Closing in on the "Unofficial Start of Summer" in the MMP

Happy Friday and the start of a 3 day weekend. My allergies are acting up and I have the pre-vacation jitters. Took Ursala Kitteh in for her nail trim yesterday and she sulked all day. Gonna be hot this weekend, upper 80s. But I’m ready with a/c and ice packs.

Morning all. Woke up way too early (seems to be a thing today) but fell back asleep until 6:30. Rain has been pushed to the afternoon, so about 9-9:30 I’m going to get out and mow the lawn. Don’t have any lettuce or tomatoes on hand, so I’ll just have a bacon sammich for breakfast.

Nava, I never planned to work overseas either, then the chance came and…Four years in Abu Dhabi and I never regretted it. Singapore is quite a place, I think you’d like it. But you will be a 15-hour flight from family and friends (maybe good, maybe bad?). If you’re ready for it in your mind and heart, go for it.

MM, I don’t think Nava has a home; she frequently irks in other countries. It seems like by the time she gathers local menus she’s off again.
As for me, I’m off…4 day weekend in western NY in the #1 state park in the country. We have ‘lectricity & indoor plumbing, but not all who are going do. OTOH, there is no, none, nada connectivity to the outside world. No intertubez, no cell phone towers, nuffin’. So behave w/o me & use coasters. Even ‘camping’ I’m taking coasters. We’ll use them because they’re ones I made of photos of someone else’s balloon so they’re not coming home w/ me as I’m nice like that, damnit. (Hmmm, where have I heard that line before?)

Awake and adulting. I have a CE class for the hunter-ed classes I teach and am trying to decide between the bike and the car. There could be storms and I have to be in uniform and all and the car would be easier but ------------- it is warm and the weather could stay dry so I will continue to ponder.

We know, but we try not to mention it.

I crack me up!!

And I’m thinking I may take the afternoon off. I’m fighting to keep my eyes open here and I can’t do the drawing Brent wants me to do because he’s off today and I can’t figure out what the heck is going on with it!

Baby Engineer is pouting. He’s been here 22 months and still doesn’t have a clearance. Maria has been her maybe 3 months, she’s from Colombia, and she just got her clearance. I think it’s hilarious!

Got the kids off to school, checked my work emails and I’m ready to go.

Dreading this weekend. It’s going to be in the 80s/90s and humid… and our AC isn’t working. It broke late last summer, so we put off fixing it until this summer since I was unemployed at the time. The repairman isn’t coming until a week from today. Not looking forward to a 3-day weekend with hot, crabby kiddos.

I’m going to see if we can hide out at the in-laws house for a day or two. But if I’m hanging out there, I’m not getting work done around my house that I so desperately need to do. Can’t win.

Happy Firday!

Another beautiful day.
We just got done irking outside, the back jungle has been trimmed, the front weeds have been whacked.
Ripple got hit with the weed whacker, no blood, I think just a clunk on the head.

Other than that, SSDD

Was the weed whacker damaged?

Lawn mowage is mission complete. If there is going to be rain this afternoon it’ll have to get a move on, the sky is blue and the temperature is in the high 80’s.

Sari, hope Ripple’s OK, maybe he’ll learn to avoid it in the future.

Juliet, is there a local swimming pool? That’s where I used to head when I was a wee lad and we had no AC.

Enjoy the wilderness, spidey He’s gone? OK, break out the good stuff

I think a nice hot bath may be in my near future…

Sari, the weed whacker is not the right tool for trimming Ripple’s claws…

Now a Dremel tool…

Mooommm Interest rates are low enough right now that you might look into a 10 or 7 year loan. The payments might be lower or comparable to what you have now, and you’d be done sooner. Just a thought…

Nava It sounds all kinds of cool to me! If you do it, let me know. I know a few other ex-pats that way. I’ll introduce you.

She does too! She just doesn’t stay in it very long. :o Have fun camping.

Mother-in-law arrives for a Very Long Visit tomorrow. BiL dropped her off in a hotel several weeks ago with a loaf of bread. Unfortunately before they did that, they got her to sign over POA to her financial accounts and now they are ignoring all of her requests and our requests to release them. She was able to stay with friends for a few weeks, and now is coming to us. She will eventually move to assisted living near our new home in CA. I’m afraid that I have very uncivil thoughts about BiL. The kids are looking forward to seeing her. I hope it will lift her spirits to be here.

