Gosh, they missed me - MMP

ems, you look gorgeous! I love the dress, too, and am quite envious of the house as well.

I had mabo tofu for dinner, which was hot enough to clear out my sinuses, followed by cinnamon bun ice cream for dessert. Yummy!

I’ve been on a travel without leaving home kick. I watched Sancharram (The Journey), set in Kerala, India, a truly beautiful place. So when the movie dragged, there was lots of lovely scenery to look at. Then I watched Saving Face, set in Flushing, NY in the Chinese immigrant community. That was a much better movie, and funny, too. Not a lot of pretty scenery though, except for the leads. Now I’m reading The Spanish Pearl, which is a time-travel novel set in Zaragoza, Spain, during the time of El Cid. I’ve Googled up lots of pretty pictures, so I can visualize the countryside.

rigs We will be living in different states for the forseeable future so no moving in :frowning:

I haven’t officially decided on the dress and with the recent ‘surprise’ at closing I can’t afford to buy it now either for a little while

Oh I am officially a homeowner - just had the call from the realtor!

OK, first of all I can’t believe none of you went for the obvious nickname for ems: MMMMM

Second of all, our boat bottom is now black, as are parts of my hands and arms. I meant to take pics of the blue before I covered it with black, but too late. However, we will take pics tomorrow anyway.

Third of all, I picked up all of my ceramics from class, and (damn the luck) one of the dog’s ears broke off - grrrrr! Gotta figger out how to fix it. And I’m planning to create an online album of my classwork. I got a bunch of As on the later projects - go me!

Fourth of all, it’s my Friday. And the tech was hooking up my computers as I left today, so come Tuesday, I should be able to start doing… something…

Speaking of tongue-woman, she appears to be displeased with me. She barely acknowledges me when I say “good morning” - dunno what I did, but I hope I keep doing it…

Hugs and air kisses all around! MWAH!

Big accomplishment for the evening: bought a bag to haul stuff around it tomorrow. I’m tired and crawling into bed… NOW.

We dropped Ernie off at the vet’s. Poor baby.

I made Chicken with Red Wine and Tarragon for dinner…it’s so awesome. It’s a Rachel Ray recipe - here’s the link.

Cool house, M&M’s!

Unfortuately, it was bad news. She had some bleeding, then it stopped and then her period. Our guess was that the egg was fertilized but didn’t take. :frowning:

She attends a goup of volunteers who sew tiny clothes for premmies who die, since you can’t buy things that small. It’s made up of mothers who have lost babies themselves. They got together yesterday and so she came back with more sad stories. I broke down.

We’re doing better today, but I’m just kind of coasting. It’s raining.

I’m sorry to hear that, TPlayer; I hope you have better luck in the future.

Found out today that the doctors have decided to do surgery on Mr. SCL’s patient to remove a lobe from one lung. Unfortunately it means he will have to resign from the case; we simply can’t go any longer without any income and the hospitalization could be up to two months. The agency doesn’t have any other cases in this area so it means starting all over on a job search.

I got a call on one of my job applications today; they are only hiring for 2nd shift - I had applied for 1st or 3rd. I know it sounds stupid, but I really don’t want to give up hockey, which I would have to do if I took a second shift job. Damn this bites.

So now I’m all depressed.

Continuing hugs for the TokyoPlayers. I’m so sorry.
ems the dress is gorgeous. I really really love the overdress. It’s soooo pretty.

Home from work, have taken all my vitamins, and it’s time to crawl into bed so’s I can wake up and be sick tomorrow. kai, you’re braver far than I- I would have curled up and died. I am becoming an accomplished puker- can I list that on my resume?

ems, nice house and nice dresses. Um, I can’t believe they let you inspect the house with all that stuff lying around. Hmmm…

Also, I guess it’s too late now, but I wouldn’t have closed without negotiating the required repairs with the former owners. I learned this lesson the hard way with the first house I bought.

nashi, nice house! Before you know it, four years will have gone by and you still won’t have all the needed artwork up. Just like some people I know, namely me. I’m still looking for the “perfect” pictures. I am overly picky, I think.

TPlay, I’m sorry to hear of the latest. Still keeping you and the wife in my thoughts.

Li-li, I was glad to read that you’re feeling slightly better. I hate puking.

I had a bad headache yesterday, but dragged myself into work. Then I came home and vegged. I couldn’t even concentrate on watching TV. I feel much better today though. My tummy is still on fire, though.

On the office drama thing: You know what? I’m just pissed now. If that particular person wants to be that way, fine. Two more weeks and I’m outta there anyway. Fuck it. I’m still pleasant, polite, and warm. If she can’t buck up and be an adult, that’s her problem, not mine. I’m not going to let it bother me anymore. If she doesn’t like my new attitude, she can go fuck a duck.

