Grab a leaf rake in the MMP!

Thanks, doggo that song hit the spot.

I’ve been a member of my credit union for 30+ years: they only have branches in Maryland, but after I moved to Virginia (back in '98) I found that I hardly ever had to go to the bank in person. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve needed to go to a brach since then; so, I’ve stayed with them.

When Bailey got her updated vaccinations on Saturday, I didn’t realize until we got home that I hadn’t been given a new rabies tag for her – or a signed certificate. Happily, both things came in the mail today. Oh, and the vet called on Monday evening with Bailey’s bloodwork results: there’s nothing to indicate why she’s lost so much weight in the past year. Which, I guess, is a good thing! I’m supposed to start feeding her more, then take her back for a weight check in a month. I don’t really want to feed her more right now, though, because the poor doggy has been experiencing some GI distress for the past couple of days. It isn’t unusual for her to have a day or two of something and then it resolves, so for now I’m just keeping an eye on her. And doing a lot of cleaning up.

A local saxophonist is having a CD release show at a great jazz club in DC tonight. I’m way more of a trumpet fan than a sax fan, but over the years I’ve developed an appreciation of jazz saxophone and this guy is one of the reasons. I bought a ticket a while ago, and am looking forward to the show. Plus, this club does a great steak-and-potato dish. I feel a little guilty about planning to go out while the doggy is sick, but at least I won’t be gone long/out late: I’ll leave the house at around 5:45pm, and should be home three hours later.

(In enough time to catch the last 2/3 of ALDS game 1. :baseball: )

Yikes, sari! I’m glad you and the truck are both unscathed!

I love that!!

Wow.

My company has rules about that stuff, too: only certain grades are allowed to have an office, and sizes/amenities are tied to how high your grade is. I can have an office when one is available, but not a very big one – and I don’t qualify for a window office. Luckily for me, no one cares if I’m in a window cubicle.

This kinda makes me want to give you a hug, but also kinda makes me want to laugh…so, I shall do both:

:people_hugging:

It’s fine, I didn’t give it a crooked chop. Apparently, Drunk Shoe is quite meticulous. (I wouldn’t know; I’ve never personally met the stupid drunken b#$=.)

It’s all very even. I even gave myself a bit of pretty layers.

It was just a bit of a startle, the next day. Went to brush my bedhead, and was all, “Um, WTF where’s the rest of … oh. Oh, no. Oh, god.”

Peeked in the trash can and it all kinda came back. The anger. The tears. The scissors.

I looked all over this morning and could NOT find my phone. I finally used my computer app to ring it, and…turns out when I made the bed just after rising, I pulled up the sheets, etc. over it. D’oh.

I had what I hope was the final tussle with the local newspaper. I canceled my subscription months before it was up and was told I’d have to keep getting the paper until the subscription ran out in September. Then they called to get me to renew so many times per day that I had to block the number. Now I’ve been getting bills saying I owe $10.42. I called and got some nonsense about how I had to get charged a “supply chain charge” of 39¢ per issue for the issues after 8/31. I said I hadn’t wanted those issues in the first place. They finally said they’d waive the charges.

I wanted to support local journalism, but this newspaper costs three times the average local newspaper subscription, and then it turns out cancellation is harder than leaving a cult.

flyboy, hang on! Smoketober is almost over. We’re due to get up to an inch of rain Friday>Saturday.

shoe, sounds like Drunk Shoe should open her own salon. I’m sure if I got drunk and cut my hair, the results would scare small children.

Glad your SIL is doing better nellie. I, too, have big, wide feet. With the knee, hip and back issues, I went to Fleet Feet and this was their recommendation . Bought two pair and I wasn’t sorry for the relief that they provided.

VanGo, this time of year and in the spring, I get a lot of skunk whiff. I just make sure that when I smell it opening up the front door, Nelson’s on the standard leash instead of the retractable.

sari, glad there was no damage from the deer. Nelson answers to his name, NellyBelly, PookyButt and Cabron. :stuck_out_tongue:

metal mouse, if you swing through Discount Tire, they’ll air up your tires free without you even having to get out of your car. Even if you didn’t buy them there.

I was homeless for half the day at irk, given the remodeling going on. I would get set up in one station, get kicked out, set up in another, lather, rinse, repeat. Oh, well.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! Provisions were procured and sloth, nappage, day drinkin’, and sup were accomplished. Quite the full day here at da cave!

sari glad there was no major damage to your truck. Hopefully there is no major damage to the deer, as well. It’s suicidal deer season here, as well.

BooFae if you had a battle unicorn along with the pointy stick weildin’ Sri Lankan ninja spiders, you would be invincible!

ETA: Apropos to nuttin’, but I feel the need to share. I learned today that Jim Bakker is still alive. Whoddathunk!

Well, one annoyance is down. Maintenance cleared out the vent hose between dryer and wall and were talking about the outdoor vent access when they left. One oops on their part: the machinery was not plugged into the wall when they left, but DH and I were able to handle that. I have towels in the washer, so we’ll see how they do in the dry cycle.

