Home - the boat is floating and we’re both exhausted. Jimmy put us in the sling last night, so we couldn’t finish waxing. And since we hadn’t brought our carpet scraps, the stupid straps messed up the bottom paint and hull where we’d scrubbed it. Fortunately, the bill was about half of what we were expecting, so we’re happy about that.
This afternoon, we’ll move more furniture back in place. I’ll be doing some laundry, and maybe playing with clay - we shall see. I expect before the day is over, the air conditioner will be turned on - we’re being promised 89 degrees - who snuck summer in here??
I’m not a napper, but I feel like I could use a nap right now… yaaawwwwwnnnnnnnnnn
I apologize for the seeming organization, swampy, but I figure it’ll serve us in that frustrating emergency situation of “dangitall, I know someone volunteered; now who was it again?” And someone will need to remember that it’s actually there.
I thought we abolished mornings a while ago, LiLi? Hope you made it through with less puking.
Smoke sounds awful, swampy. Hope it rains soon.
Home from weeding in the park (very zen-like exercise, actually) and helping friend clean up at the end of her sale. Now I’m off to buy dirt and mulch and then I’ll be back to plant stuff. We’re supposed to have isolated thunderstorms, but if the weather is anything like it’s been lately, they’ll go either north or south of us.
It’s about 85 outside right now, so I closed the house and turned on the air. <sigh> I’ve been moving smaller things to the bedrooms, bit by bit, while my sweetie is cleaning his shop. I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer that I need to check any time now. With a little luck, the master bedroom will be all put back together today, and maybe the dining room, too. The green bedroom is almost reassembled, and *someone * needs to install the new outlets in the blue bedroom before we can finish loading it.
I’m hoping it’ll all be done before the weekend is over.
I should probably thaw something for supper. Off to forage in the fridge…
Swampy - I wanna come to your pool party! but I can’t even get down the 7 steps to my front door yet.
Male PTist called to say he’d be coming Wed & Fri of next week and Mon & Wed of the week after (before my Thurs doc appt) and started talking about going downstairs sideways or backwards :dubious: I told him I want to do the stairs the correct way. Sheesh!
**rosie ** - I remember before my grandmother got her knees replaced, she was going upstairs and down like a toddler - she was unable to take stairs the normal way. There are days when I feel like I’ll have to do the same when I head to the basement. Sucks to get old and fall apart…
On a happy note - I GOT AN **A **in my ceramics class! I am excited because it’s the first art class I’ve ever taken and I’m not particularly artistical. So I impressed myself. In fact, I’d originally intended to take the class as not-for-credit - I just wanted to learn how to do stuff. I’m glad now that I did get everything graded - the feedback was occasionally helpful. Anyway, go me!
Got some shrimps thawing for din-din - we’re eatin’ good tonight!
Note to self: Make damn sure, if I’m ever around haze to ask her to hand me the beer.
Ugh. I woulda drunken posted myself last night, but I would have had to been able to post at all to do that.
We met some friends for dinner, than met the Kid and some of her friends for drinks after.
Wife drove home.
This morning, we got up and went to Da Maul to get curtains, curtain hanging stuff, and look at blinds. Now we got all this nice paint on the walls, we need appropriate window coverings. So, yeah I guess the ole cordless B & D power screwpusher-inner is getting a work out this weekend.
The neighbor is having a first birthday party for her daughter and it’s storming here all day. Guess we’ll be indoors, eh?
The Kid and I call her daughter “The First Baby Ever Born”, because her mom (a pre-school teacher) is the epitome if the First Time Mom. Doting doesn’t begin to describe it, and she BABY TALKS incessantly to this poor kid.
Ok, enough stalling, I need to vacuum down here before I head out. Earlier this week, we had the windows open and the wind was howling from the south. My backyard to the south, is about 20 acres of dry farmland. Which is now all in my carpet, sectional and kitchen counters. I’ve re-dusted and cleaned the kitchen - which is the second time this week I’ve totally cleaned this house - the first being after the painters left. Now it’s vacuum time. At least it’ll be nice to have something in the cannister when I’m done besides cat fur.
Congrats on the success of your party, Swampy! I wish I coulda been there. It’s rainy and overcast here.
Boo for no internet, Rosie! I hate it when that happens. Yay for feeling a bit better.
Yay for the A, FCM!
Today was semi-busy. Mr Rebo took me to the cleaners (heh!), after we dropped off my car to get an oil change and tire rotation. Then we stopped at a church “garage” sale, and I bought a bag’o’books for $5. Then on to the grocery store, where I bought fixin’s for chicken and andouille jambalaya and fried boudin balls.
Hubby just left to purchase more beerverages, and I’ve already started on my Beam and coke.
It’s been hot here too. Took a shopping break to get a few things at Lowe’s and a few things at Garden Ridge (I was looking for a couple of trellises and found, instead, two nice ceramic containers (25% off), a shepherd’s hook and hanging basket to plant and hang from the hook, and potting soil). Bought a couple of plants at Lowe’s (they had serrano chiles and a nice coleus).
Cleared off the spot where I’m going to plant a small shrub and place the new pots with a couple of older ones.
Now I’m going to go find a couple of things at Target and consider a bit of clean-up here.
I have had just NO motivation today. Not that I’m objecting; it’s been nice to be lazy and put my feet up and get a bunch of knitting done. But the work doesn’t get itself done when I’m off knitting, alas. Who knows, maybe I’ll get motivated this evening. :dubious: Yeah, and maybe pigs will be flapping by overhead.
