Here’s a perfume ad directed by Spike Jonze that is 3 minutes 45 seconds of WTF weirdness, and 3 seconds of advertising.
I like the Geico youtube commercials that do a setup, tell you they’re going to cut to the end so you can watch your video, then cut to a weird ending that makes you wonder what happened. They’re cute and amusing, and short enough that they don’t get in the way of watching what you want to.
I will rewind and watch every single sonic commercial with the two guys in the car, specially when a new one drops.
The Reese’s Summer Olympics commercial with the skier trying different summer games and failing adorably. I especially like her rhythmic gymnastics and fencing tries. And how proud she is of herself once she gets on the horse.
Progressive Insurance
Biker’s double life.
“He uses my moisturizer.” ![]()
I mostly watch on my Roku, so don’t see many commercials. But I really love the audible.com commercials.
Here’s an example.
You see a person jogging, or a person on a beach-- i.e., someone listening to an audiobook-- and the voiceover is text from the book. When the camera backs up, the jogger is at the head of a bunch of guys marching into battle, or the woman on the beach is sitting in a desolate landscape on another planet. “Stories that surround you.”
This commercial is brilliant.
The Playing Marco Polo with Marco Polo ad.
Love that one
“But it is I, Marco Polo!”
I like that, by the end, he figures out what’s going on. That Marco Polo was no dummy!
But why does he have an alpaca with him? ![]()
Alpacas can be used as pack animals.
In fact, that’s where the name came from.
“Hold still while I pack ya.”
ETA: I’m pretty sure that it’s a llama.
Ahh, Polo!
The Farmers Insurance Synchronized Swimming Dogs (Mermutts)
No matter how many times I see it, I still laugh at the Clearasil commercial, where the Mom comes barging into the room with laundry and huffs, ‘Steven!’ all through his life until he’s 90 years old and a robot/hologram mom with laundry basket STILL comes barging into his room.
There’s one I saw a few times a while back with a bunch of dogs dressed up as hot dogs running towards people dressed as various varieties of catsup. I thought it was cute.
I just saw a Farmers Insurance commercial with a living room that, I guess, was flooded? and all the dogs jumped in and performed a water ballet. (I love Farmers Insurance commercials, they’re all entertaining!)
GEICO’s “Lemonade” commercial was funny. Once.
Now they’ll run it into the ground.