This weekend’s plans call for boating and wakeboarding on Saturday. Sunday, we’re going to a neighbor’s house. I’m hoping to get some relaxation in there somewhere. Also, I’m sure we’ll be throwing something on the grill. We grill A LOT. I may try and find some copper river salmon too. It’s been here about a week or so now, so the prices should be down a little.

I also hope to get in some yardwork, my backyard is still in severe need of serious work. I’m sorry write of my favorite tree’s demise. It was the most expensive tree we bought when we moved in here. It was a coral bark maple, and I just loved that tree. It had striking bright red bark in the winter and spring. Additionally, when the leaves first opened in spring they were a bright, almost flourescent lime green. The stark contrast between the two colors was really cool. Now, I’ll have to dig the tree out.

Swampy, I hope your perfect job comes up soon. Sounds like today’s interview went well.

My poor dog wasn’t feeling well today. This morning, we woke up to three big piles of dog puke by the sliding glass door. When I came home this evening, there was a huge puddle of bile and water by the slider. Poor thing, he tries to make it outside. Too bad he can’t open the door. He seems better now, but I’ll keep an eye on him.

My daughter took two AP exams today. One for Psychology and the other for English. Poor kid. The first exam started at 7:00 a.m. She didn’t get out until 4:00 pm. She looked positively worn out at the dinner table. I’ll have to remember to call her silly school. They called with a recorded message around 5:30 pm to tell us that she had been absent. Uh, no doofuses…she was taking the AP exams! She had to register and pay for it and everything. So, she should have been on the list. What morons. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that school is one of the top high schools in the state and nation.

SCL, I hope you and the hubby find some employment soon. That’s got to be a huge worry.

I guess I’ve blathered on long enough. Catch you later.

Oooh, pretty. I like the embroidery on the boobs.

Still really tired. I’m applying for a tutoring position at one of the local charter schools and have to attend an information sessions tomorrow morning at 9:30am. Woe is me.

Hugs and kisses all round. :: stumbles into bed ::

My mother recalls the three years or so between being told she couldn’t have children and my birth as the worst of her marriage :frowning: I hope it ends well for you too, TPlay

MMMMM, lovely house, lovely dress and lovely grin. Can’t call that one a smile, can you?

Reported the misbehaved linky to be broken.

Off to look at pics of tashi’s house.

Continuing hugs and positive thoughts for you and your wife, TPlay. I’ve followed your other postings and have always been impressed by your eloquence.

MMMMMMM, lovely house and fantastic dress shots. I love the embroidered boobies too!

Nashitashitashinashi, you have lovely house photos too. I’m so jealous. 'im indoors has so much rubbish in the house it constantly looks like a tip. In fact, it’s so awful even the local students wouldn’t want to live here.

Some days going home just depresses me. One day I’m going to book a skip and just dump everything in it. Probably him as well.

At least it’s Friday and we have a long weekend to look forward to. I like getting bonus Mondays off. And my boss is out until Wednesday so the atmosphere round here is so much better!

SCL, I hope something comes up for you and Mr SCL soon, otherwise you’ll have to start renting the cats out as mousers!

TGIF!!! Woo hoo!!!

MMMMM, that’s a great house, thanks for sharing pics of it–looks exactly like what I’d be looking for, btw. And the wedding dress looks faboo!

TPlay, you and your wife are in my thoughts & prayers, so sorry {{{{HUGS}}}}

Swampy, good luck with the continuing job search (and sorry that the Warm Springs job didn’t pan out :(); something will turn up soon that will be right for you. Hope you have a great time this weekend - grilling and pool party and all.

Hope all who’ve been ailing are starting to feel better. I had bloodwork done yesterday and go to my doctor on Tuesday morning; arthritic knees are at the top of my list, along with several other health issues, unfortunately. This weekend, though, I’m going to be working on the planters for my patio, so I’m just going to try to enjoy myself.

Happy Friday, all.

Good morning all!

:frowning: Sorry about the news, TPlay. :frowning:

I’m off to the Cleveland Botanical Garden Flower Show. Went two years ago and it was spectacular. It’s supposed to be nice today and only get up to 79 up there. I’m going with fun people, so it’s practically guaranteed to be fun. Yay!!!

Back this evening.

GT

TP sorry about this latest setback. Y’all hang in there. I’m keepin’ the both of you in my thoughts and prayers. I think what your wife is doing sewing clothes with that group is so jake. What a great way to give back.

Snakes sorry about the job stuff. Here’s hopin’ both Mr. Snakes and you find jobs soon.