Papa Tigs had to go in to work this morning, and while he was there stopped by one of the outpatient facilities to check up on a patient, and ended up catching a ride with a guy here for Rolling Thunder down to the Mall to hang out with the other Vietnam vets. Except he wasn’t on the back of the cycle, he was in a sidecar. Lucky him! Although my fillings are popping out from the rattling at the mere thought of riding in a sidecar on D.C. streets. Anyway, he got a ride back, too, and had a great time visiting with all the guys except that it was HOT down there on the Mall, so he gave up early. And came home and watched a silly Samuel L. Jackson movie on TV, which I unfortunately started watching a few minutes into it and then had to stick around and see what happened. I’m not normally an action movie fan, but once in a while they’re fun. Even if this wasn’t no mothering snakes on no mothering plane.
Now supper is et and everyone is lazing about for the evening. I think I’m going to crawl in bed early and watch a DVD or something.
We spent the day out on the boat. We fished, but we didn’t catch a damn thing. Had some bites, but that’s about it. Before we left the lake, I pulled the hubby around on the wakeboard. He popped right up and felt really comfortable on it.
I’m slightly pink from the sun, but I’m not really burned or anything.
So, we’re back now. He’s out there washing the boat and I need to throw some chicken boobies on the grill.
I guess I should start the grill up now. Ya know, even though we didn’t really DO anything, just lazed around on the lake, I’m tired and don’t want to cook. Sigh, it must be done, though. It’s too bad I can’t throw some peanut butter and jelly sanniches at the family and call it good.
And sounds like Papa Tigs had fun while you were relaxing, BioTigs.
I’m back from Target. Entrance fee was $93.73. Got an additional hose. And some chocolate (on sale!) and milk and pruners and…can’t remember what else.
It’s [del]Miller[/del] Yuengling Time! I actually had help tonight(amazing how you can find payroll when the company president is in town). I gotta work all day tomorrow, then off Memorial Day.
Swampy, glad the poop party was a success.
Glad you had fun at the lake, Taters.
Hang in there, rosie.
gt, don’t worry, you’ll forget your sig, and we’ll be just as disorganized as ever.
Made it to Home Depot today; entrance fee there was just under $30, so I guess I came out okay.
I’ll have to make a couple of more trips to other stores to get some more plants, but I did get several shades of impatiens today as well as a very pretty pink/white begonia. And a -huge- bag of potting soil!! Tomorrow morning the potting will commence.
You know what’s annoying? When you turn on your gas grill to heat it, walk away for five or ten minutes and come back to find it dead. I had the chicken boobies all ready to go too. So, I ended up broiling them instead. Tomorrow, we’ll go to Lowes to switch out tanks. We should just get an extra tank.
I was surprised to find we were out of propane, but then again, we have been grilling quite a bit.
We’re also going to head down to one of the sporting goods shops and look at boat towables. We need a new tube thingie since ours up and died last year. We liked that tube too, dangit. It was big enough for two people and had little wing things that sort of flipped up on sides so you felt all protected and stuff.
My daughter also wants to stop at the local Goodwill store to see if she can volunteer there for 20 hours. She needs to do community service as part of her senior culmination project.
Tomorrow evening, we’ll head over to our neighbor’s house at about 7:00 pm for a 99 party. It should be a fun evening.
Mr. Taters is talking about taking the boat out again on Monday. I dunno. The weather isn’t supposed to be all that great, so we’ll see.
I think I’m going to crawl into my big comfy chair and a half and watch some boob tube now.
So we had to get up this morning to receive a Queen size bed – frame, head/footboard, box spring and mattress. It’s all second-hand, but the frame and boards were free (all wood and very heavy), and the bedding was dirt cheap (but looks almost new). I had to do some work on it first, though; the ends of each of the runners had half a dozen holes each in them from having been disassembled and reassembled and readjusted and so on. I didn’t want to try putting it together with numerous old holes in it, so I had to go over and pick up some wood filler and pan-head screws (because none came with it). I filled all of the holes and let the filler dry. Then it was time to drill new holes – and naturally the battery on my cordless drill was dead. So I had to charge it. After it was charged some (about an hour) I measured and drilled out the holes. Or most of them anyway – the battery died before I could complete the last four. So, back in the charger it went for another hour or so, and then I drilled out the remaining holes. Oh, wait. I’m going to need the drill again to screw in the runners. Damn. Back in the charger for a couple of hours. Finally, I manage to attach the runners to the head and footboards and assemble the bed, after which we put on the box spring and mattress and a new fitted sheet we had to buy because we only had bedding for a double. The logistics were problematic during assembly because it’s a much bigger bed, really heavy, and in a room that’s probably too small for it. But there it is anyway. It’s all put together and looks quite nice – much better than our old bed.
Now maybe the wife and I can sleep without jostling each other every time one of us moves. (Once I’m asleep I don’t usually notice, but I have real trouble getting to sleep if anything even slightly disturbs me, like movement or noises.)
We also stopped off at Laura Secord for a couple tubs of some real ice cream. I got me some Creme Brulée. It’s positively sinful.
Up and productive already. We moved the hutch and table back into the dining room and the armoire back into the blue room - turns out where it sits it doesn’t block any outlets. All this done before 7 AM - are you impressed?
So one of my chores for the day will be to clean and refill the hutch (it’s kinda dusty) and bring in the dining room chairs - then that room will be done.
It’s supposed to get close to 90 here today, but for now, it’s cooler, so I have the house open. The basement is nice and cool, and I don’t intend to turn on the air till later today. My electric bill will be evil enough when I run the kiln - I don’t need the a/c adding to it.
Happy Sunday, all! Don’t forget sunscreen if you go outside (says the sunburnt MMPer…)
