Closing in on the "Unofficial Start of Summer" in the MMP

JDD and Partner are comin’ over later this afternoon which is fine by me. I need nappage cause I made cheese thangs, N.O.T. sallit, and made up burgers to throw on the grill for sup. Decided on N.O.T. sallit instead of fries cause, well why not. Plus also I was in the kitchen. We shall also have peach cobbler but that will get made later bein’ as it’s easy to whomp up and then bake whilst we sup.

CupCakes we lurves to eat we does!

Butters hope HRH Lucky Louie’s ear is not too bad poor thing!

If cooking duties are shared by all, then clean up should be shared. If cooking is done by one, then clean up should be done by the rest. When I was first married, I would cook and we’d both clean up our dishes. This was followed by my husband complaining about how many pots it took to cook the meals. Of course, all he knew how to cook was ramen. :stuck_out_tongue: We even had a dishwasher, so it’s not like he had an excuse for whining so much.

Who knows? My dad’s first cousin used to send me $2 bills because I had the same birthday as her departed husband. I think it made her happy to remember him. Of course, being a child with access to a corner store, I didn’t save mine. Maybe he’s been saving exactly $5 a paycheck for a while.

Butters I hope Lucky Louie feels better.

Cupcakes trying looking on your neighborhood’s or city’s Facebook page, or your newspaper’s online edition, or your police department’s. Sometimes you can find information one of those places.

Back from the vet. He got dosed in both ears even though only one is bad and got his toes fixed up and a heart worm test so I could purchase more heartworm/ flea medicine and a bag of treats for his trouble.

Still raining. Hubby had work to do today but nothing much he can do in the rain so he is napping.

I need to go grocery shopping between showers at some point today.

Stay dry all you Mumpers especially those in the southeast. Alberto is on the way.

Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) wants me to grill pork ribs today. I have converted her to like Brussels sprouts and, wonder of wonder, fresh green beans instead of canned.
She also wants to grill a large zucchini.

I did not know people ate canned. You have done the universe a good deed.

Try cooked (like stir fried I think?) stringbeans with mushrooms, and pine nuts. I use either rosemary, or whatever other spices come to hand, and maybe some minced garlic. Use just a smidgen of your favorite oil to keep things from sticking. Toss it together in a frying pan, stir it a few times until done, and there you go.

We like them blanched in chicken broth and stir fried with mushrooms, onions and some bacon. I think it was the bacon that won her over. I’ll sound her out about pine nuts; she generally doesn’t enjoy nuts.
Thanks!

Sunny, That sounds pretty sketchy to me. Maybe you should talk to the state attorney general about it. They’re surprisingly helpful sometimes. I had an out-of-state ‘collection agency’ harassing me over a made up debt a few years ago. I called the AG and explained it all to them and they were on the scammers like white on rice.

I was gone yesterday. Didja miss me? A small bunch of folks, Wifey’s artist friends and me, went to the Portland Art Museum for most of the day. It was very fun, but that place is a freaking maze, with totally inadequate bathrooms for that big a building. But still, a good time with good people. Also their docents were wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable and seemed happy to be there.
Also, we saw a Van Gogh I don’t think I’ve seen before.

I was so tired when we got back I had to take a nap. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sunny, be careful about those flea killers things. We gave Vinnie Schnauzer some stuff called Trifexis and he had a reaction and it almost killed him.:mad:
He still has tremors in his back legs. :frowning:

Flytrap, we make green beans with bacon, and sometimes onions &/or garlic. Chop up a strip or 2 of bacon into small bits and cook it in a saucepan until you render as much bacon fat as you dare and then sweat your onions until translucent and then dump in your beans and stir everything together, and cook a long time. For this application, canned beans will serve. That way you can make them all year long.
BTW, Ida given you $501 for an old Buick. Or Ida traded you a 1988 Ranger. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s a handy tip - your laundry will be much cleaner if, after loading the washer, you hit the Start button. :smack: We went to lunch at Red Robin and I came home anticipating a clean load of jeans. Well, they’ll be clean in about half an hour. Dammit.

