See, I go back and forth with this mindset and then the other - I mean, the dad thing is a bit tough to swallow, but then obviously people do do that. The ectopic baby daddy thing I’ve seen way, way too many people do in real life, on the other hand. I just don’t know.
She often comes across as consciously telling a story. For example, in the “daddy’s a con-man” thread. One of the later posts has her saying that her father has just informed her stepmother that he’s taken out a loan on her car:
The last sentence there especially, it just doesn’t feel real to me, more like “OK, what’s my villain’s motivation here – oh right, just to torture the ex-wife. Ok, put that in.”
I’ll feel like an ass if it turns out I’m wrong here, but she’s really reminding me of people I’ve seen before – the worst one wound up faking her own death from pneumonia after an ever-escalating series of borderline-implausible, attention-getting stories.
And everything that ever happens should be appropriate for her 6 year old to attend. So no Mardi Gras either, from what I understand.

Granted, I haven’t been following her thread about her dad much, but I’ve communicated by email with CP several times, and she seems pretty real and normal to me. Nothing she has said there or on the board, for that matter, has ever pinged my bs meter, so I really can’t say what the OP is on about. It does seem odd that she’s been pitted for vague suspicions, though.
Con artists are real people who act normal, just saying.

I think it offends me more that she used the word “romantical” and claims to be a teacher. It was sort of the depressing feeling I had when I found out ZPG Zealot was a librarian.
Maybe I’m old school, but shouldn’t asking strangers on the internet for money involve a live webcam feed and removing articles of clothing?
And sometimes they are just liars. Liars overshare because they think that the more details they give, the more believable their story will be.
She’s been on my ignore list since around then, the bigoted religious-right nonsense she was spouting in every thread she posted in, while claiming to be socially liberal, meant she was either a troll or completely deluded.
PLEASE don’t give her any more ideas. We’ll be treated to the saga of her meeting some skeevy person via webcam, getting fired from her job as Louanne Johnson in “Dangerous Minds,” and an ongoing discussion of how lesbians shouldn’t watch her, only straight men with gambling money.
I just find it odd that a person who is a teacher would leave such a blazing trail of all their personal drama that is linked to their real life information, on the internet, for anyone to see. Serious lack of judgment and maturity.
Isn’t there any concern on her part that students, their parents, her parents, potential suitors and potential employers will see all the TMI and drama?
If I were her, I would ask the mods for a name change.

It sure is great to know that C.P. takes offense at any sign of solidarity within the minority and LGBT communities, because as an educator, she must know how much better it is to have people at each others throats.
i feel for the dopers who have been sending her money/care packages and whatever. those of you who have done that have good hearts and are wonderful people, but you’re being played. her situation gets worse every time she makes a new post and the holes in her story just keep getting bigger. i’m 110% convinced she’s a con artist. whether there is any truth at all to the story she’s telling, or if it’s a complete fabrication i don’t know, but she’s trolling for sympathy/money. don’t feed her.
Unfortunately, there are Dopers who’ve genuinely been in troubled situations, and have received a lot of assistance from other Dopers with good hearts. That makes the culture of the Dope ripe for con artists to come in and scam for money or gifts or other forms of support.
This particular case is such an example.
As more and more crazy keeps pouring out of CitizenPained, the more shocked I am that someone who claims to be a teacher, and who is so worried about losing her job (Cuz you know she is sooo super broke…if you have any donations you’d like to make…kthnxbai!), would link her UN with her IRL name, making it super easy for her current employers, future employers, students, friends and family to find all this shit. It blows my mind. But then I think maybe someone who is in a position to help her will run across these posts and have her committed.