Still getting pretty ignored by OnTrac, and why Twitter was not letting me DM them, I don’t know. Very annoying.

I saw a sign as I was walking on the berm today. ‘Walktober. Birch Bay’

I finally have given up being stoic and got an appointment with my GP for my knee issues. She’ll refer me for imaging and then likely onward to a surgeon to discuss options. Hopefully I’ll get a dose of steroids in the meantime to tame the knee bitch.

New commercial-grade washing machines due in on Friday! As I related, three of them crapped out last week and trouble was a-brewin’. This is what I like about this place. They take action when it’s needed instead of kicking the can down the road.

Evening all. Manged to not get to the swimmin’ and sauna today, mucked about a bit, then watched soccer, then worked on my puzzlesand crosswords and by then Pardon the Interruption was on and…in penance I ate a Big Bowl O’Sallit instead of meat and bread, so I will get to the gym tomorrow, promise…

Figured out the rest of the month’s budget and made out the revised Nov-Dec budgets, I think I remembered all of the end-of-the-year costs, so I should be fine. Back down to 44F now and is supposed to get to 29F tonight, but starting to warm up tomorrow.

Cookie, stoic is good, but knees need treatment, too. Hope things work out well.

Seanette, glad maintenance was on the job; may your drying be fast.

Red, thought about it (I did buy tires from them), just hate to be a pest for something that used to be (in my ancient times) free at almost any gas station.

nellie, not my phone, but I have on occasion put my watch somewhere and covered it up and then tore the house up trying to find it. I still get the local paper (only in print 3 days a week), but it seems like it’s getting worse instead of better.

shoe, my beard is being removed (by members of my soccer teams) on Saturday and I should get before and after pics because I do look quite different before and after.

Oopsie, I’m sure Bailey will forgive you your night out; have fun and eat well.

Bumba, keep an eye on that back, don’t need anymore damaged Mumpers.

OK, need to get the garbage and the recyclables out to the curb while I’m thinking about it. Everyone have a good night now (or good morning).

We live in a smaller town, I’ve rarely seen a line at our poling place, but I worked for the elections department for years and still get all twitchy when I think about some of the happenings I was forced to witness. The worse was when some upset man whipped out his peepee and ran up and down the row of voting machines spraying them. I thought us election officials were going to get lynched when we shut down due to nobody being willing to touch the machines.

I’ll do it as long as I can use the hose method when things get too bad. I was a janitor at the Arizona Memorial for a couple of years, I learned to love the floor drains.

Dang, I’ve heard this year’s flu season was going to be bad but wow. I sure do hope you start feeling better soon.

I am so happy you didn’t get hurt, also happy that the truck wasn’t hurt, but you are the most important part of the happiness.

All will be well, all will be well, all manner of things will be well.

That is the very worse part of losing someone to age. Dad didn’t know me the last couple of years, but he was a nice guy who enjoyed visiting with people and we got along once I realized that I was visiting a stranger.

You are a smarter jilted drunk than I was. My bangs were always the first things to go.

That is wise, their little lungs have a much harder time with smoke than ours do. I hope it clears up soon.

Good on you, being stoic doesn’t really do much for joint problems.

The last time I aired up a tire at the gas station, air was 2.75 for three minutes. Yes I did feel faint for a few minutes after seeing the sign. Discount Tires rock, the workers smile and hustle even when nobody is watching them.

Today was surplus produce day and we got potatoes, carrots, onions and bread along with a couple of packages of hamburger and a package of chicken breasts. It’s going to be root crops until spring. I told my friend that I didn’t want to deliver the food to the office anymore and she thought that sending her hub over to drink a couple of beers with my hub on a weekly basis would be good socialization for both of them, so that’s settled.

Good morning! I woke a little before 6 and now, roughly 6:40, I have:

  • Showered and dressed
  • Tended the critters, including refilling the cat kibble dispenser
  • Scooped the cat box
  • Cleared last night’s dishes (some to the dishwasher, some hand-washed)
  • Fed my face
  • Commenced caffeination

No clue why I’m so energized this morning - I’m sure it won’t last.

SIL has to work Firday, so I’ll have Tobias for an extra day this week. On Sat, Daughter and fambly are going to a Halloween event at Annemarie Gardens, and the in-laws are going with them. Unless BIL doesn’t want to go, in which case, I’ll go to push FIL in his wheelchair. It’s supposed to be a really nice day. And somewhere in the next couple of days, I need to go to WalMart. I foresee juggling of schedule ahead.

FCD will be with his folks again today. He bought them a programmed pill dispenser to ensure they’re taking the proper doses at the proper times. (I suspect part of FIL’s problems is that MIL is messing up his meds because she’s blind and forgetful.) This device will message FCD if they don’t take their meds - it’s pretty amazing! Here’s hoping it does some good.

And I need to make an appointment to get our gutters cleaned after the leaves are done - I shall do that shortly. Yay for on-line scheduling!

