Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Biden’s lead in Georgia has grown to 10,196.

There are absentee, military and provisional ballots left to count. Plus the whole lot is going to be recounted of course. But even with all that, it’s hard to see a Biden win here being overturned without some sort of legal chicanery.

Trump tweets:
“We believe these people are thieves. The big city machines are corrupt. This was a stolen election. Best pollster in Britain wrote this morning that this clearly was a stolen election, that it’s impossible to imagine that Biden outran Obama in some of these states."

For once he’s got it right. Clearly Biden did not outrun Obama in any state.

Any idea who is the “best pollster in Britain”, because I don’t know?

I wonder how many ballots could be left, and I wish it would get called soon. I want that freight train called reality to keep chasing Donald down.

I’d bet 1000 quids it has something to do with the execrable Nigel Farage.

Joe Twyman, an actual pollster in Great Britain (co-founded a polling company there), says he has no idea what Trump is talking about. I am not making a claim that Twyman is the “best” pollster or necessarily even a good one (I have no idea) but presumably, being in that business, he might know what Trump was on about.

I’d guess he might be referring to James Delingpole of Breitbart UK who spoke on Talk Radio this morning. Who is not a pollster.

Britain’s best pollster is probably Sir John Curtice.

Or maybe he’s referring to an article in a terrible right wing tabloid called The Express where there was an article by Patrick Basham (which I will not link to here as it’s a rag) who is a) a) not a pollster and b) not British. He’s actually the director of a Washington right wing think-tank.

Love it.

Hey, why stop making shit up now?

Nitpick
1000 quid. No plural s needed
I am sure there are good reasons it should have an s, but being British slang, reason wasn’t invited.

No joke on a message board, no matter how teeny tiny, is safe from…bum bum bum…The Literalists.

Just honoring long standing traditions

Flip them all off, and let God decide.

Unfortunately I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Stephen Miller. He’s a young guy, and there are enough immigration restrictionists in this country that SOMEONE will give him a job.

He previously worked for then-Senator Jeff Sessions. Tommy Tuberville just got elected to that seat, and he’s going to need a Chief of Staff.

One difference that people from other countries may not realize:

Biden and Harris can now openly organize their transition. This doesn’t traditionally wait for the Electoral College to meet; but it looks very bad to do it before the election is called.

I’m sure some of this has gone on in the background for some time. But they can now openly vet and name advisors. In any normal election, they’d also now have access to briefings from agencies in the administration; though who knows how, or even if, that’s going to work this year.

True. We are still members of the human species, and we’re evolving, but we haven’t evolved past that; and won’t for many lifetimes.

Maybe eventually, if we (as a species) survive long enough.

Perhaps this is why, in a way, we needed the Trump malAdministration: to remind us* that we can’t take democracy for granted. A damn high price to pay, especially since it coincided with the pandemic, but it might save us (and the world) from an even higher price down the line. If we don’t forget.

* As in, whup us upside the head and grind our collective face in it.

SNL is used to that. They have promotional deals with most of the major fashion outlets and garment warehouses in NYC. Aliens could land in Central Park at 7 PM EST and they’ll have a copy of their wearing by the live show. Might have to wing it on the dress rehearsal…

I guess this guy was right - from March 16th:

I’m also not really surprised to see all of his followers wimp out and not go charging out with guns blazing. We all knew they were just as wimpy as he is, all talk and no action.

And here’s the McCain-Lewis looking-down-from-heaven cartoon.

Much as I imagined it, but I would have liked to see them gazing at a US map with a blue Arizona and Georgia.