Thanks for all the well wishes y’all! MMP cool kids is the bestest!

Today’s excitement so far consists of taking 'Stang in to the dealership to get a vanity mirror and little clip thing that holds the roof in place on the driver’s side (it’s a convertible remember) replaced and then applying for a job with the local Electric Membership Association. It’s for their Customer Service Manager. Don’t think I actually want to do it, but hey, it’s one of those, could stand it for a while things if I had to, soooooo… I’ll apply.

What a pleasure to sleep in a couple of hours!! Of course, when my bladder did compel me to get out of bed, Scruffy went into hyper-overdrive mode <barkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbark> so I had to take her out to pee. But all of the critters’ needs have been met, they’re all crashed again, as is FCD, so I have some quiet time of my own.

TPlay - it’s all been said by so many here, so please just accept my hugs and best wishes for you and your wife.

swampy - I’m worried about you turning into an unemployed bum. Quit being so picky - I’m sure some nearby fastfood joint is looking for energetic assistant managers - get on down there and claim your paper hat post haste!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

All the recurring talk about flowers is making me ashamed. Frankly, my yard looks like crap with a side of ick, although my hosta are lush and gorgeous. I really do have plans, tho. Once the artsfest is over (June 9) I’m going to start attacking the landscaping. I’ve got tons of branches to gather, including a bunch that are resting in the forsythia in the side yard. There are also way too many dead shrubs on the hill and some bare patches in the grass. And too many daylilies planted in the shade. Plus there’s the stupid shallow bed around the old well, and the damned paulownia that keeps coming back. A few more weeks, and I’m all over them!!

Today’s plans, once my sweetie has slept enough, include washing and waxing the topsides (that’s the part of the hull above the waterline and below the toe rail) and sanding and painting the transom (that’s the flat part of the stern) plus checking the bottom paint to make sure the coverage is total, since I was pretty beat when I was finishing up last night. It’s going to be a nice day and I need to remember to wear a hat, to keep from burning my skull. Sunblock would probably be a good idea - I think I know where some is.

And I expect we’ll begin by having breakfast at Bob’s. But for now, sleeping beauty is still snoozing, so I can chill.

Happy Friday, all!

Folks, if someone inadvertently links to something not safe for work . . . please don’t quote the link.

Just report it and we’ll take care of it as soon as we can.

Cajun Man
for the SDMB

Hey, who let the Mod in?

Tplay, so sorry for you two - you’ve both been in my thoughts and prayers since way back…

Ever have one of those days that was so crappy, and everyone around you just forgot how to act, and they all got The Stupid on the same day, and nothing was really earth-shattering, but it kept coming at you one after the other after the other and you NEED to get good and drunk?

I had that yesterday, but I held out. If I’d started drinking after yesterday, I still would be now.

TGIF, yeah NOW I get that…

Happy Friday!

I’m off today, and just up and caffeinating. I miss ErnieBernie. How can you miss something that jumps on your head if you just turn over in your sleep, you ask? Well, I just do.

I have a doctor’s appointment at 10:00 to get my quarterly Depo shot. Yay for Depo! And then sometime today I will get all purtied up with a manicure and a pedicure. I also need to get the oil changed and the tires rotated on my car. And maybe a haircut. I might do that tomorrow though. And pick up the Nutless Wonder at 4:30.

Dinner tonight shall be fried catfish, sliced maters and green onions, and corn fritters.

I forgot to mention how pretty those dresses are, M&Ms.

Hugs for TPlayer and wife.

Swampy, it’s probably none of my business (but this is the TMI MMP, right?) - but are you doing ok financially? You’ve been out of work a few weeks, and well, I just worry about you, ya know? I know I’d be hurting.

Well, off to surf and caffeinate some more. Maybe scrounge up some breakfast…

Somehow I feel compelled to add here that my little 2-year-old, Darling Baby Cherry, has a special word for M&Ms (which he loves). He calls them Numma-nees.

So much to comment on!

ScareyFaerie, I’ve frequently detected a note of sadness from you regarding your domestic situation … here’s a hug, for that. :frowning:

kai you and your professional puking had me laughing! Poor you, though. Nothing worse than the technicolor yawn!

TPlay, you’re still in my thoughts and prayers. I know it’s hard, but try not to let this consume you life! I’m concerned about how big a toll it’s taking.

Taters, there’s a woman here that we’ve decided is just mentally ill. She operates without any of the usual sets of sociatal conventions. And she’s worked here for years. I always thought she was just dumb, but now she seems to be going around the bend. I mean, bizarre offensive, aggressively stupid behavior.

… I’ve been summoned. Back later.