Happy Thursday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 32 (BRRR!) Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and N.O.S. for the day. OYKW has a doc and vampire appointment this mornin’. I, however, have no need to leave da cave and so shall be my usual slothful, useless drain on society. Sup shall b)e boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Nettie hope you are now able to dry all your mentionables and unmentionables.

cookie hope you get knee relief soonest.

Oopsie hope you had a fun time last night.

MOOOOOOM that pill dispenser sounds like a handy dandy and cool gadget. I just said a pill dispenser is cool. I am so freakin’ old!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers!

It’s 14c/57f with a predicted high of 14andaquarterc/58f and rain showers. Weather app is not impressed, and says “Not just bullshit, but fucking wet bullshit”. I agree, I went out to put a bag of rubbish in the bin and was similarly unimpressed with conditions.

After a meeting with our school and dept exams officers this morning, I think I’ll need an army! That will mean lots of little boots on the ground

sari I’m sorry about the deer, but glad you and the truck are ok!

nellie Brooks running shoes are ace, they’re expensive but really worth it. I had some, wore them to bits but can’t afford to replace them yet. Maybe when I win the lottery, if I ever get round to buying a ticket.

Cookie good to hear you’re getting that knee looked at, better to have something done than suffer in silence.

Moooom sorry to hear about FIL’s latest problems, I don’t know how you deal with it all :frowning:

Nettie good news on the dryer then! That’s one less thing to worry about.

Last night we went to a midweek gig at our favourite local venue and had a great time. There may have been a beerverage or two involved as well. We were lucky to get a cab there and back (it’s a half hour walk from home but the weather wasn’t great) and arrived before the doors were open. There was a much longer queue outside than I’ve seen in a very long time, which is good news for our local live music scene.

A good night was had by all, saw some gig friends, chatted to folks and was tucked up in bed by midnight. Up before 8am, cats were fed and medicated, litter trays scooped and refilled, I was dressed and tidied up, had breakfast and a cuppa before 8.30am, and logged into work. Looking forward to lunchtime already!

Oh, I never suffer in silence. My wife suffers in silence; I whine like a baby.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 46 degrees with an expected high of 64 and partly to mostly cloudy skies. The smoke was really, really thick yesterday, but is supposed to start moving out. They are still promising rain and lots of it. Still not quite believing the “lots” part.

Today is the first day I’ve felt this close to normal in over a week. I still have a little residual coughing now and again from a little sinus drip, but I think I’ve finally come out on the other side. Thank goodness, because I don’t want to spend another weekend sick.

sari, I’m so glad neither you nor the truck were hurt or damaged, but most important is you not being hurt.

FCM, becoming like your FiL is my biggest fear about aging. I really don’t want to be a burden to anyone in my family and I want to retain my faculties until the very end. I am sorry you and FCD have to deal with this.

I think it’s ridiculous that we need to even pay for air for our tires. I guess I’m old, but I well remember riding my bike to the local gas station as a kid and airing my tires for free right there at pump island. Around here, most of the stupid machines are always out of order, so I end up going to Les Schwab and having them air my tires for me. I got sick of driving from station to station trying to find an air machine.

sunny, the hard part is behind you! You got this!

bumba, watch out for yourself! Back issues suck.

chef, I’m glad you are going to see the doc about your knee.

nellie, I quit subscribing to the paper version of our local paper years ago. I got sick of either not getting the paper delivered or worse, receiving a soggy mess because the delivery person would throw the paper in the gutter at the bottom of the driveway…in the rain. Pissed me off royally. It was more problems than it was worth and it took forever to get them to understand I wanted the subscription canceled and even longer for them to quit pestering me about resubscribing. About seven to ten years ago, I started subscribing to the e-version of our paper. I do like to keep up with the local news.

Welp, gonna finish that second cup of coffee and clean up the kitchen. I hates a messy kitchen, yes I does!

One bonus of FCD’s shop - the air compressors. All we have to do is drive into the back yard and open the big shop door.

FCD has headed to see his folks again and Tobias will be delivered shortly. And so it begins…

Morning all. A chilly 30F to greet me this morning, heading to the mid-60’s today and on to 72F tomorrow. Glad I got the garbage/recyclables out last night.

Nothing much on the agenda except going to the gym, may pedal a few extra calories off in penance for not going yesterday. Outside of that a day of sloth will occur.

Me too, Taters. I remember one time my tires needed air, had never filled them at a station, and put in a little to much air. Made it about 49 feet before the tires blew and had to walk the bike and myself home.

Boofae, glad irk-place problems can be tempered by good music and good friends.

JtC, that was an…interesting…story on the voting machines. Bet you folks brought towels and disinfectant next year.

OK, need to finish the morning internettin’ and figure out what to do with the day. All y’all take care.

I had to chuckle, Metal Mouse. I never overfilled my tires, thank goodness. My Dad taught me well even as a second and third grader.

Just so you understand, the smoke here is no joke. Worst Air Quality in the WORLD. That is really saying something about the smoke around these parts.

The dryer is performing better than it has in a long time, so that part is good. DH isn’t feeling well (symptoms do not match with Covid). On the faint plus side, I get the car today, which will make having two appointments with an awkward interval between easier to manage.