There are local pools, but they’re not open for the season yet. Argh!

My brother offered to let us chill (literally) at his place. They’re moving into a new house this weekend, so I was planning on being at their house all day Saturday to wrangle all the children. They’re letting my kids sleepover with their kids Saturday night and my husband and I will come back Sunday morning and spend Sunday at their new house. If we help unpack things and get them settled (a little), they’re cool with us hanging out.

Monday, we’ll probably hang out at the in-law’s house. The heat is supposed to break next Friday… the day the A/C repairman comes! I think we’ll be fine during the week just opening up the windows in the evening/overnight to let the house cool down. Since we won’t be there all day exuding body heat, cooking, using electronics, etc., it won’t be so bad.

Glad you go the mowing done, MetalMouse. It’s not a fun chore in the heat!

**Sunny **- I did look into refinancing for a shorter term, but the payments went up - we can’t manage that. Plus with **FCD **starting his business, I can’t imagine anyone giving us a loan of any kind. Our rate is pretty good, so I can’t complain. Much.

I left work at 11-ish, came home and had a sammich, and vacuumed up a metric buttload of cat hair. Then my daughter and I went to Food Lion where we got a bunch of groceries, including diapers - dang, they’s expensive!!! **FCD **and SIL are out doing something work-related. I’m thinking I might stretch out on the recliner and maybe snooze a bit. Daughter is making supper - yay!

I’s still exhausted.

As hard as his head is you’d think so.

MetalMouse, Ripple is afraid of the lawn mower, but he thought the weed whacker was a toy. We watch him, but he ran up behind Sah-son as Sah-son was turning and thunk.
I hope he learned a lesson.

Alien - we use both clippers and a dremel type tool on his nails. We do them weekly so he stays used to getting them trimmed, even though we ony have to take off a litte each time.
I don’t want him to be like Mackie where it took 3-4 people to trim his nails.

Howdy Y’all! I actually was gettin’ ready to mow da yahd, then it started to rain. Poured for maybe ten minutes then stopped. Needless to say da yahd is all wet, so no mowage. Weather be weird.

I’ll practice my clarinet soon. Though my window is open. Hope the neighbours won’t be too mad, though they’re making so much noise with renovations that they might not care.

I’m not really complaining.

And now to finish this coffee.

My big concert is tomorrow! We’re playing The Firebird Suite, and a piece my friend wrote for us, and other music as well.

At irk. We now have Subtropical Storm Alberto just south and west of us. It is supposed to rain all weekend. We are so dead due to the weather the new Sat girl texted me and said she will be OK alone tomorrow and I tend to agree. She can always call if she has any issues plus I asked my new Mommy employee if she will be available if needed and she is so I shall have a proper three day weekend. I hope anyway.

The PW department was going to change out our electric meter this morning but while trying to hook up a huge generator something went terribly wrong and fried our ticket printer. At least that is the only thing I have found so far. Turns out they brought the wrong size generator. Huge screw up. We are borrowing the ticket printer from our 2nd location since they sell so few tickets. Then our shitty IT lady will order a new one.

Always something

We have ingested majik intartoobz pizza. All is well.

Butters it was a tropical storm named Alberto that caused the massive flood we had in these parts back in 1994. Ol’ Bertie was a sloooooooooow movin’ storm that dumped torrential amounts of rain all over southwest Jawja and then moved north continuin’ to dump massive amounts of rain into creeks that run into the Flint River as well as dumpin’ large water into the Flint. Natch all that water had to move south, hence the flood. Flooded the place where I irked at the time. I spent my fortieth bday doin’ flood cleanup. This was July of 1994. Lots of folks got flooded out. I never again want to deal with a flood. ICK!

Supper was good - the kids made a sorta chicken-pasta soup that was extremely thick and rich and I burnt my tongue, dammit!! :stuck_out_tongue: Lots left over, even with the vacuum cleaner that is my SIL eating.

I bought some strawberries - I need to clean them and cut them up for future noshing. Chillage tonight, many chores tomorrow.

**FCD **got a metric buttload of work to do this weekend, so he won’t be going with us to my mom’s. His loss. We’ll be able to leave the dogs home with him. hehehehe

I love the Firebird Suite.
