Dammit!