I brought in all the sheets that were on the line. I’ve still got the load of towels and the first load of jeans out there - they’ll be brought in… eventually. The kids are out and about. **FCD **is napping. The critters are napping. I’m doing laundry. What’s wrong with this picture?

I got a survey from Medstar concerning FCD’s urgent care visit a month or so ago. The questions were more for a regular family doctor situation, so after answering a couple, I went to the comment block, said it was a one-time urgent care visit, and that’s that. Did my attitude show there?

Around here its on the local cable access news if it doesn’t 1-3 times a week

When I co-owned the house We were raided because one of the mentally questionable roomates decided to jump the alley wall when he seen the police and they were looking for apartment burglars …… so all 6 people in my house sat outside on the curb as the house and one was carted off for a stolen car and meth possession ……

Twice a night they fly around here I can tell the difference between air patrol and someone getting raided if they circle around an area its a raid ……

Nappage has been achieved. Spoiled Brat has pronounced the cheese thangs good. I always set some aside for quality control/munchie purposes and to avoid sad puppy dawg eyes. I have to admit he does sad puppy dawg eyes really good.

Bumba that’s what I do with canned green beans. I also freeze fresh green beans when they’re in season so’s we can have those as well. I’ll mix both together. 'Tis good.

As to kitchen cleanup, I tend to wash up as I go so pots and pans are cleanded up when I finish cookin’. I was taught to do that by my mother. I must continue this as she would haunt me if’n I didn’t!

The Facebook is a good idea. I did try the paper online and the police department and didn’t find anything, but I may not have known just what to click on.

My tenant watched from a lawn chair as the house across the street was raided. Smoke grenades. He is on a medical disability from the 101st Airborne, and was quite entertained.

No rain in no. Illinois. Bright sun and 91degrees. Rode this morning, and am now in the a/c watching the movie “The Eye of the Needle.” Dinner is fried chicken and steamed artichokes.

I just pulled the last load of laundry out of the dryer. It’s looking like it wants to rain any time. I watched some Netflix and when I’m done with the laundry, I need to get the eggs deviled.

It never ends, does it…

Went to teh VFW last night to see a band “Awkwardly Friendly”. Worked today. Got some storms so powerful, it blew me out of my car, and into Bottle Revolution. So I waited it out with a pint.

Reminds me of the time I opened the door to my apartment, and 10 cops were arresting the next door neighbor. Or the time the store next door got robbed, and I got stuck outside of my apartment for an hour, because the were chasing the guy back and forth in my complex. Or the time the cops were going door to door, looking for some guy from Louisiana, with a mile long felony record. Or the time I was going to Taco Bell ,but six cops had pulled over some dude in a suit, and the cops were all wearing body armor ,and had M4s(I guess he was a terrorist, a high level drug dealer, or a serial killer with a jar of human eyeballs in his trunk.). Apparently I live in interesting places.

And I turned in my paperwork and check for Convention in Philly, so I got that to look forward to.

Sunny, I second what Bumba said.

I’m wondering if we’re going to have a warm as hell fall cause it was 65 degrees at 3pm and it’s cooling off now…

baker, Lowe’s usually has a good selection of herb plants. I grow them in clay pots too and decided that it would be just herbs and flowers this year.

Moooom, like swampy’s mama, mine taught me to clean up as I go. That has stood me well over the years.

The brunch went well. Disc golf was played, dogs got playtime at the dogpark part and a mess of tired puppers went home. Afterward, I went to Michael’s, World Market, Tuesday Morning and Goodwill. I came home with some tiki torches, citronella oil for them, wire whisks, a couple of dog toys, a new harness, some coffee beans, chocolate and two pair of summer pants that won’t look like I got dressed in the dark with a navy shirt. I’s tahred.

Made harissa chicken tacos with spicy rice and quinoa and spinach with olives and tomatoes. Turned out good.

Work was quite easy tonight. My thanks to everyone who did not shop at or order heavy things from Da Jungle yesterday.
