Closing in on the "Unofficial Start of Summer" in the MMP

I’m glad Ripple is OK sari.

Break a leg emily!

Since I have to irk Monday, I took a half day today. I got the grocery shopping out of the way and took a nap. Nelson got to rrun with his puppy peeps at the dog park before the rain set in.

Tomorrow, we’re having a brunch potluck / animal shelter benefit / Nelson’s birthday party at the mother park to the dog park. The shelter is in spittin’ distance of the dog park and we’ll be with friends and their dogs.

Well, the rain arrived about 5pm, with thunder and lightning accompanying it, so good thing I did mow this morning. I also ordered $500 worth of Chinese currency, which is supposed to be delivered by the 7th of June. I’ll get a better exchange rate in China itself, but I always prefer to have cash in-hand when I arrive at a foreign location.

Worked out my 3 month budget plan (I do that at the end of each month, adjusting and adding a new month) and it looks good, as long as life and Murphy don’t cross me up.

Spent some cash eating meatloaf (since some of the remarks in the MMP this week gave me an appetite for it) at Logan’s Roadhouse, was most satisfactory.

Internetting will take up the rest of the evening, I think, with glances at the Basketball game.

Have fun making music, Midget

swampy, never been flooded out of my house, but I was around for the Great St. Louis Flood, when both the Missouri and Mississippi rivers went into flood stage. Was quite a site to see. And Butters, hope you stay dry–I think you folks have had enough weather issues.

I bought a 2008 Ford ranger pick up today. It occurs to me, where the hell do I put my toolbox? I’ve had it in every car I ever owned to make road side repairs.

A guy from work has been frantic to buy my late Mother in Law’s 2001 Buick Century.
He paid me $500.00 in five dollar bills. That seems somewhat odd.

flytrap, they make toolboxes to fit the bed of a compact pickup. I had one in both of my S10s. They’re set up to be secured and have a lock.

Thank you, I will check them out.

When my youngest cousin-daughter was getting married the wedding gift from us included 400 two dollar bills; well worn and basically just face value on the wholesale. But she did get a question or two depositing them at the bank.
I am back from the class without acquiring any more class. For the second year in a row we have had no fatal hunting related shooting incidents. We are much pleased about that. It was worth the UPT to attend as there was much information I didn’t know about Chronic Wasting Disease.

heh In 1988 usc and Michigan was in the rose bowl and my mom being from Michigan was a fan …My stepdad at the time was giving her crap about it (playfully)

So they made a 20 dollar bet Michigan creamed usc from what I remember So stepdad went out the next day and came home with a really large bank bag and dumped my moms winnings in her lap …… It was all in pennies …. we cleaned up pennies for about a week … mom was neither amused nor impressed ……

So while DH enjoys a 3-day weekend, I’m doing a ONE-day weekend on Sunday. Had to irk Moanday anyway, looking at bills drove me to sign up for a full irkday as OT tomorrow. Need the money.

I don’t usually pay attention to sirens going by. I live half a block off of a street which has a lot of emergency vehicles pass by.

But early this afternoon I heard a LOT of sirens, coming from all directions, and they stopped out front of my house, at a T intersection. Lots of shouting, so I eased on over to the window and saw a stopped car surrounded by police vehicles. Several drawn guns and the cops were yelling instructions at the occupants of the car. They had to walk backward, kneel, and put their hands behind their backs to be cuffed. At one point I counted nine police vehicles. I’ll watch the news tonight to see if there is anything on about it. Kind of scary.

I planted some herbs yesterday, and some seeds for cucumber and yellow squash. I’m going to the Farmer’s Market in the morning to see if anyone has rosemary sets, and I may get a couple more tomatoes. I’m planting them in big pots, in potting soil, will see if that works.

