Did you all change all of your clocks in the MMP?

Sunglasses, a wig, and a fake moustache?

Party boobs and a mankini.

And here it is:

We’re doing a late lunch with pulled poke as crinkle fries in the air fryer. Because easy, because lazy.

Okay, here’s the garden (after a spring cleaning; it’s not as tidy right now).

Here’s the best interior feature.

Oooh! Sounds yummy. Recipe please?

I think I’ve missed some important news. I’ll be checking up on that now.

I think I’ve mentioned that I got married in LA during the Rodney King riots. It sounds like you’re tucked in safe and sound. Please stay hunkered down. Riots are awful. Sending hugs and safe vibes - you know, “these aren’t the awesome friends that you are looking for”.

Gentle hugs.

I like cheddar crumbly and dry. :yum: I hadn’t heard about carrot juice for the cheddar before, but I had heard about it for butter. I guess somewhere cows eat something that makes butter yellow and cheese orange, and people wanted their orange milk products. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Wait - the coach?

And mead! I really wish we all lived closer together. A gathering would be much fun. :frowning:

This is why my husband insists on a master bedroom with a door to the outside. We even have a dog door so they can get themselves in and out without human help. Of course, Akiko is a polite young lady and wakes me up to show me that she’s going out. I can’t figure out why she does this, but she will lead me over to the door and then go outside. Silly dog. Fortunately, my brain never reset after I had the babies, so I can wake up and then go right back to sleep, most of the time anyway.

Moomm what is the plan for FiL? It sounds like he needs a home health care worker stopping by daily, or possibly to go to a memory care facility. How scary for all of you, and especially for MiL.

Can you explain to a non-boat owner what the benefits would be to each option?

I hope he has a quick and easy go of it.

It says something about how bad things have gotten in this country that I can’t find anything in the news that stands out as new or more awful than all of the other news. Whatever it was/is, I hope things improve.

Me neither. May I interest you in some shortbread?

Congratulations! Time has flown by. Are you happy so far with how things have been going?

Didn’t we have a whole Pit thread for that?

Just finished brunch with biscuits, bacon and eggs. I made some shrimp dip for later. 'Beamer and I had a “conversation” about how, yes, he did have to put his soda cans in the recycling. And his dishes in the dishwasher. Yes, even that one that was kind of hidden from a few days ago. He thought I was VERY unreasonable. I am unmoved. :stuck_out_tongue:

Litterboxes have been changed. Vacuuming has been started, but the machine is currently recharging.

I think I am about out of spoons for the day. I’ll move on to watching things and reading things.

Happy Sunday everyone!

I am glad you didn’t find it. You would have known why we got upset over it. It didn’t have anything to do with politics or politicians, though. The protesters are still marching and one of them managed to collapse of heat exhaustion from the effort of trudging around in the 71F afternoon.

I LOVE shortbread and sugar cookies are my favorite Christmas cookie ever

I have snow. Don’t think anything will stick, but it is falling from the sky. Not ready.

Free sky water? How strange and wonderful. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Best of luck on cheddar, sky water, boats, crock pot dishes, in-laws, &c.

Should the creek freeze, there’s the possibility of hull damage. Similarly, freezing water in any of a number of hoses and lines could lead to bad stuff happening. Winter storms could also be bad - lots of snow could weigh a vessel down if it wasn’t cleared off, putting some thru-hull fitting under water, allowing water to fill the boat. Add high winds and the chance of lines breaking… and other stuff I can’t think of at the moment. Plus ice on the dock and the deck could be very very bad for a person going to check on their boat.

However, the winter forecast here isn’t all that terrible, and in all the years we’ve had boats on this creek, I think it only had significant freezing once. But there are submersible pumps that marinas and boat owners put around docks to keep the water moving and prevent freezing.

Hauling out has its own potential hazards - like if the boatyard gets really mucky, theoretically the support stands could slip or sink in muck, leaving your boat on unstable ground. And boats are typically packed in pretty tightly, so even if your boat is solid, if the one next to you or next to that one should tip, well, you can imagine. Nothing is risk-free, but this year, staying afloat shouldn’t be a problem.

I think it’s time for more stoopit tablet games. Onward!!

@Sunny_Daze

He was on the sidelines and became collateral damage from the field. Here is a site with the video:
https://footballscoop.com/news/nebraskas-mark-whipple-part-of-sideline-collision-in-michigan-game

They toted him off the field and he spent the rest of the game in the coach’s box. Word has it he will be OK

College football. Ne vs. Michigan. A Michigan player unintentionally bowled over our offensive coordinator over going out of bounds. That coach went for x-rays and after halftime did his offensive coordinating and play calling from the coaching box for the second half. I’ve searched the news locally and haven’t heard anything concerning long term about the coach. Guess he was shaken up but nothing to worry about. Defensively Michigan is #1 in the nation so he is fortunate. The MI player who bowled him over was a punt returner so on the smaller size.

Turned into 15 bean and ham stew. Wasn’t quite done for supper so I switched it to low overnight and this morning it was wonderful looking bean and ham stew. My roomie, a soup person, had it for breakfast and pronounced it ‘wonderful’. We’ll eat on it again tonight and then ziploc bag freeze it for later deliciousness. It. It made at least 6 quarts of bean stew. I just used the recipe on the back of the 15 bean bag and improvised into a crock pot version with what I had at home. 16 oz bag of dry 15 bean mix, 8 cups of chicken bone broth, heaping tablespoon of minced garlic, 1-1/2 pounds of fresh carrots sliced into chunks, 1+ pound of thin sliced deli ham. 6 hours on high, overnight on low. My roomie is on a low sodium heart diet so she adds salt free spices and I’ll add some salt probably when I dish mine up. I think I’ll make up some cornbread when I eat one of my bowls-that sounds good.

Next I want to make a pot of chili-maybe with ground turkey. Will have to do a grocery store trip for that. That ‘dump and go’ site that one of you recommended has a crockpot gingerbread recipe~that might happen over Thanksgiving weekend. I already have spritz whipped cream in the fridge-there’s also a crockpot crustless pumpkin pie recipe there that looks promising. Maybe I’ll work my way through all the dessert recipes first.

I am soooo glad to have another spoon theory friend! That’s how I’ve learned to operate since my brain injury. Only so many spoons today-how am I going to use them?

I’m smiling because just this week a huge tin of Walker’s shortbreads fell into my cart at Costco. Biggest tin of shortbread I’ve ever seen. I told myself at the time it was for a gift but we’ll see if it makes it out of my clutches unopened. Check back with me after Christmas. Good shortbreads are a wonderful thing and if you don’t have homemade, Walker’s are quite ok.

‘I don’t care what it’s been! What is it now?

This sounds so yummy. I will be trying this.

It’s a helpful model! It occurs to me that if you’re dealing with TBI issues then we have many things in common. Stupid brains and their fragility. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s being 15 bean and ham stew. Perhaps cassoulet if I wanted to put on airs. And if I had some red wine to splash into it. Sadly I do not.

Thought of you JtC
making cheddar cheese

I am so not ready for winter.
It’s supposed to be 26 degrees in the morning.
I’m thinking of putting the brats in daycare tomorrow.

All this cooking talk is starting in inspire me, but I think laziness is going to win the battle.

Eez punchline.

My 3 spider plants have taken up residence in FCD’s office in front of the window. I need to get a couple more pots as I promised to give MIL a couple. I have both variegated and solid green, so she’ll get one if each. Meanwhile, we need to keep that door shut so Taz doesn’t nosh on the leaves.

It’s cold and windy out. Ugh.
