CW TV Superhero 4-way Crossover 2016 (Spoilers after airing)

OK, since I’ve got the time and I’m a little bored, I’ll answer this one. Needless to say, spoilers for LoT Season 1:

After trying and failing to take out Vandal Savage throughout history, the Legends discovered that the Time Masters themselves were opposing them. The Time Masters had a device called the Oculus that allowed to see the “true” timeline, as well as allowing them to anticipate the Legends’ every move. The Legends decided to destroy the Oculus by planting a bomb on it but of course they fucked up the plan, so Snart decided to detonate the device by hand. He was successful but, needless to say, didn’t survive the process.

As for Rory, he was there right along with the other Legends. Didn’t you see him? Big bald dude with the bad attitude. Decided to call Supergirl “Skirt”.

He meant Rip; Rory was his Doctor Who character.

Rip disappears after saving New York and scattering the rest of his team across time.

Oh, that Rory. Yeah, what he said.

I remember thinking when LoT started that having a current character’s name be the same as the name of another actor’s former character could be the source for some confusion. Strangely, that hasn’t come up until now.

Yeah…Sara, hon…despite being part of a team specifically tasked with preventing disruption to the timeline, you almost did, in fact, try to arrange for Laurel not to die. Don’t get all up in the shit of a man who has time travel as a minor side effect of his powers for having to learn the dangers first hand. And it’s not like telling Darhk all the terrible things that were going to happen to him would motivate him to act any differently, of course, so that was totally safe…

Honestly, I’d like to see this crossover end with it less clear whether the changes were a consequence of Barry’s screwup, or the mistakes (‘oh, hello, younger me, stop being an ass’) and ‘screw consequences, we’re doing the right thing’ moments (freeing those slaves) that the Legends have done.

Enjoyed this episode but this is a 4 episode crossover in only the strictest sense especially since the 30 seconds of actual cross over in Supergirl were repeated here. Not even from a different angle or something. It was the same literal scene.

I’m still wondering how they will dig Flash out of this hole he has dug himself in. It was dumb and selfish for him to change history in the first place and I said s all along but all the people on his team who are mad at him now knew he was planning to do this and encouraged him.

Most likely he will figure out a way to reset his reset and put everything back again (but now dooming the new people in this timeline) or will sacrifice something so big people will let his past mistakes slide.

I called it at our house that Wally was going to save the day, this episode. But I wouldn’t be surprised, especially since it got a mention in the Flash episode, that Caitlin’s powers wind up saving the day at some point in the crossover. I also wouldn’t be surprised if someone suggested she call herself the new “Captain Cold” or maybe “Citizen Cold.”

Ha! The Legends are the last people to be getting all ethical about the timeline. They trash the timeline every episode and White Canary keeps trying to kill Darhk. Now they act like they actually care. Did you know it was really Einstein’s wife who was the brains? They corrected history. How arrogant.

Alex’s mom is the worst actor ever, but that whole last Supergirl ep felt poorly acted. The mom was awful though.

The Flash ep was better, but Cisco is being a baby. Of course, Flash should never have fucked things up to begin with. I hope they stick with things as they are though. What’s the point of getting emotionally connected to the characters and then wiping them out and replacing them with people we don’t know? Sure, maybe I could have been a little prince or princess in an alternate past, but I wouldn’t want to erase the past I’ve got now, good or bad.

Wonder if the Legends told Lisa Snart (the Golden Glider) that her brother’s dead? She deserves to know, if not.

And I hope that Barry doesn’t assume she knows if she doesn’t, only to say, “Sorry about Len” the next time he sees her, which isn’t how she should find out.

OTOH, maybe she doesn’t exist in this timeline. Who knows?

Supergirl shouldn’t have even been billed as part of the crossover. More time was spent on Alex’s jr high level drama, and the entire relevant scene was reshown on Flash anyway.

Speaking of Flash, it seemed (no pun) rushed, with things just going 90 miles a second and little time to absorb much. It was cool seeing Supergirl and the other heroes together training at the Hall of Justice (!), but there was no substance.

Arrow better really bring it tonight, because it would be really unlikely for Legends to do so.

Or maybe, I dunno… Superman?

At least the Legends noobs got explained away (lamely) as watching the ship. Where were Ollie’s newbies?

Speaking of noobs, what did White Canary say when they were first in the hanger, Felicity asked, “is everyone here?” and she said something-something Waverider backwash something something.

You know they brought her in for name recognition as she played Supergirl in the original motion picture. Just as they use Dean Cain, John Wesley Shipp and Brandon Routh. I don’t have a problem with that, it’s nice seeing actors from previous DC projects as a nod to the fans. And Helen Slater has only made infrequent appearances. Smallville had Annette O’ Toole in a starring role and had Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder in cameo roles.

You could fanwank it so that in synthesizing the virus Cadmus was able to re-target it to leave humans alone. And as far as attraction to an ear of corn, well, Superman was brought up in Iowa, and you know how those farmboys get during the long evenings. Hey, it was the country. They had to make their own fun.

They stated the virus was re engineered to kill everyone but humans. Someone also said the reason Mon-El was still alive was because he shares dna with Kryptonians, but that was just a guess. Kara was never exposed to the virus and Mon-El was going to die before they made a cure, so Kara would probably have been killed too.

Superman was brought up in Kansas. Jim Kirk was brought up in Iowa.

She said that Nate and Amaya stayed behind on the Waverider.

Things i never expected to see in an episode of Arrow: a space battle.

I now believe “theme music plays when she appears” is among Supergirl’s powers.

I actually enjoyed this episode. I heard that it was going to be a “For the Superman Who Has Everything” knock-off (you know…the one with Mongul and the Black Lotus), but they pulled it off nicely without it being a slavish knock-off.

I’m not a fan (in this crossover) of people being total, absolute dicks to one another and then getting forgiven instantly later (Think of the Wild-Dog vs Supergirl/Flash thing).

Also…Dominators are Jewish? I am offended. I will write a strongly worded letter to the network! (kidding, although I am sick of every Jewish character on TV knowing obscure minutae of crackpot quasi-Jewish mystical stuff.)

Only real complaint is they totally dropped the ball on a couple of the A-List Legends characters. A few seconds of “Here’s what Firestorm, Heat Wave, et al were doing” would have been enough.

That seems to be one of her cousin’s powers, too.