When one of my fraternity brothers got hitched, his roommate in the house came up with a great one. He was handing out presents for the new couple in the reception parking lot, all wrapped differently, yet the same size box…

I think they got 15 cheap toasters by the time the last one was opened.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 84 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. Looks like quality cee-mint pond time is out. Oh well. It rained a bunch durin’ the night. I woke up about two to answer the call of nature and heard the rain hittin’ the awnin’ that covers the parkin’ pad. Thus ‘tis very wet out. Don’t know if JDD and Partner will come over or not. If’n it’s stormy I would not blame them for not wantin’ to get out in it all. Burgers and fries are still planned for sup. I have butter and cheese softenin’ to make a batch of cheese thangs to take over to the church house tomorrow evenin’. The last Choral Evensong of the church year is tomorrow night with a reception afterward.

CupCakes YIKES! Nuttin’ like excitatement in the 'hood right?

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

ETA: First on Four! NEENER! NEENER! NEENER! Spidey

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work.

FIFTEEN CHEAP TOASTERS?!?!?!?

Genius, sheer genius! Were they returned or regifted?

I woke just after 5, but I lay in bed playing on my tablet till almost 7. Higgs, Taz, and Cleo have been tended to and I just finished a breakfast sammich. I also had to clean the stove top - OMG, what a mess the kids left! I didn’t mind doing the dishes, but seems to me the cook should wipe up the messes on the stove. We shall discuss.

Today is going to be a chore day, starting with a metric butt-ton of laundry. Wonder if I can hang anything outside today…

Onward! Happy Saturday!

Or did they just loaf ( ) around until needed?

Blurf. Gloomy with more rain coming.

Taking the dog to the vet. He has an ear infection and while we are there he shall have a mini-pedi.

Happy Saturday!

Today is supposed to be thunderboomering, but right now it is bright, N.O.S., cool, and breezy.

Ugh, I just went to pick up the remote and there was a spider on it, the kind that hop.
Now I don’'t know where it is, ick, ick, ick!

I couldn’t sleep last night and was up until 4:30 ish. I’d still be asleep but Ripple woke me around 8:30.
Then he went back to sleep.
Guess he figured it was time for me to get up.

Nothing special on the agenda for today.
For those of you who hae a holiday weekend, enjoy.
For me its just another day.

First load is on the lines, second in the washer, fountain is clean, eggs are boiled and peeled.

Busy morning with more to come.

Theoretically, we’ll have rain this afternoon. Maybe. We shall see.

Apparently rain is everywhere MMP’ers are this weekend; has anyone sighted an old bearded guy leading animals two-by-two? We have a 40% chance today of rain going up to 80% on Sunday and 50% for Labor Day, so odds are we’re going to get rain sometime.

Cupcakes, Wow!!:eek: I remember having a police chopper with his searchlight on checking out the area once, but never a sight like that. Anything on the news?

Sari, them little spiders are tricky; the nuclear option must be considered.

Alien, that is a practical joke I need to remember; hopefully when I’m 600 miles away from the wedding…and ruble, thanks for adding your unique rye humor.

flytrap, why was he fixated on the Buick? Just the right price and he needed A CAR RIGHT NOW, or did he have some type of Buick fetish?

Stay dry Butters, and hope the ear infection is nothing much.

OK, need to make myself presentable and take a load of soccer balls back to the storage area.

The engine on his uncle’s Buick seized. Perhaps his uncle nagged at him. But why $5 bills? :dubious:

I didn’t see anything on the news about the incident in front of my house. Then again, if there were no news vans then it didn’t happen. Wish I knew someone with a police scanner.

kopek, your toaster story makes me think of one. At my parent’s 50th, and then their 60th, wedding anniversary celebration, on display was a toaster they got as a wedding gift. It still works, although Mom mostly uses a new one. At the 50th we sent a letter to the company that had made the toaster, and they responeded with a congratulatory note.

All right, who put the red and greed crayons in the toaster? They are melted!!!

The toaster even survived that, and I take the Fifth on how it happened.

swampie, I want to be a member of St. Patrick’s! You have even more food events than my church does!
